The worst part about this is that they just gutted Weavile on release for really no reason. Even if Chien-pao hadn't existed Weavile probably would have fallen off after losing Knock off and Triple Axel at the same time. These were its best stab options. Weavile got knock off back but it's still missing triple axel to really do what it does best. Chien-Pao existing just means Weavile was never going to see a tournament run again.

Another egregious example of this is Toxicroak and Sneasler. When I saw Sneasler for the 1st time, I thought we'd be getting our 1st ever Ice/Poison type, only to be disappointed by the fact that it turned out to be a Poison/Fighting type. The reason why I'm disappointed that it's Poison/Fighting type because we already have a Poison/Fighting type in Toxicroak who was totally outclassed by Sneasler in every way. Better Attack and Speed, better ability, better ability, Sneasler had everything that Toxicroak could hope for. If they happen to be in the same meta, why would a player use a Toxicroak over Sneasler unless he's playing in PU?
This is one of the few example of GF not knowing how to balance power creeps. One thing I noticed is that GF hardly ever buff older mons but when they do, those buff seems so insignificant compared to the broken stuff GF introduce each generation. The best it'd do is to shoot your favorite Pokemon a tier or two above. Rarely do we get the "Pelliper Effect" where an old Pokemon get such a major buff that it jumps straight to a much higher tier.

Pokemon could learn from Magic the Gathering. Considering the regional dex is effectively a rotating format, they could make more "clone pokemon" that are effectively the same as older pokemon with a small change like an ability or learn set. This would allow them to effectively stop the powercreep and reduce the number of buffs needed to keep older pokemon viable.

The problem is not on the game design
Or in the art
The problem is on the GAME BALANCE
I’m sure Gamefreak didn’t meant to make Mega Weavile as a separate Pokémon
But just like Mega Kangaskhan shows
I’m pretty sure they only did the two hits gimmick because they thought it was cool
And that it represented well the fact the baby’s second hit as he learns how to fight
They just said HEY it doesn’t have a gigantic base attack or a blitz fast speed
But Kangaskhan had ironically every coverage she can ask for
In all the elemtal punches, Crunch, Sucker Punch and Power up punch
And she got basically a Technician boost on all her moves and almost boost to the secondary effects
with the “drawback” of making contact two times instead of one
It also had Scrappy to use Fake Out before going mega
So it packed utility, Power and Set up that can’t be taunted
So Kangaskhan dominated the Metagame and even after Gamefreak realized this
They nerfed parental bond but the problem was not ONLY the 50% Boost
Was all the other benefits and Kangaskhan kept those and a good place in the metagame
Showing Gamefreak doesn’t makes broken things in purpose but rather on accident
Think of Urshifu’s unseen First and his crit move
Oh Urshifu focuses so much it’s almost like a Focus Energy, the hit is a crit
Or how Incineroar became broken with Intimidate, they just said oh it’s a rude Brawler
It tries to Intimidate his foes so slap intimidate
Or Like how Zamacenta was a joke compared to Zacian
Gamefreak didn’t understood why Zamacenta had no use in tournaments
Gamefreak just does stuff that it’s cool rather than trying to keep the game balanced
They just did Chieng Pao and the concept just fits Ice and Dark Typing
So they run with that and they just used a big attack stat and speed
Which so happens to be Weavile’s niche
If they ever make another Grass Levitate they don’t make that to step on Carnivine
But just to be cool
Which sucks but that’s how they do the games
They only fix something after it was problematic
Like Dark Void Smeargle
That and because if a new Pokémon has use on tournaments that makes the tournament a live stream an ad
So the new Pokémon tent to be strong because of that
If people continue to complain about your audio quality, I recommend investing in a pop filter.

I think you are exaggerating the problem. Chien-pao is just a legendary pokemon so it has better stats. the fact that it performs the same function is good, because with this type you can only be a glass cannon or garbage. Are you suggesting we don't make Ice/dark pokemon anymore? Weavile is my favorite pokemon, but even I understand that it's better if they make Chien-pao than another Hisuian Avalugg but Ice/dark
That is not the problem, the problem is that just by existing chien-pao invalidates weavile because it can literaly do everything weavile can but astronomically better, there are ways to diferentiate different pokemons with the same typing and role, look at tundurus and zapdos, they are both decently fast electrical special attackers yet they both offer diferent tools and coexist in the same meta without invalidating each other, meanwhile chien-pao is simply weavile but better, that is 100% lazy game design
@@thearrivalcyberseignister8898 how else can you design glass cannons? They are just fast and hit hard and it's only option for ice/dark pokemon with so many weaknesses. And Weavile have some cool move like knock off, beat up, triple axel and fake out, low kick, ice spiner. If you play singles they are in different tiers if you play vgc in reg h he can be helpful.

@@user-wi4ko5sb2u @user-wi4ko5sb2u there are a lot of ways to differentiate them, give weavile u turn, give it rapid spin, give it encore, give it follow me so you can redirect psychic attacks or prankster moves, give it baton pass, give it sucker punch, give it a new ability like technician allowing it to use stuff like loaded dice sets, power up punch or ice shard better, give it wind rider, if shiftry got it due to its japanese yokai inspirations weavile could reasonably got it too making it a great counter against the genies or simply to make it stronger in tailwind, or maybe even prankster giving it new utility, all of this is stuff that fits weavile is not exclusive and already exist, its not that hard to buff a pokemon, Will these make it better than chien-pao? Probably not but it will at least differentiate it enought so that you could reasonably use it over chien-pao, pokemon is not a binary between, this pokemon is a glass canon and it can do specificaly one thing so it invalidates every other glass canon that shares traits among them, or at least its not when its not lazy
@@thearrivalcyberseignister8898 Maybe Weavile is a bad design then, not Chien Pao? Besides, almost everything you said wouldn't help him, except U-turn or a new ability. Follow me is a very bad idea. My main question is where did Chien Pao get in your way? I don't think Weavile would be any good in the Ubers or VGCs of this generation.
I feel like it's okay to powercreep a Pokemon after >15 years. I also think its fine to have Chien-Pao as the Ubers level (or really UUbers-level I guess) equivalent to Weavile, which would remain in OU - or at least it would've been if it weren't for the questionable decision to take away Triple Axel. It's not like we don't have other legendaries that are just overpowered versions of other Pokemon if you squint.
Weavile does deserve a better niche in VGC with Chien-Pao around though (I do like that the "objective" power creep is on a legendary and they've created a new Regulation taking advantage of that distinction, however)
they should at least give Weavile a new ability like though claws, since his moves have higher BP it could at least do more damage
99% of people dont care about the "meta" players. I just use a pokemon because it looks cool, they could all have the exact same stats as far as im concerned.

Weavile has significantly more SpDef than Chien Pao
weavile/chien pao are already frail as all hell, if your sweeper is taking hits you're doing something wrong. chien pao could have 1 def 1 spdef and 2hp base stats and still be broken with its offensive stats + ability
@@PolarSomers weavile isnt a wall or tank by any means, but weavile's special bulk is better then scizors (70/85 vs 70/80) and does allow it to take even certain special attacks without fainting with no investment
That doesn't matter, it's pretty frail regardless, ESPECIALLY because of it's typing.

Yeah. In my case I decided to do General Pokemon content instead of just Pokemon Showdown clips (for now at least).
The reason why is because apparently there's a lot of different sub groups in Pokemon

That's no problem. I did have background music on my other vids before, but right now im looking for music that isn't irritating.
I mean I have my own taste but im not sure how other people would like the instrumentals im putting in lol. I guess I'm just weary that maybe music lowers down the engagement time

Nevertheless, he’s just wrong. It doesnt matter what format you plug Weavile/Chien-Pao to, Chien-Pao will be the more OP one 99.9% of the time
The hate chein Poa gets is crazy what about when great tusk took over landorous spot as the broken ground type.
They're not within the same archetype, and overall they're very different Pokemon.
Great Tusk is a physical defense wall, Landorus is a pivoter that can also be used for other things.
Great Tusk was not a replacement for Landorus like Chien-Pao was for Weavile.
@@showdown_recipes yeah but chien Poa is a ice leopard while weavile is a ice weasel and you said chein Poa has a lazy design it's literally one of the only two leopard Pokemon and the two leopard Pokemon have completely different designs so a ice leopard with sword fangs is a lazy design like a literal pile of trash.
