Josh, tks for the great video. Question, I try to move around some recommendations like you showed, however, is this only possible when you have the Premium subscription? The system does not allow is for the general subscription.
I think I may have a similiar issue as Cathy. I am unable to reorganize any of my education or job positions on my profile. If you are able to do so, would you mind showing us in a video, or perhaps a current work-around until this is fixed? By the way, I really did appreciate the overview in your video. Thanks
Thank you for your video. Very informative. How do I rearrange my sections? I can't figure out how to do that. I want to put my 'projects' below 'education', but I can't do it.
Hi Josh, Big thanks for that video. Could you, please, tell if there is a possibility to run a Company account on LinkedIn? I am a business portrait photographer. We mainly shoot business portraits which often people use as profile pictures on LinkedIn, so we would like to have LinkedIn account to show our work for people here. Do you know if there are any options for us?
Yes, you can Tomasz. You would need to set up a LinkedIn company account from your personal account. It's under your profile picture on the top right of your home tab. Then you can post pictures and links, etc.
Hello Josh, Thank you for this very informative tutorial, I am a new user of LinkedIn and I remember creating a Bio but now I would like to edit it and can't seem to find the tab to do so or to even re-read it. It would be greatly appreciated if you could offer a suggestion. Many thanks, Trisha
Hi Josh, so I watched your video in hopes that it would explain how to add the section for Recommendations which is currently not on my profile list, but I don't find it on the "add profile section" listing either, is it a section that is only available for those that pay? My profile only has 3 sections now, experience, endorsements and following. Any help with how to add recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
HI Josh. Close to signing up with you. What if you have a couple of different ID's that you want to promote EG: IT Marketer and Security Trainer, two very distinct careers but ones that I run in parallel. Is it the norm to have 2 or more ID's on LinkedIN?
I'd promote both. You could say something like "IT Markting | IT Security Trainer | Helping professionals become more proficient at security and marketing in the IT industry."
Do you now have to upgrade to a premium subscription in order to see the screens you are showing? My goal was to find out how to add media to my profile (which I have done in the past). Now I don't see that option. My edit profile page does not show the same screens as what you are showing.
Great question. I'd say leverage the skills that you do have from school, internships etc. If you can acquire those skills with an unpaid internship, that's possibly an option. Most job postings are going to have a range of needed skills. Chances are you have some of those already even with no experience. Hope that helps.
Under contact and personal info, we do not have a places to enter our Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram links as you show at timecode 10:56. Is that paid only?
Looks like LinkedIn might have made this a premium feature. I don't have a premium account but I think I was grandfathered in. They don't let me edit anymore.
I added some recent volunteer positions, but LinkedIn put them below my oldest volunteer positions where no one will see them, even though the dates are more current. I can't figure out how to move the recent positions to the top. Is it possible to reorder volunteer experience?
Thank you - I tried that but can't do it. Since commenting here, I found this - apparently they took away that functionality, which makes no sense - www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/forum/question/493413
I am not sure if you ever got around to letting people know how to edit their profile in private. I think I know how to upload things but I know there's a way to edit "in private" - should have been the first thing you mention. Even though you keep talking about editing, so far haven't mentioned editing in private so everytime you change something, it doesn't get broadcast to your network. Huge important but I am too impatient to wait till the end to find out if you ever mention. Things you are telling us seem kind of obvious....
I wanted to ask something. I have selected 'Follow' option on the page of a famous personality, but unlike all other cases, his name is not being shown in my 'Interests' section. Why is this so? Thank You in advance
Dear Josh Gwin, Thank you very much for this very useful vedio. I am facing one issue, on my linked In account I could not found the recommendations section. Can you tell me where I can find this section. Thanks in Advance.
Great question. I believe the recommendations section gets added to your LinkedIn profile automatically once you get your first recommendation. Do you already have recommendations?
I have recently prepared my Linkedin profile i.e. a week ago. So far I do not have any recommendation, how normally it works, I mean, any body can recommend directly in my profile??? or I ask them or give them permission??
I've found the best way to get recommendations is to give them to several people. Then request them from those people. The way @Sasha Anderson recommended is the best way to do it. When on a connections profile in the top box with their profile picture you will see three dots to the right side. Click on this and then select "request a recommendation".
Thank you very much Sasha Andersen and Josh Gwin for the reply...I have already found the option and even received two recommendations from my colleagues....Any ways thanks for support...
My Desktop LinkedIn is completely white. Only info I can see if I click my pic, upper right corner. other than that, all the other links are empty. Any suggestions?
You can upload a resume on LinkedIn under your summary or experience sections using the add media button. Upload your resume as a pdf file. Or you could upload it to Google drive or Box and just put a link to your resume in your LinkedIn summary. Hope that helps.
I am currently working with LinkedIn on securing a career and future goals as well.
casey mahoney LinkedIn is a great resource for that. Best of luck!
Awesome! I love that you have an updated version of this. Thanks for sharing! 👍🏼
Josh, tks for the great video. Question, I try to move around some recommendations like you showed, however, is this only possible when you have the Premium subscription? The system does not allow is for the general subscription.
I don't have a premium subscription Dirk. LinkedIn changes stuff regularly though. What's requiring a premium subscription? Thanks!
Josh, thing is I cannot move around my references like you showed. Should I contact LinkedIn?
LOL...good luck "contacting" that idiot place Dirk...its really NOT worth your sanity

I'll put a video out on this. Thanks!

I'm not aware that you can do that Akram. Please let me know if you find out otherwise.
Okay Josh will do!

Nice Video. Quick Q - Is it possible to re order the sections in linkedIn. Is it something LinkedIn removed recently ?
Great question Anish. LinkedIn removed this as far as I know. I used to do this too but I believe they've taken it away.

Do you have recommendations from people yet Sherelle? It probably automatically shows up once you get them. Let me know as I'm curious about this now.

Thanks Josh for video! I can now go update my profile with confidence! ;)
You're welcome Jo. Thanks for commenting.
So Joe... how'd that work out for you??? This is a fake video dumdum

Thanks Ilene. LinkedIn may have updated their platform since this video was recorded. Here's a quick gif showing how to do it. cl.ly/sJwc.
You are a pro. Thanks for making this video.
Thank you for watching!
Thank you very much Josh. I learned a lot from this video. Wish you Happiness and Success in your life.
Thanks Ravi!
Nice & very helpful.
Thank you!
Why does my most recent Volunteer Experience appear at the bottom of this section? Can I change the order?
You should be able to under the edit icon.
How do you view your profile as a connection or someone who's searched for you. I can't find it within the update!
Thanks!
Thanks for the answer! Is there a work around for this?
What do you need to do if you don't have particular work experience and currently looking for their first job?
Great question. I'd say leverage the skills that you do have from school, internships etc. If you can acquire those skills with an unpaid internship, that's possibly an option. Most job postings are going to have a range of needed skills. Chances are you have some of those already even with no experience. Hope that helps.
should i add my extracurricular achievements mainly sports to my profile ?
if yes how should i do it
I'd add them to a section under the accomplishments tab.
Josh Gwin thank you
I want to undue the «do not share update with network» to share. How do I do this?
Under contact and personal info, we do not have a places to enter our Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram links as you show at timecode 10:56. Is that paid only?

Not sure but it would be drag and drop if it is. Please let me know if you are able to do it.
Thank you - I tried that but can't do it. Since commenting here, I found this - apparently they took away that functionality, which makes no sense - www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/forum/question/493413
That's crazy. They made that functionality easier everywhere else too.

I'm not sure on this. You may check with LinkedIn support.
Okay. Thank You : )
You are very welcome. Hope that helps. LinkedIn support is where I go if I can't find an answer. They're usually pretty helpful.
Nice

i want my experience to be after my education. is it possible?
Great question. I don't think you can at this point. Maybe in the future they'll allow this.
How do I edit my interests?
Very nice...!
Thank you :)

HOw do we upload a resume?
You can upload a resume on LinkedIn under your summary or experience sections using the add media button. Upload your resume as a pdf file. Or you could upload it to Google drive or Box and just put a link to your resume in your LinkedIn summary. Hope that helps.
New LinkedIn is not very user friendly.....Old one is best...!!!!
Great point. I used to think that as well but now I like the new one better.

Um, ah, er... I'd be far more inclined to watch this if both the video and audio were edited. Much time is wasted with such annoyances.
Appreciate the feedback Chris.
