To those struggling with this, I couldn't get this to work following the exact steps in the video either. I did eventually manage to get it to work though. I managed to get to work by following the steps in the video with some changes: 1. Firstly, I am running an RTX 2070 SUPER, and my SOLIDWORKS version is 2020 2. I did NOT put the new key in the 'Other' folder, I put it in the 'NV40' folder 3. I DID name the new key exactly as my graphics card was named in the Graphics>Hardware>Current folder. For me it was 'GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER/PCIe/SSE2' 4. I DID add a new DWORD(32bit) Value called 'Workarounds' in my new GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER/PCIe/SSE2 key 5. In my SOLIDWORKS 2020, there was a pre-existing graphics card in the 'NV40' folder called 'Quadro RTX'. The existing Quadro RTX key has a DWORD(32bit) value of 32408. I used this data value (32408) for my new 'GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER/PCIe/SSE2' key that I created for my graphics card. I think the key to getting this to work is to try to find a graphics card that is similar to yours, that already exists in the registry, and to use it's DWORD(32bit) value. Hope this helps! P.S. I am running a 64 bit system and still used the DWORD(32bit) Value.

Navigate to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SolidWorks\SOLIDWORKS 2015\Performance\Graphics\Hardware\Current" 3.) The right side should be empty but an entry (Default) whose data is "value not set" 9.) rightclick in the right side and create "New / DWORD (32-bit) Value" 10.) Rename the DWORD to "Workarounds" and, after that, doublecklick it 11.) Leave the "Base" to "Hexadecimal" and enter 30008 into the field "Value data" 12.) Leave the Registryeditor open and start Solidworks. Create a new part / open an old one and try to enable RealView. If RealView is still greyed out: 13.) Close Solidworks and go back to the registry editor. Doubleclick the DWORD "Workarounds" and change the "Value data" to 30408 14.) Fire up Solidworks and try again to activate Realview (Part or Assembly open) EDIT: A useful post by another user on the subject "For anyone looking into doing this, be sure to add the new key (in steps 5 and 6 of Leucetius' answer) to the correct folder for your graphics card. You will probably need to find the equivalent workstation card to your graphics card, then find that card's folder under GL2Shaders, then add your new key to that folder. For example, I have an Nvidia Geforce GTX 560, which uses the Fermi micro-architecture. So I Google'd the Quadros, and found that the Quadro 600, 5000, and 6000 are also based on Fermi, and those three Quadros are under the NV40 folder in the registry. Hello, how can I know which folder under "GI2Shaders" I have to use. I googled and find like 10 different answers, some make a new folder/key under "NV40". Some make one under "R420"... It's confusing. Also I notice in this video that some keys are made and then back deleted. Uhm??? Then there is a folder "V001_FG_R1018144156" automatically created and not deleted anymore... why? Isn't it important then? I'm worried that I'll mess around in some important settings of the system and then my computer will make problems. But first I don't know sure which graphic card I have. When I run "dxdiag" I find at "screen1" & "screen2" the "Intel(R) HD Graphics 520". But at the tab "weergeven" (in dutch) -> i find the "AMD Radeon (TM) R7 M360". The sticker at my laptop says aswell "AMD Radeon Graphics". But then being in the "regedit" whatching under "Current >> Renderer" I find the "Intel(R) HD Graphics 520". Probably that's the correct one but still confusing because I find different results... (I prefer to be sure 100% before starting to mess in the system settings). Then going on.... under "GI2Shades" >> under which folder I have to make a new key? And what hexadecimal value I have to use, because therefor I also find many values... (30008 seems to be the most used). Thanks for helping me out.
there're many vendor of Graphic card, if your laptop was build with Intel so you must create key value into Intel folder and if your VGA is Ndivia so create into NV40 and so on, i guest your laptop was build with 2 Graphic card and it works independently, your main graphic card should be AMD radeon , so pls go to AMD redeon graphic group and create folder there with same value with other AMD graphic, thanks for watching my friend!
Sorry again, it's normal if with realview graphics some object face are very dark? Or maybe i should try with a new value in the subfolder? @@Solidworksmaster

Every VGA card has specificly value, you just try to fake them by double click to specific VGA is listing was support by Solidworks, then go to items workarounds => double click to see what's value they put in , then copy them to you graphic card, just try one by one until they work well, i hope it will work for you, thanks for watching friend!

HI, I have Intel(R) Iris(R) Plus Graphics 655. What is the value to use and in which subfolder to make new key ?
Hey, Did you find any solution? I have the same and can't find much concerning this card...
Hi @@PiNeirinckx, i have got it to work with 4000080, but i have SW2016, SW2017 & SW2018 all installed and have different numbers. So here are some alternatives (1000009, 10000010, 4000480 & 4080080). It works when displaying parts and assemblies in Solidworks, but while browsing for files the icons of the different parts does not show correctly. I seem to remember i needed to close down the PC completely rather than a restart to get it to work. Home it helps. Peter
@@peterwang3052 Hey, thank you very much for your reply. I tried them all but none worked (I have SW2017), even after full reboot. Any idea why? :/
Hey there. May I ask which code you used for Solidworks 2017? I Still cannot get it to work... Thanks in advance!
@@PiNeirinckx i used 10000010
Hello, how can I know which folder under "GI2Shaders" I have to use.
Thanks for helping me out.
there're many vendor of Graphic card, if your laptop was build with Intel so you must create key value into Intel folder and if your VGA is Ndivia so create into NV40 and so on, i guest your laptop was build with 2 Graphic card and it works independently, your main graphic card should be AMD radeon , so pls go to AMD redeon graphic group and create folder there with same value with other AMD graphic, thanks for watching my friend!

what about the AMD Radeon (TM) R5 M320 graphic card . what is the number which i should write in Workarounds in hexadecimal
Every VGA card has specificly value, you just try to fake them by double click to specific VGA is listing was support by Solidworks, then go to items workarounds => double click to see what's value they put in , then copy them to you graphic card, just try one by one until they work well, i hope it will work for you, thanks for watching friend!
for AMD Radeon (TM) HD 8500M8700M used R420 with 31408
