  • (2017) FORD MUSTANG- IS IT WORTH IT?
We find out if the entry level ford mustang is worth it. The Ford mustang ecoboost has a 2.3 litre petrol engine that gives 317 BHP and a 0-62 time of 5.8 seconds.
Ford have brought the American muscle car or pony car should we say to the European market. The Mustang started life in 1964 as a Pony car, meaning its body is long at the front and short at the back.
Ford has designed an Eco boost engine for lower running costs but does it give the same thrills as a full V8 5 litre. The 2.3 litre turbocharged petrol engine does a convincing job at mimicking its V8 older brother.

I don't give a rats behind what anyone says, I've had the ecoboost in an automatic as a rental and loved it. In fact, I bought an F150 with the 2.7 ecoboost, I like Ford's turbos so much. I wouldn't waste money on a V8 ever again, not in a truck or car. I do wish the Mustang had a V6 ecoboost option, but the four cylinder was definitely a fun car to drive. It completely blows away V8's of the past. If you were a fan of 90's sporty cars that had turbos, this is on par with even the six cylinder turbos. And yes, it's far, far, far more efficien than a V8, so whoever's saying it's not is a bold faced liar. My 2.7 ecoboost F-150 gets 21 mpg combined in mostly daily city driving.

Good review. I love the idea of Mustangs galloping about the UK. I have a 2020 Mustang Ecoboost, was going to get the GT but couldn’t justify the added cost when it’s mostly for around town. I’ve been very happy with it that’s far. Still, every time I see a GT I’m half tempted to go trade for one…

Thanks for watching and commenting Jon. The eco boost can be good for around town but for the full mustang experience the full V8 would be best. Plus it’s badged on the side and you get the nice GT LOGO on the back also. I’f your thinking of upgrading I would say you should go for it. Test drive the V8 and see for yourself. Keep us updated 👍

If you get a convertible you can fit adults in the back.

Wow I find it hard to believe there is no mention of the TSB on the short block of the 2.3L . The short of it is that it’s crap! Ford being ford tryed to eek out as much power out that block missed a crucial mechanical short coming, the head gasket in that car is bound to fail at low to mid mileage with zero modifications done to said engine, I know because I had an eco mustang and the head gasket blew at 52,000 miles. This was not just a fluke, this engine is known for its problems with failure at the head gasket. Ford knows it and has done very little to correct the problem. Just hope if you buy one and the head gasket goes that your within your power train warranty. If not your left with the bill. This was the only reason I got rid of mine. Other than that I loved the car.

and it's cheap to modify, plus the 2,3 can get to 600hp with bolt ons, and a basic tune, and with turbos it can get to 800 easy

It’s the only way to afford this car in Europe ! The law about exhaust fumes is very clear here ! It’s better to fulfilled your dream this way instead of full the national coffers 🤣

I live in Greece ! We get taxes even for our breath 🤣 the law there is that you pay a yearly fee based on cc ! Think that a 2.0 car you have to pay around 600-700€ which means a monthly salary but if the car is less than 10years old model then you pay based on exhaust fumes. ! The price is ok ( 35-50K for a second hand mustang ) but the taxes don’t let us even look for cars like that with V8 engine and 4-5000 cc ! So the ecoboost is a solution for us ! Anyway it’s a dream car and I love to get it in the future ! Greetings from Greece !
