Rest In Peace Montez Coleman (The Drummer) who passed a few weeks ago. Truly impactful as a drummer, and demonstrates that here in this amazing performance.
Please Mr Clayton take care of yourself, the performance given this evening in Paris is priceless. So sad to read this information. Qu’un grand ange vous accompagne
😭
I just found him, this is so fucking sad
RIP. BAD BAD DRUMMER...EXCELLENT
Oh man. The joy that man brought to this recording. Its not right. You can watch this brilliant clip- with no sound- and fall in love with it just on the spirit of the smiles. Rip. Terrible.
This performance should be declared as a Jazz World Cultural Heritage.
Everytime i watch this performance and its definitely over 100 times now I am astonished and moved. Also i only discovered it a few months ago. Wow wow wow wtf i dont think i have witnessed such an amazing live piece of music ever. If i had one chance to jear any musician play past or present it was always to sit and hear Bach play live however this is on a par for sure. All fantastic musicians and without a doubt The Coolest Drum Player ever. He just Kills it and of course all the musicians are just outstanding. Tear in my eyes every single time. Wow wow wow
"It's a fun place!"
@@robertwhiteemail "The Coolest Drum Player ever" YES. Montez Coleman is phenomenal on this. RIP to a master.
I'm addicted to this awesome piece...so is my 4y.o. Grand-dude Kendrick aka Bear 🐻
@@charlottebutler3761 I can't resist: Give your Grand-dude Kendrick a Bear Hug for all of us!!!
This is the newest song I'd consider that has become a jazz standard
For sure. I mean, who doesn't love this?
@@jorymil Maybe someone that had a really really bad experience at Strasbourg St. Denis train station.
Montez is gone. Roy is gone. Whom ever keeps removing this video- I doubt either would be happy depriving the world of its grace and beauty. Think of that pls next tine someone takes down : this epic homage to americas greatest art form - and the two lions who are no longer with us, helped create. With their own dedicated sweat and brilliance. Think it over.
money grubbers
One of my favorite parts is when Roy returns after Justin Robinson's killer solo with tear marks on his eyes
the pianist oozes the ultimate in funk and cool! he and drummer seem to feed off each other. Great stuff. I could live off just this much!!
Gerald Clayton is a musician's musician.
Look at the bassist too!!!
I’d like to thank God for the gift of Roy Hargrove. May he rest in peace.
"Strasbourg Saint Denis" actually played in Strasbourg Saint Denis at the New Morning in Paris. Being in that room that day is one of the best memories of my life, seldom have I witnessed a band take such an ownership of space and time. Those first few notes and your could see 200 heads nodding, what a song, what a band !
Lucky you! Btw Strasbourg Saint Denis is named after the metro station of the same name, near the New Morning as you said
Gerald Clayton is so amazing here! Such a creatively funky use of the piano
Big Thank you for bringing this MASTERPIECE back online !
Yes!!! Thank you for finally getting these added back.
Pp
THIS!! Absolutely amazing! Gerald Clayton is a beast on the keys throughout this entire cut! LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS!
The ORIGINAL Original had NO Less than 30 MILLION Views!!!!...FACTS!!!!!
This is my favorite Strasbourg St. Denis by Hargrove. Part 1 - Yes! The original is always original and can't be duplicated.
This is my favorite too!
This is a famous jazz club called « New Morning » in Paris, where Roy used to play every time he came there. « Strasbourg St Denis » is the name of the metro station nearby. So moving to see Roy and his band, I have been lucky to see him there three or four times. I think it was where Roy gave his last concert in October 2018…
If you like Jazz photography, the walls of the club are covered with photos by Philippe Lévy-Stab, feel free to have a look at his website, the photos are stunning.
The station -chateau d’ eau- ( line 4 ) is even closer 😊
heard Montez Coleman passed. RIP buddy. Such a sad loss - only 48 years old.
(we shoulda seen it coming though - dude was f****ing SICK!! :D)
いつかまたこのビデオがアップロードされることを願っていました。ありがとうございます!!また見ることができて幸せです。
Thank you very very much for uploading this legend video!! So happy to see it ! I was missing it because it was gone for a while.
May Montez be in heavenly drummin heaven paradise, with his loved ones, and all the others great drummers, jammin forever in peace and eternal groovy fashion, obviously, with Roy too, we celebrate their life and beautiful legacy with a joyful tear 🙏
One of my favorite jazz standards cuz it has the funk factor
Thank you for posting the video, was afraid when the original one got taken down we'd never be able to find it on YT again
This masterpiece lives on. RIP Roy.
You have led us to where we should be! For some reason this video disappears every time. All of humanity should listen to this and be saved.
When you first hear that muted piano sounds, you want it normal, but after you enjoy it, you just can't live without that sound!
I thought it was a guitar at first.
Thanks for posting the video , you’re a real hero !
omg this is back up! one of my fav videos
Been looking for the live performance a long time . Thanks for reposting
배순탁의 비사이드 마지막 방송에서 나온 이 재즈 음악을 절대 잊을 수 없을 것 같아요 어제 마지막 방송을 듣고 이 영상을 보는분이 있겠죠
Good gracious Gerald Clayton!!
god it's so discouraging to hear that total beast of a pianist just zoom through the most gorgeous chords and melodies ever, and I'm over here struggling to play a single solo. Shit, man.
Who's here in 1892?! 😊
The piano solo with the reharms is the best thing I've ever heard play over this tune
Yeeeeeessssss! My favourite rendition of theirs.
I love the way Mr. Hargrove looks at Mr. Clayton, the pianist.
Clayton can really play. He went in an interesting direction with his music. Less swinging more introspective stuff
@@artherladett442 quite imaginative too! that plunky sound out of the piano, while not totally original, was quite well-adapted.
Awesome RH clip And...let's give it up for Danton Boller for maintain a killer groove!
Please upload the 2 parts as one video. I've been looking for this performance for a long time! Thank you for your uploads.
Hard to watch through my tears for Roy and Montez.
One of the greatest jazz records ever made. Perfect ensemble, perfect solos, perfect rhythm section.
Gerald Clayton is such an amazing pianist.
That was the first ever tune that made me interested in jazz. I'm learning jazz guitar now, several years later.
最高にかっこいい!
ロイもそうなんですが、ジェラルド・クレイトンというピアニストのタッチが
又良いですね。
merci pour tout, j'adore cette version du newmorning de 2007 il me semble

Don't sleep on Danton "OG" Boller!!!
My condolences. RIP Sir!. 😇🙏
We lost a jazz legend! Roy Hargrove❤
Thanks dude I thought this recording was lost
Thanks so much for the upload! Do you have any idea how I might get access to the full DVD?
It was a long journey to find this old video. Thank you so much !
Это настоящее чудо-воплащение любви творца в звуке!!!
Damn I always come back to this when I don’t feel like practicing lol..
RIP TEZ
That tone and swing is killing me and the transcription so gorgeous!

Sorry, not sorry 1:49 SUS
Merci pour cet extraordinaire morceau. J'étais un adepte du New morning et l'ai hélas raté. RIP Roy Hargrove
Thank you for reposting this. It was missing from youtube for awhile. Brilliant performance. Wish I was there in person!
One of the best performances on RUclips!
What a lovely, lovely arrangement of music by Roy Hargrove; I am sure this music was inspired by a very special and beautiful woman in Paris that my brother met. Most songs that are so soulful and heartfelt come from, "True chemistry between man and woman"! One day I must visit Paris and experience such a beautiful and lovely french woman via Strasbourg St. Denis!
It's actually full of prostitutes haha
Is the great and fine jazz here like fine champagne and caviar, or since it definitely has the soul of the players making the music…is it another version of fine soul music?🎶
Excelente banda y me encanta este tema🎼🎵❤️🎷
Thanks for the upload. RIP one of the greats.
Grazie Raffaele! 🥰, peccato solo non vedere quando Roy risponde al pubblico prima dell'inizio del brano.
This is excellent!!!!
