  • Here I'm showing is my all time favorite Kenmore direct air upright. I got this vacuum about four and a half years ago from eBay for under $200 I believe plus shipping. Came with the hose and crevice tool but the bags I later bought separately. All I needed to do was replace the belt. Other than that, there was one problem with this when I received it. The handle was bent forward due to poor packaging from the seller so I was able to get a partial refund. Despite that, it works awesome and I'm just so happy to finally get one of these cause I've been after one for a long time. I first saw one of these on RUclips several years ago and I just immediately fell in love with it. looks so cool, sounds very pleasant, and it's such a fun toy to play around with. These were competitors to the Hoover Concept Ones and Eureka Precisions. No matter how much I love this vacuum, I humbly think the Hoovers were better made machines next to Eureka and then these. I can tell the Hoovers were more solid, they clean better, and more reliable cause I don't see very many of these left anymore. This came in excellent condition, it looked and smelled as if this came from an older couple's home. I did noticed that the self propelled feature is very crappy. I don't know if it's either because they were always like that, there's something wrong with the transmission, or just that the handle is bent. I was originally going to look into the handle but because I wasn't able to get suggestions from others and with how old, especially rare this vacuum is, I decided not to mess with it anymore. Anyways despite it's flaws, I'd honestly buy one of these over the Hoovers and Eurekas even though the Eurekas are my all time favorite direct air uprights. I like how much taller it is to press the cord rewind button, light bulbs are easier to get into, bags are easier to replace, and I don't need a converter to hook the hose onto these. And with the matching grey Kenmore canisters, these would make a better team to clean a house cause I know I like the Kenmore canisters more than Hoover's and Eureka's back in the day. One of these days I'd love to find the white non self propelled model as well as the other Whirlpool/Panasonic direct air uprights similar to these such as the black Heavy Duty Plus for example.
    Hope you enjoyed!

This reminds me of the older Kenmore duo power ease self-propelled upright from 1977 through 78. It was a cool upright, it had two Motors. One for the vacuum and one for the self-propelled feature. The self-propelled motor had three travel speed options, low, med, high then off. And what was cool is when you would lower the handle it would stay in the reclined position all by itself and it wouldn't fall over. I remember as a kid using it quite a bit cuz I had to do the vacuuming and it was so cool to use it and it would make this really cool sound when you would Engage The self-propelled motor I wish I could find one of those I would love to have one. It was blue and white and it had the faux wood grain on top of the headlight and then also on top of the switch panel which had high and low and then off I would love that vacuum

I love the fact that these old kenmores have a wiring diagram similar to a car when you lift the hood tells you were belt diagram or fuse diagram is if you removed the fuse panel, shame to see a lot of these old kenmores got heavily used and abused over the years, there good vacuums but I see alot especially the twin fan models are subject to bearing failure atleast the ones ive got used

I've seen this model type with the Kenmore and Whirlpool branding, but I don't think Panasonic ever had its name on these. They were already starting to go obsolete by the time Masushita rolled into town.

Yeah so far I've never seen one of these under the Panasonic brand. Would've been cool if so. But they were already being outdated anyways.

You don't see too many vintage pre-Panasonic Kenmore's this clean. I love how Concept One looking it is, and that hose connection, I wonder if they had this feature before the Hoover Elite did.

At least with this machine, it's built in 91.
