  • Here I'm showing is one of my favorite Kenmores that I own in my collection. This vacuum is made by Panasonic. I got this vacuum 8 years ago from my old local vacuum store. It was originally brought in for repair but apparently they never got back in touch with my buddy. I did ask him if I can have it so it sat in the store for a few years until finally he decided to let me have it. He was originally going to charge me but the problem with this when it originally came in for repair was the brushroll housing got melted on the brushroll endcap slots were at so I had to order a new housing from Sears as well as a new brushroll because the other one got thrown away. The new housing was like $50 and the brushroll was like $70. With that price that I've paid for the parts, he didn't charge me for this. Other than that, it was all worth it because I have been after one of these for a very long time and this is overall the best Kenmore that I've ever used! This was a childhood vacuum. After we've sold our first cabin in 2003 and built another one a year later. We went up there for the first time when the contractors we just finishing up. They had two vacuums that they were using. The first one was a Eureka The Boss Power I think was called, it was one of their Bravo models that was hard bagged, black, 12 amp, and it had a headlight like my Boss Plus but the decals and stickers were different. And the other one was a Kenmore Progressive that looked just like this one. Same color, same vacuum but I remember the decals were silver instead of gold, it also had dirt sensors and a full bag indicator light as well. It was like one of their top of the line models back then. So the vacuum that we've had up there which was a central vacuum, it wasn't fully hooked up yet so we had to borrow one of the contractor's vacuums. I was wanting to borrow the Kenmore but I was told that it had just broke so we had no choice but to use the Eureka until the central vacuum was up and running. I don't remember what was wrong with it but one odd thing that I did noticed with their's was they've put a rounded commercial plug on the cord. Anyways I was so glad that I founded one of these. I think these are my most favorite Kenmores that Sears has ever sold. My most favorite one would be that same model that I remembered when I was a kid. I would to find that exact model one of these days so I can part ways with this one but I would also love to find a bagless version of one these as well. Overall, this is also by far the best Kenmore that I've ever used! Incredible agitation, powerful suction and airflow, and easier to access inside to change the belt and light bulb. When I used to use this as main vacuum, I would always be impressed by how many dirt this thing would really pick up because I really like the brushroll Panasonic later improved on.
    Hope you enjoyed!

I agree, it's a great vacuum and I also agree that it has a different feel to it compare to the direct drive models. While I like the direct drive washing machines better, I personally like the belted vacuums better.

@@panasonicvac4036 I also like how some of the replacement brush rolls you can get for these (which probably came factory on the later model Progressive uprights) are an oblique style brush roll (similar to Kirby G5 and up brush roll).

I love these Kenmores. My grandmother used to have one when I was very little. Unfortunately the motor died. Then they got the smart vac. Childhood vac of mine. And a great one at that!

hey Panasonic vac, one more question, would it be high pitched or sound crunchy or make crackling sounds? bc theres many sounds it could make! and also this is the first vacuum I ever found at a trash! :D

Depending on how much water it got in, it would sound similar to this: www.vidlii.com/watch?v=YatG3uWeWuF
Also depending on how much it got in, there's a possibility that the sound could wear off if you were using it. There's also a possibility that a burning smell may come out of the motor but sometimes that could also wear off as well. But if neither of those two work, then you're likely going to need to lube or grease the motor bearings and clean the armature which that's something an authorized vacuum dealer should do for you. It should mostly fix the problem but there's a slight possibility that the bearings may be too shot for the motor which would be unfortunate to replace because it's not replaceable and therefore you would need another motor. Keep in mind that motors for these are no longer available to get so your best chance would be to find another Kenmore with a working motor if that were to be the case.

I would file away the rust on the motor shaft as the rust will heat up and wear out your belt quicker. You can do it with the machine running very quickly, but be careful! Also, use a fine file, not a course file.

I was looking around in the trash a few days ago at the time this comment was made. and I found this Kenmore progressive 100 vac same as the one on this video. so I brought it home and I refurbed it. it has a bit of rust on the shaft, so if anyone knows if its okay to run it, let me know. also, I bought a new style ribbed Kenmore progressive belt and 5055 C bags 10 of em, just in case if your wondering what I got for this bagged upright vacuum cleaner. it was also horrible when I found it, the bag was full, the hose was stuck, the belt roller brush had gross dirt and stuff on it, the whole vacuum was dirty and etc. let me know if you need any info about this vacuum!

I found 10 to 15 vacuums (mostly Bissells) in the trash over the last five years, including a Kenmore Progressive 100 just yesterday. I was able to refurb most of them. They are usually simply clogged, and have a broken belt, or both. And of course, they are always missing at least one attachment.
