Thanks for the video. I searched and found it. My wife accidently ran over a spool of sewing thread. The brush roller unwound the spool and sucked that up pretty quick. It got between the end of the roller and the metal cap where the bearing is and seized the roller up tight. I played your video and followed along to get that apart and was able to clear out all the thread and reassemble. Works fine now. Nice job.
Thank you so so much for making this video it helped me pull apart mi kenmore to give it a good wash. Very complete content and very easy to follow along, I had gotten stuck trying to figure out where else I needed to unscrew and this video made it a whole lot easier.
Perfect timing with this teardown. Just picked up my second one of these at Goodwill for under 30 bucks. Couldn't quite figure out how to pop the base off to de hair the brush roll end caps, didn't think to try the hood.
Great video, I am glad I found your video. I am trying to replace the power cord, should not be too hard, or so I thought... Since I discovered the lower hose is cracked too, I will wait until that part is in before I finish taking the vacuum head apart. I would just replace the vaccuum but it was very expensive and we like the performance. I certainly hope I can get it all back together and that I don't have very many left over screws. Update: I did get the hose and was able to install it and the power cord without too much extra effort but only because of this Teardown video and the subsequent Reassembly video, Thank you for the detailed videos. I did not have any extra parts when I was finished and the vacuum works very well.
Great video! I was looking up how to clean the brush. So helpful to know it is its own assembly and costs more than the machine itself. It's been a great machine through several Golden Retrievers. Also did not know Persil was great for stinky stuff. Thank you!
I recently just sucked up part of a scarf and the brush wouldn't turn on... After watching this video I was able to tear it down and fix it myself. Thank you so much for making this!
Excellent vid. It let me know that if mine ever breaks I'm just gonna toss it!. My God! I never would have guessed that any vac could have soooooo many screws and circuit boards!
Thanks for the video! I have this vac and the short suction hose in the base has severe cracking. Couldn't figure out how to get the bottom cover off...the top cover comes off instead! Thank you!
G'day mate, newly subscribed and I have to say your vids are awesome. I have been washing HEPA filters since I came across the first one in a Bissel carpet steam cleaner that was going to cost more than I was prepared to pay, I just use liquid laundry detergent and the garden hose on a hard spray/stream.
I'm very interested to see the testing numbers on this, my parents own this exact model that currently resides with me while they're overseas, I know it's the most powerful dual motor upright in my vacuum "fleet" (even more powerful than my Electrolux Epic 3500 SR Upright), but I want to know exactly how powerful it is.
Our Elite still works (suction) but the agitator / brush won’t rotate. Tried reset button. I’m going to dismantle it and maybe brush is jammed. No parts for replacing the roller brush. Thanks for this video.
I am very excited to see this machine's test results since it was so very well rated. Also I have two of it's predecessors the blue grey bagged Progressive and Green Bag Intuition. Be nice to know how it compared with those two machines.
The roller stoped on mine , can hardly move it on carpet now because the suction is so good . Going to tear it down… hopefully find the issue. Great vac . Thx for sharing
I thought the motor burned out when my wife sucked up a long string. After completely cleaning of the brush of the string, hair, thread, fur etc, I pushed the "Overload Protection Reset" button on the top of the cover (didn't even notice it at first) and voila!, it worked it again!
That persil ultra fresh sure is the way to go! It’s so heavily perfumed I can still smell it on my clothes after multiple rinses in my washer! I actually recently used it to clean a smelly filter from my dyson. There is no trace of the smell anymore!
Hey I doubt you’ll see this, but I have one that I got for $15. The switch on the top has only activated the brush roll, the suction motor will not turn on. I took the switches apart and operated them manual inside the handle and it still doesn’t turn the suction motor on. Have you heard/seen of this problem before? I can’t imagine why this is happening unless the motor burned out. All the wiring looks fine.
Follow Up: I just needed to watch the entire video duhhh 😆 I'm glad I found your video there is not much info I can find on this model. Can you let me know how to change the floor carpet brush in this model? Being beltless is it a sealed brush that can't be replaced? Any links to an article or video on doing it? If you have an email to make it easier to communicate, that would be great. Doug
Well the filter is actually quite a distance from the rear exhaust, so it can't really do any damage. That and the motor wasn't straining at all during the flushing.
Thanks for this video. Now I know how much (absurd amount of) work it would be to get to the underside of that brush roll cover - mine is filthy after a year or so of home vacuuming (with pets). One more poor design element of this vacuum...
The brushes have worn down on mine, otherwise it has been a great vacuum. Prices I found nowadays for the part, KC92SDWFZ000, are more than the vacuum cost to begin with. I see some replacements listed here and there that don't have the wires, I wonder if those just feed through, or if they serve a purpose in the middle of that beater bar.
Not gonna lie, I too wash my old parts even when I have new ones on order. Sacrifice the old EF9 in the name of science! 😁 Also the preemptive Baird measurements seem to match up well with my results for the 31140, so maybe these machines are closer than we thought...
I just bought one of these vacuums, I like it so far....after doing research and getting recommendations for a Shark, some others said I might be better off going for one of these Kenmores. What is the life expectancy of one of these brushrolls? I've run the vacuum twice and a few of the bristles are already looking a little bent...Something to be concerned about?

in my opinion I wouldn’t wash Hepa filters because it will break down the minerals in the filters , or it will fall apart, and you really can’t get it perfect.
That's what so great about science done properly. Results don't care about opinions. That's why I started my channel back in May of 2017. Cheaper to buy a whole new machine rather than the over complicated brushroll
