- In this video I show two of the latest vintage Hoover Constellations I’ve added to my collection and compared it with the modern Maytag Satellite.

Looking at the serial number on that Swedish Green Connie I would hazard an educated guess that it was made in 1966, just before the more modern Hoover dating system came in which was in 1967. That colour scheme would have run during the mid 60s alongside the matching coloured 652A and 1334A uprights.
The blue one was as you correctly deduced from date code 411 was indeed from 1974, month 11 so November 1974.
I think most of us born in the 60s and 70s would have known someone from our families or friends that had one of these, I know my Aunt had one and I was pretty impressed as a child at its ability to float on a cushion of air. My parents never had one though as my father always bought uprights - they had a Hoover Ranger U4002 throughout the 70s - another very popular vacuum as you know.
That's madness! It reminds me of a air hockey puck, I would of definitely got one of those if I was around then.
Yeah what sorcery lol 😂🤨😂
Congrats on the new additions! I have just one original Hoover Constellation myself, and then I have the re-release model from 2006 which was the partner to the Maytag Satellite.
I think for us in the States, the "modern" Constellation is so rare, that importing the Satellite with a step-up transformer is likely the only option we have now a days if we want one. I remember seeing it on Hoover's website back when it was launched, but I've never seen it in any store or any promotional material for it. I don't know how many they sold, but it couldn't be very many. According to Julie Truster, they did have it on HSN for a very short time, but I have yet to find a demo video of it. I don't know if lack of sales lead to its demise, or it was canned due to the TTI buyout in '07.
It's ok Roger I can't keep box cutters either I lose them or my brother steals them. The way the constellation is designed to float on air is actually really cool.
These always remind me of our Henry Hoover.
Oh wow , how wonderful
I think there should be a green handle on this swedish green version🤔
I wonder why they didn't name it "Saturn" instead? 😂 That would have been perfect, with the way it looks. Was that name already taken?
Brilliant video Roger, I so love these machines and just think that there is something magical about them. I remember when maytag brought out that copy and did think about getting one at the time but still prefer the original.
Ps. Hope you don't mind me asking but do you have a spare all purpose nozzle that you would consider to sell please?
Take care and keep up with these enjoyable videos on both your channels
29:15 this can be filled in with epoxy and repaired.
Are you ever going to fix the hoover 638??
The Hoover Vac s are very loud!
I was really happy when I bought my Maytag from the House of Frazer back in 2002 - the suction power was amazing. However I was quite disappointed after a while - the bags were unavailable and even the Constellation bags didn't fit and although it really glided exceptionally well over the carpets it literally blew all the dust and dirt around the floor. Anything that was at floor level that was lightweight was blown over, and after about 6 months the turbo head plastic drive fans inside snapped when it tried to pick up a piece of rolled paper, and no matter where I tried I could not get a replacement or an equivalent..........
I believe Henry tools should fit.
@@ibaisaic I was told that too, ordered a replacement turbohead (the red one) and no it didn't fit.... so after using the cleaner with just the carpet tool for a further few months I gave it away in the end because by that time Maytag service had stopped their UK service supplies. Many years ago now though.......
Even if you were home i bet you still cant find your cutter😂
What does that mean?
@@chrisbrasher6177 couldn’t he find it a couple of videos ago and
6:25 Here in the USA FedEx is who does that. I have a running kill list of everything that I ordered that FedEx has destroyed. It's up to 16 things now.
Off topic but what's s good decent vacuum cleaner for a car
A Numatic Henry or similar. I don’t rate any cordless or hand held car vacuums I’ve used.
@ibaisaic brilliant recommendation thanks 😊
FIRST
Hoover Saturn would have been a better name 🪐
