- Joe Bonamassa & Kerry Marx on guitar. Bob Patin piano. Tearing it up on great versions of "Secret Agent Man" and "House of the Rising Sun". This was a tribute to the great guitarist Nokie Edwards from The Ventures.

Just blows me away. Just gets better with time.
Joe's hero to me, he makes whatever guitar he's got in hand sing a new tune! Too my old ears at any rate...
Joe can do it all blues, soul, surf, rock what a talent
You left out jazz-fusion...
Love how each guitar has a different voice in the master's hands. I am so blessed to be able to hear him play.
Joe Bonanza is from another planet.
As much as I love Joe's stage alter ego, The Man In The Suit, I really get to appreciate his love of the craft in more relaxed situations like this. Secret Agent Man moves to the top of my "Must Learn" list.
These renditions exceed the originals, in my opinion. Makes me feel better than any drug on the market!
Awesome performance
his individual crystallized style dominated the song, which thus became a specific JB improvisation👍❤️
Well thats the answer for people who don't think Joe has soul for guitar playing!! Well done Mr. Bonanza!!!
eddie fuentes , people that give Joe Bonamassa a thumbs down are Completely Clueless
I already knew the answer
Wow, what a fantastic re mix of my all time favorite song.... there go all those notes again!! Only Joe can do it better than the original ... he exceeds all expectations every time. Greatest living guitarist. Period.
I always loved Secret Agent Man. It was from a TV show in the 1960's before reality TV was invented.
My fav! I was completely in love with Patrick Mcgoohan!
Truly mesmerizing performance! I've never heard a better version of House of the Rising Sun! I sit here amazed!
Amazing indeed.... If you like it, you should listen to the version of Michael Burks
@@saucesacla Leslie West also did a killer version of this old classic!
Watched the show always loved the opening, 2 Cool!
House of the rising sun...U N B E L I E V A B L E !!! Joe and Roy...GREAT !
I loves Joe's playing! I saw Johnny Rivers a few times in the 1980's and that man could sure play the guitar!
what a master guitarist.
Nothing beats variety. Joe Bonamassa has it covered.. and even old piano players play the House of the Rising Sun..
Thank you more !!!
the man just keeps getting better with age
I must be getting old because I can remember the good old days when CAAS was about fingerstyle guitar in general and Chet Atkins in particular.
Those volume swells on HRS were brilliant
Thanks Joe you still take me on that musical ride every time. Only you can make a guitar bring out a sound that is AMAZING brother. You are the greatest MAN !!! GOD HAS BLESSED YOU, MUCH LOVE.... 🎼🎤🎸🎸🎸🎸🎵🎶
I love this more than everething
Lord , is enything in the whole world what Joe couldn't to do ? Fantaaastic!!!
He plays from older times and modern times. Amazing guitarists with a big heart for music!
L'actuel meilleur guitariste au monde, Joe Bonamassa tous les jours je kiff
Joe Bonamassa is the best I've ever witnessed live and I've seen them all in my 58 years of life I've been playing for 45 years and can play a bit but this guy has something special going on
You may have missed Danny Gatton and the Hellecasters
Fantastic!! New found bigger respect for J.B.
Just a Tele and a 59 tweed twin ripping the OZONE UP !!
Volume swells from Heaven!!
He's climbing the list of best players for me, this performance elevated him even more from my POV. About a year ago I was floored by his slide playing on this tune with Beth Hart's excellent vocals. He nails the tone perfect with the P-90's and perfect amp choice (basically flawless). ruclips.net/video/ioQKULTa0dE/видео.html
House of The Rising Sun was brilliant. Love it!
One summer we hitch hiked around with the cover band, the animals!
The most tasteful thing I've heard Joe play in a long time. Great stuff.
Such passion playability.
Getting crazy Junior Brown vibes off this one. Spectacular!
They would've still honored Nokie if they'd sung it... Those tunes are so fun
to sing it must've been an act of will not to.
Thanx for posting, Natasha and...
cheers
I'm glad to see (hear) that I'm not the only person who's still inspired by Roy Buchanan. The work with the volume knob, on "House of the Rising Sun," is superb.
Beautiful Telecaster!!! Joe's the Man!
I own the same one. Got it in 1980. Still have it and it's going "in the box" with me when I die! Will NEVER part with it.....EVER!
Awesome! How could anyone give it a thumbs down? It was incredible!👍😎🎸🎶
Some people can just replicate playing styles of people they like but Joe can even manage to replicate pitch perfect tones of people he likes. Unreal.
So wonderful, you are amasing, damm god, I love it. Thank you
Thanks a lot for posting! Just Fabulous!!
That was amazing!!!!!!!!!!
Thank You for this, from Colorado! Thank You
Incredible.
Little do photographers know how obnoxious the clicking of their cameras are during performances. Great job by Joe!
1AnitrasDance I Think This IS THE BEST I've heard Him PLAY!!! He DOES GET BETTER EVERYDAY! HAVE FUN in Nebraska TONIGHT!
YES Natasha this Gives Me NEW APPRECIATION of these Songs!
Beautifully amazing
I love everything he does. I rarely listen to anything else.
Nokie would be proud
Perfect!
Joe, you are amazing !
Nokie being honored....so awesome love this
thanks for posting
Joe seems to have more fun doing what he does than any man has a right too.
Thanks Joe I was chastised for breaking old school standard play but I'm going back in the same as you great job bro
Love the guy playing keys. Just back there chillin.
That's Bob Patin.
Ron Wade I'm not familiar with him, but I can tell he's been around the block for sure. Totally unfazed by whats going on. I'm sure he could do this in his sleep. Those are the guys I like to listen to. I'll have to look him up.
nokie has no complaints !!!!!!!!!!!!
Excellent choice to making these instrumental renditions! Loved the Surf Rock vibe in Secret Agent Man.Great job Joe! Great video! Volume swells, oh yeah!, Very reminiscent of of Roy Buchanan, would love to hear Joe cover Roy
One the first Ventures tunes I learned and not Walk Don't Run like most guitarist but then I do live in England
Graham Potter American here, grew up loving The Ventures. Only discovered The Shadows three years ago via YT and, damn(!) Hank B. Marvin and his Maezzi(sp?) Echo had THE tone, and his laying was solid. That was one strong unit. Don't know how I missed them all those years.
So Gifted!! We are looking forward to seeing JB in March ☺️
Joe knows every trick in the guitar book and plays them all so well. Thank you for posting
Muito massa!!!!
The always sensational Joe Bonamassa!
Seeing Joe Nov 13th in Louisville KY. Can't wait.
Two great, fun melodies from earlier years, that still sound sweet.
Surf’s up, Joe! KILLER set!
Joe rocks!
What a great relaxed jamming. Fantastic Joe, love ❤️ it ! And I love your house of the rising sun, you are the greatest, and I am sure you could sing the lyrics greatly too:-)
Nookie. Surf Rider. Nuff said. Great post. Relly enjoyed. THX
Oh Man!
That was good.
So good.
Hell yea!
Get that guitar off the wall more often Joe.
Bravo!
So damn cool !!!!-stay cool🤓
Great!
man reminded me of Roy Buchanan on the telacastor
There was some Roy in that attack at places, and Jeff in the knobs! At any rate it was pretty damned incredible!
JOE gets more out of a telly than other guitarist on the planet!!
Awesome
Wow..thanks MR Bon...d
I was hardly ever impressed by the tone of a Jazzmaster before this video.
I ALWAYS LOVED A JAZZ .. HAD ONE MANY MOONS AGO .. CANNOT BEAT THE SOUND .. JUST LISTEN TO THE AMPS AS WELL .. WHAT A SOUND ..
Jazzmaster Surf Guitar used by many Surf Guitar lead plays. Heavy on the wet reverb spank. Seth Lover designed pickups. Basically a modified P90. Joe really milks the tone out of that instrument. Great post. THX
It has a very... Erhm... Specific sound. I really can't make myself like them all that much except for novelty tones, such as this.
yea really!!
I know what you mean. This tune just called for it.
Great music ! ! ! I hoped Joe would start singing any minute !
Roy Buchanan's blood on this one
Great guitar player......
Wow, his Tele sounds great!
ALL Teles sound great! It's just a plain 'ol fact.
Not a tele. Jazz master
I know it's a Jazzmaster, Jerry. My comment on Teles is mutually exclusive of what guitar Joe B. is playing in this video. Mea culpa!
If Quentin ever makes Kill Bill 3 , this version of House of the Rising Sun definitely needs to be in it
Channeling his inner Buchanan.
HAPPY MARDI GRAS!
The Massa! 😎
First thing that came to my mind on "Secret Agent Man" was it's a Dick Dale surf music version or Los Straightjackets definitely twangy/jingly Fender sound.
"That is the "Best tone from Joe", I wish he would make a pure "Surf Guitar album"
Would love to hear Joe performing the german song „Am Fenster“ by City
When this song first came out when I was kid I thought Johnny Rivers was singing, "Secret Asian Man". Ah youth...........
That's funny! I was just singing the same words...just to be goofy!👍😎🎸🎶
@Ann Linley lol...awesome!☺
Ann, As a kid I had the Beatles Me Baumy low hoe ( Can't buy me love ) lol
My wife always made me laugh when she told the story about tooling around with her friends (stoned out, no doubt) singing "With the windows down!" when listening to the Stones, (When the Whip Comes Down". LOL
the 8:33 harmonica kind of lick is awesome.
Loved that one too! Rewound it to watch how he did it!👍😎🎸🎶
glass harp 1973 1st tv and radio concert , i never hear anything like it till now , thin air sir .
FUCKING AWESOME
WWWWWWOWWEEEEE!!!!
Well..ehh.....timeless music by timeless musicians!
🔥
wow, that was my favorite showing from JB, he sounded like Roy Buchanan but better!
FanFUCKING TASTIC!
I've heard this somewhere before. This guy can copy anything!
Joe is great but would have loved to see Kerry solo a bit .... he is amazing as well.
He hit all the right notes but as for the sound it was in a nutshell fucked, no bottom end no nothing just Joe, Bravo for joe!
Does Joe ever miss a lick? I've never personally witnessed it. Also: It says at the beginning "A tribute to Nokie Edwards". Is that Nokie Edwards (of Ventures fame) playing with him?
Never mind. Got my answer. Died: March 12, 2018 (aged 82); Yuma, AZ. RIP, Nokie.
lordy, how many JB videos have I seen? regardless, this is near the top, that includes his fancy dVD's, too....
👍
