Spotlighting Minority Housing Developers: BDT Housing Services

For over 50 years, the Housing Assistance Council (HAC) has supported minority-led housing developers as they work to solve their communities’ greatest housing challenges. At the 2023 National Rural Housing Conference, we sat down with six of our local partners to learn more about how our lending and capacity building has impacted their work.
The mission of BDT Housing Services is to provide decent, safe affordable and well-managed housing to people from all walks of life. In 2008, BDT began their housing work by designing and building Energy Star homes. Today, BDT continues to construct and rehabilitate housing and community projects in some of the poorest communities in the nation. Additionally, BDT is a housing counseling organization and provides HUD-approved financial literacy training. BDT’s Rural Outreach Program has provided housing counseling to over 160 families across.
