This is the video that should be shown to first year French students in the US. He is speaking French with the sophistication of a 3rd grader, at most and it is perfectly understandable and relatable. Having studied French at 3 different American schools, then marrying a man whose first language is French, and finally homeschooling my own three children, I have a pretty good idea of how we learn. What a complete and utter waste of time US classrooms are for learning a foreign language. It's quite sad as it limits us from even trying to communicate with native speakers and leveling up. Me receiving a C in any class was considered below average and signaled me that I was not good at what I was trying to do. Under any of my teachers, from high school through college, I would have received a C or D if I'd turned in a performance such as Mick Jagger's just now. Yet I was able to understand completely what he was trying to say. Soooo frustrating to have experienced that. I am glad for those who have access to these new learning tools. Your encouragement and emphasis on body language are fantastic!

Aw thank you :) that's quite the compliment and it's much appreciated ! I agree, I really dislike our education system in general, it's so outdated. Thank you for the nice comment !!

This is a great idea for a video. Your analysis is excellent and very valuable, thank you. One suggestion. It would have been even better to have Jagger in large screen and you in small, except when you are making an extended point.

Oh cool! If I do that I run into copyright issues and the video might be blocked in some countries :(

There are other clips, from years ago, where he speaks much more fluently than this. I think his French is rusty and with a couple of weeks of immersion he could regain his former level.Use it or (partially) lose it

"Je suis un Rockstar. J'habite en South of France. Ooh la la!"
My French knowledge is minimal, but of course I heard a few names like Elton and McCartney. I didn't catch any of the other band members other than Bill Wyman, hence the above. It's odd that the French interviewer used the full name every time, when an anglophone interviewer would have shortened the name.
