In Canada I've never heard the word "prehension" use in English. Haven't even seen it in writing. Apprehension often means "fear" so I think your suggestion in the comments of "comprehend" is better. Thanks for the tips about ordering and paying in a cafe. Lots to learn.
Old British school French text books used the word ‘ Garçon’. But it was many years, decades ago. No longer, thank goodness. There are many inaccuracies in school text books or at least there were. Hopefully things have improved . 😊
Great explanation
Thank you !

When j first learned French in school 50 years ago, I was taught to call a waiter “garçon” and always felt uncomfortable about it.
Bonjour. Je voudrais prendre un café boire, des œufs frites avec du bacon avec du pain grillé, jus d'orange et un verre d'eau, s'il vous plaît...
Just FYI, hardly anybody knows prehension means. Maybe relate it to "apprehend" instead?
Hi Peter, yes, and also to comprehend !
