I am relieved that your midwife realized that your baby's life was in danger and a c-section was necessary. A end of the day, a healthy momma and a healthy baby is all that matters. Your baby is beautiful and congrats 💙

My dearest friend lost her baby girl at 38 weeks due to a cord prolapse. It caused the cord to be compressed, and all of the blood flow to the baby was cut off. Her baby was absolutely beautiful. She would have been born a healthy baby girl if that hadn't happened. She became an angel back in 1993. She was to be my God daughter. We will meet her on the other side one day. She would have been 30 years old now and turning 31 in July. It still hurts. The mental trauma and heartache my friend experienced as a result was horrific.
God bless little Leo. It is a miracle he survived. Congratulations to you and your family. You are truly blessed. ❤

I had this happen. Exact same thing. I blame myself because I did the stretch and sweeps and tried everything to not go overdue. When we do these things it stresses out our babies and us. Patience is my motto now. Absolutely right decision and only one to get baby out via emergency ceaser. Too many babies in morge from cord around neck.

Cord prolapse is completely different from a cord around the neck (a quarter of all babies are born with cords around the neck. It's normal but often gets the blame for unexplained deaths or medical malpractice). Cord prolapse is very rare, very serious. It's one of the rare true, clear emergencies.

Brought back memories of my traumatic roller coaster of a birth story with my first born. My baby girl was born and had the cord wrapped twice around her neck. She was blue when she was born and didn't cry but gurgled and couldn't catch her breath, she had sucked in meconium as well. She was whisked away and tended to all day and put in an oxygen tent then transferred to the nicu so I couldn't hold her until the next day. I do believe it's a miracle she survived. So thankful little Leo was born safely. So happy for you all, Congrats!!!

Happy Ending!, thank goodness for all of you! My daughters last baby had a knot in her umbilical cord. They didnt know until she was born! Apparently, that happens when they're super super tiny still and very acrobatic. And she did a loopy-loop and make the knot! So her entire pregnancy it was unknowingly like that. Another planned C-section and all was well. At least she was small. That helped. Congratulations on baby Leo. He's perfect.✨🙏

Rebecca, first, congratulations!!! So wonderful that your baby is here and healthy. He looks just beautiful. Wow, I am so, so that happened to you. It sounds deeply terrifying, stressful, and so disappointing not to have the vaginal birth you were so hoping and preparing for. Take the time and space you need to mourn that. May your baby bring you peace and joy. Wishing you and your household as much rest and peace as possible and many happy baby snuggles ahead! ♥️

💙So happy for you and your family the baby arrived healthy. I’m sorry you ended up with a c-section after enduring the pain of labor. I had 3 of them. One emergency and 2 scheduled. The worst part for me was not having that immediate skin to skin and breastfeeding and then having to wait even longer because of meconium. What was the most upsetting part for you that you weren’t able to do a VBAC? I’m sorry you couldn’t have the experience you so wanted. I found the business of having babies to be so unpredictable in every case! And I always look at those whose birth plans go exactly the way they planned and think 💭 Are you kidding me?? 💭 BTW, you two trying to get the story straight made me laugh! It all becomes such a blur after a few nights of not sleeping and all the emotions and pain and such of a birth! Congrats again on little Leo 💙

A cord prolapse was always my biggest biggest fear going into all my births. It’s a life or death situation for baby and whenever you go into labour, you just don’t know where that cord is.. ultrasounds don’t show it. Sure it’s rare but it absolutely happens and it’s one of those things that is completely out of your control - nothing you can do in pregnancy or whilst in labour can prevent it or move the cord or whatnot.. you’re at the total mercy of happenstance and the result of it is usually traumatic and sometimes even lethal. I am SO so so terribly sorry you didn’t even get to TOLAC because of this, let alone have your VBAC. My heart breaks for you as I know how disappointing this is, and healing from a Cesar with so many small kids must be the hardest thing ever. But on the plus side, I am SO so so thankful your waters hadn’t broken and your midwives caught it early. Most all prolapse birth stories I’ve heard were of moms noticing baby’s heart rate plummet dramatically and mom is flown down the hall for an emergency Cesar with a midwife’s hand all the way up her bits to keep baby’s head off the cord. So while this experience was very likely traumatic in its own way with you, I’m so thankful you didn’t have to experience learning this post-water breakage. Small mercies! Your baby is perfection, congratulations on your small (huge!) blessing! ❤️❤️❤️

Just remember the important thing is you had a live baby that is the best outcome it doesn’t really matter how the baby comes out I know you would like to do a vaginal birth but you shouldn’t feel bad you got a healthy baby

Isn't it funny how everything goes so hazy after? It's hard for me to remember much of any details whilst in the hospital with all of my babies.
I also ended up with an emergency C-section with my firstborn after spending hours in labor. Her cord ended up being wrapped around her neck twice so each time I'd have a contraction, her heartbeat slowed. Thankfully they were vigilant and rushed me to the OR right away.
My 2nd born was vbac and the 3rd was a scheduled c-section.
Your baby boy is just perfection! ❤

Babies know how to worry, don’t they 🫤 my first born had her cord round her neck too. My fourth baby was an emergency C-section as his heart rate started dropping during each contraction.
Some things I remember so vividly other things are quite hazy, yes.
Thank you very much he is rather cute, almost 5 months old now 💙

I didn't find your birth story boring in the slightest. I really dislike it when men undermine women, especially on such an important video to you. You went through so much, I'm so sorry it turned out with an emergency c-section. My fifth did too, and I'd planned a home birth, like I'd had with my fourth. So one extreme to the other. I understand just how scary it is. I was so distressed too, so sending you hugs 🫂🫂
Leo is beautiful, he really is adorable 💙 Huge congratulations again and well done Mummy 👏 ❤

Strange to diagnose a cord prolapse before your water breaks. Did they feel the cord? did they ultrasound? Why would the cord get cold when it’s inside your body? Even if water broke it’s not like the cord is going to come spiraling outside of you suddenly. I understand being cautious but to make you feel like you had no choice like it was an emergency when it really was elective precautionary c section is not right. That’s disempowering to have birth decisions feel made for you. The cord could have slipped off to the side when baby’s head started coming down, the assumptions and scaring you that if you don’t you’ll loose the baby is infuriating. Did they know 100% that your water even would break? Mine didn’t! Did they know 100% for certain that the cord would prolapse? How could they when they didn’t let you even try. Ugh. I love that you are so well managed emotionally with it and I love little baby boy though.

I give the birth story a 9/10 only because you didn't record it. But I forgive you. Also have you heard of a game called the impossible quiz? You should do a video about it someday. Try to beat the impossible quiz if you can(on camera).
