  • Two couples' paths towards parenthood thanks to embryo donation.
Emma and Richard Austin endured 10 years of gruelling fertility treatments in their unsuccessful quest for a baby.
Two months after making the difficult decision to stop IVF, the offer of a lifetime arrived when a mutual friend introduced them to a Brisbane couple.
Jessica and JP DiZane’s family was complete and they had leftover embryos that they didn’t want to destroy.
After a series of heartfelt and challenging discussions between the couples, an altruistic donation led to Emma and Richard becoming the parents of baby Henry.
One year later, the couples come together to discuss how a surprise gift helped to solve everyone’s problems.

My daughter and her husband had an abundance of embryos when they went through 2 successful invitro pregnancies. They donated their unused embryos to two different couples they never met. Our family was notified when two sets of twins were born: one set in Colorado and one set in Florida. We have never seen these children who are 13 years old now. I would love to meet them some day. I hope they are loved.

The choice to give that child ( embryo) a life instead of being “ disposable “ is so heroic. A beautiful baby boy was born into two loving families. Absolutely amazing.
The morality of giving life is something we don’t even need to grapple with. The opposite is where the morality comes in. Give the gift of life will always be right.
Kudos to these people, love to see more of these decisions being made.😊 Happy Birthday Henry

No .. us adopted kids how , well off people profit off of poverty and most bio , say they would have kept the baby if they could provide for it
Adoptive parents rob our birth certificate and seal it away and rob us of everything and celebrate their victory and our bio families trauma and rob us of what little we have
Embro isn't an infant and they grow it in their own uterus until it's a baby and it is there baby and the baby isn't feeling that you profit off off poverty and desperation and others trauma ..
It's very very different.. this is a celebration
They are not profiting off a bio family.. they are literally given an embro to create an infant and it's actually beautiful and a gift..

I do have a 24 yr old son then my child Brandon that’s 20 that I placed for adoption due to my being a single mother of 1 already so young and I also have a 15 yr old daughter I’m currently raising. My situation is tough the parents I placed him with never gave him my 17 page letter, broke our mutual agreement to send me a letter and pic every year. So according to his girlfriend she said he believes he was unwanted which isn’t true😢 my advice would be please reach out to your bio parents and siblings just go into it opened minded. I never wanted to be a mom, I knew that from about 16 years old and now in 34. When I was 26, I met the man of my dreams. He was previously married and had a son who was 6. I knew right away we loved eachother and he told me if I was serious about him then he wanted me to meet his son and the rest of his family. So I said yes knowing if we got married then I would end up becoming a step-mom. Now I feel deep love for my step son and the truth is I am so grateful for the opportunity to be in his life. You don't have to be a biological mom or dad, just share your love and it all works out. I ended up getting the best of both worlds, I get to love a child deeply and still be true to my plans for not having any biological children.

Also, while I like to think I'd be willing to donate embryos as this couple did, I certainly wouldn't donate them to "random" strangers. Even women who place their children for adoption often go through a laborious selection process, deciding who would be "good parents" to their kids. That's certainly a tricky one, as I'm not sure it's obvious what qualities make someone a "good" or "bad" parent.

No, it isn't but have you read comments from young teenagers telling a poor scared teen mom that she has to KEEP her baby, that it would be WRONG of her to place it with adoptive parents? WOW....there are some ridiculous young people out there. What RIGHT do they have to tell a perfect STRANGER that she is an awful person to give her baby a great life that she is ill equipped to do at the time she gave the child for adoption? Almost everyone of those babies born on these "Teen mom" shows now, should have been placed for adoption.....McKayla Adkins needs to kids like she needs another hole in her head. Farrah Abraham should have given Sofia up for adoption as well. I think Emiley Novack should have done the same thing, Chloe' Mendozza, and all the girls on second 3 as well. Sure, Emiley & Chloe have been great teen moms, but they are going to be "tied" to those guys that fathered those children for a long time to come.
It's really sad to see those teen mom shows knowing full well the heartache those young moms are going through just because society has decided it's better for them to keep their babies rather than place them with someone that is mature and financially stable to give the child what it needs. BTW....I'm not saying all teen moms are terrible, there are some great young moms that have babies young. However, I think TLC looks for the young teen moms at the bottom of the barrel.

You can't have too many good people loving a child. This is a really special story. I was never able to carry a baby full term so I never got pregnant and instead became a teacher and foster mum. I didn't have a period for 25 years due to illness. I was told that I had a massive amount of eggs that were healthy just sitting there. At that point I was 39 and so I looked into donating my eggs but because I was nearly 40 I was turned down. I will always feel guilty that I couldn't give my eggs to many families because I was too old. I had been growing and donating my hair to a charity that partnered with a wig making company who supplies the other materials and time to make wigs for children with cancer or alopecia. I've lived for 11 more years than my team of specialists gave me. I'm ready to die and have made sure that my body is going to be used to study my combination of illnesses. The only other thing I can give now is time to listen to other peoples problems or making a connection with a complete stranger when I can get out of the house. I wish I could give more to the world.
