yeah, the 1350RP skins were definitely the sign, not the fact that it's a free to play game and the microtransactions give you no advantage. It's definitely the 1350RP skins. Honestly, riot should have never given you people the free skins from the crafting tool. Before that, people knew that skins are just a cosmetic which costs money, so you either choose to buy a skin and throw away the money or you just play the game. Now everyone thinks they are entitled to own every skin in the game for some reason LMAO
After the Jhin chroma sold well and they decided to release the Ekko one, everyone should know it was already over. If there are enough whales for Riot to find success with a $200 Chroma, there are absolutely enough of them to make a $500 skin turn profit. Also, this will absolutely not be the last of it, regardless of what people do. Riot has proven time and time again that they don't care about bad word to mouth as long as they make their money, so expect more and $500 skins, maybe even $1000 skins soon.
Let's break the banrate record
That's definitely gonna be a challenge. Kassadin has been on that throne, uncontested for a decade now.
kassadin once had an above 80% ban rate. we ain't breaking that record

Skins aren’t even worth it for 1 dollar if we’re being completely honest. Like imagine spending 15 bucks on a skin instead of like Subnautica or something. It’s ridiculous how much value people put on esthetics.

My favorite part was when my team forgot to ban Ahri in Champ Select and the enemy picked it and used the skin. He got completely destroyed in mid since the ganks kept on coming from every direction. He ended the game with a 0/7 record and was muted for raging. We also won the game as a cherry on top.

Got into a game without banning her and the enemy had the skin, and our top would stop moving from time to time. Eventually they posted the Ahri players' irl adress in all chat. They doxxed the Ahri for having the skin, and I have mixed feelings about that.

The problem though is if you look at the ban rate increase by rank, it’s literally only noticeable in gold and below. Emerald+ ranks haven’t seen much of a change at all

i've seen several ppl with the skin alrdy. the ban wont stop riot from making money from the skin, so it is literally useless. banning the champ doesnt stop ppl from buying her.

How is it working? It's hardly doing anything.
There is a Bug in ARAM Custom Blind (dont know about other Blind pick modes) which lets you pick multiple off the same champ. All you have to do is start hovering the same champ as someone else when the timer displays a number that ends in 0 or 5.
Doing your part is to stop playing guys, banrate is about sending a message but stopping playing is going for the throat
Yeee.... sadly i think korean server is the most important cause its where riot makes most of their money and where the skin has its home market so its where they were expecting it to sell the most
nope china is always the one that makes to most for a company. Look at gacha games. China spends more than the whole world together in games like genshin honkai and many more.

Unfortunately, there is precedent for Korea being full of whales. Plenty of KR players have played Maplestory before, $500 skins on LoL is nothing to them.

So.. what exactly is working? I would consider it working IF riot did or responded in some way. All I see is.. not even a 30% ban rate, and it’s been countless times there were higher banrates for champions
They keep responding actually, although their responses are not very satisfactory.
Having her ban rates way above average certainly brings more attention to the topic.
Of course it's not working.
Higher banrates for a champ are a signal, yes but ultimately players will go back to banning the champs they don't want to play against, especially if there is no reaction from Riot. The only signal Riot would react to is if the skin sells poorly which, I think we all know, is not going to happen.

15% ban rate is nothing. That mean they still get to used it in 85% of their game
we can't use for now... this won't do shit, sonner or latter the ban rate will drop and I will play with my 250dls skin, as right now I don't mind the ban rate since the pass has different objetives so if I want to complete the pass on time I can't play ahri mid all the time, I have to swith to support, jg, bruiser, or split pusher... so sooner or latter I will use my skin.

It's not working because the people buying Ahri skin are coming from the east side, China, Japan, Korea. If those country ban rate goes up then maybe there's a chance.

What I like the most about this video is that you say it's an increase of 10 percentage points instead of saying its an increase of 10 percent (when it's an increase of about 50%).
It's rare to see percent and percentage point being used correctly

The majority are of the consensus that Immortalized Ahri is overpriced. But only a minority are activists attempting to impact Riot. Even if it's futile, doesn't mean I won't join the movement.
Except it did hurt riot. Imagine all the funds and efforts that went into the development of “hall of fame” and the skin itself. The initial brainstorming, advertisement and other videography production, illustrations, modeling, and the full fabrication of faker temple in korea - you have zero clue of how much all of that would cost. Yes, they’re going to break even eventually (it is going to take a loooooong time, trust me), but even not being able to reach the expected sales figures is generally considered a loss on a business perspective.

a few seasons later riot introduced mythic skins a more grindier version of the ulti skin
