For me, while I always liked Bowser vs Eggman as a matchup, I was at the same time soured by it to an extent. Kinda like you where it had to do with the Mario vs Sonic debate, but for me it wasn't that as much as it always being used a jumping off point to get into discourse over Mario vs Sonic matchups in general, where people would constantly whine about how people were "burnt out over Mario vs Sonic matchups" (which never made any sense to me since the last one was well over six years ago and both series have fought other characters on multiple occasions, plus nobody really wanted to see any other MvS mu other than BowsEgg). And the fact that this came from simply name dropping BowsEgg- not even talking about it, just acknowledging that it exists, made me fall off of the idea because those people were more obnoxious to me than any Mario vs Sonic vs debate ever did and [likely] ever will, and it was impossible for me to disassociate the mu outside of that discourse. Then come the episode's waiting period and, to my surprise, virtually none of that controversy- or any debate related arguments, for that matter- flooded my timeline. Nearly the entire waiting period exclusively consisted of people making memes celebrating the mu; gushing over how interesting and fun the debate can be when you look past the constant fighting; facetiously saying "lmao dafuq Bowser/Eggman gonna do against ____". It all felt like a friendly rivalry and an excuse to look at some genuinely impressive fanart. Reminder: for a Mario vs Sonic matchup. Then the episode aired and, while there was some salt shed from a handful of Sonic bros, it was vastly overshadowed by the Sonic fans focusing on how great the episode was. Again. A MARIO VS SONIC MATCHUP. This shit was a Herculean feat I never would've dreamt of seeing anyone- let alone Death Battle- pull off. Even other god tier animations like Ryu vs Jin, Trunks vs Silver, and Dio vs Alucard weren't anywhere near this successful at doing that shit. Again. MARIO VS SONIC MATCHUP!!!
I interpreted the lyrics differently. Bowser was calling Eggman's shell fragile, cuz he's egg themed and has machines that he can just rip apart effortlessly.

Also, Among Us vs Fall Guys could be seen as a dessert or something in a way, not anything special or too special, But at least as a small thing to complete our satisfaction after consuming the full course dish that was indeed the episode Eggser.
