I'm sure someone has already commented about this, but Taylor makes it a point to really build up her dancers. I appreciated your comment, so I wanted to mention it. She introduces them all by name, and a lot of Swifties follow them on social to support them. It's a really nice way to continue building a positive community with everyone who is dedicated to putting on an in credible show and those who appreciate all that they do.

This is her Reputation Tour. The whole album Reputation deals with pretty much responding to all the comments and haters out there. This is the first album that she really just did exactly what she wanted to without worrying about what people said about her. Also she has backup singers at the concerts. If you watch more video from the concert you will see them. At every concert she brings attention to her singers, dancers and her band.

I commented on your Fortnight reaction that I'm a 68 year old rock/blues guy. I decided to explore Swift through reaction videos looking for "out of genre reactors" like you. Mostly metal heads, rap fans and sometimes vocal coaches. For music video reactions I add proffessional video editors and visual effects artists. I had heard all the rhetoric on social media: she can't sing, she can't dance, all her songs sound the same, all she does is breakup songs, and all her fans are 12/13 year old girls. That's all complete bullshit (pardon my French). She can sing and dance, all her songs definitely don't sound the same, and they're not all breakup songs. I often respond to "can't dance" with "good thing she focused on being a singer/songwriter/musician then". Like you, I don't understand the blind hate. I tend to simply ignore those that I'm not a fan of and leave them to their fans. Life is too short to whine about artists you don't enjoy.
Something I've said many times is, The Beatles had a huge following of young girls. They were highly visible showing up everywhere screaming at airports, hotels, and concerts. They weren't the Beatles entire fanbase though. Also The Beatles didn't write a song that wasn't about love (wanting it, being in it, or losing it) until their fifth album. You never hear John, Paul or George's names brought up among the greatest male vocalists, nor are their names mentioned among all time great guitarists. Yet somehow they were the biggest band in the world and have sold more albums than any other artist or band. How? They were good singers/musicians and great songwriters. Plus they weren't just one thing. It's an easy argument they even created music genres. I see Swift in the same light. Not the greatest female vocalist, but quite good. Not the greatest musician, but good. But she's a great songwriter, particularly lyrics, and she's not just one thing.

    • @MHSMagicLuver
      @MHSMagicLuver 5 дней назад +1

lol to the thing that all her fans are young girls.. I’ve been with her since debut and I’m 33 now. Shes like 1.5 years older than me. Which is perfect as I can usually relate because when she’s writing the songs is around the age that I am when it releases. Folklore and evermore are my least fav and I think it’s because those were the albums where she made up stories. Compared to her other albums that are about her life.

    • @randomcrap4230
      @randomcrap4230 10 часов назад

@@MHSMagicLuverI'm 40 and was almost exclusively a hard rock/goth girl who DESPISED country music until I randomly heard Taylor Swift's debut album in like early 2007. I was instantly hooked and fell in love with her music somehow. It made no sense to anyone who knew me, or to myself, but it was what it was. 17 years later, I seem to love every album more and more. She has aged like the finest wine and she continues perfectly describe my own experience with her beautifully crafted words each time. It has been SOOOOO fun as a "from the start" fan, getting to watch her literally grow up, how her perspectives change and grow with age, and how her craft continues to grow and evolve with that personal growth as well. It's like watching your "cute little sister" grow up and take over the world. 😂
Also for the record, I work in senior living and had several 85+ year old little white haired Swifties with walkers who were super jealous I got to go to the Eras Tour last year and made me bring them back some merch. 😂 Music has no age range or limits. If you connect with it, you connect with it. And that's what I love most about it. ❤

Fun fact she 1st learned guitar on a 12 string because thw shop guy said her handa were too small, but she's proven so many people wrong when it comes to her talent!
I do think youd benefit from listening to Taylor's albums as whole albums because her storytelling in the albums is amazing! Her albums are Taylor Swift, Fearless(Taylor's Version), Speak Now(Taylor's version), Red(Taylor's version)
1989(Taylor's version), reputation, Lover, folklore, evermore, midnights, and the tortured poets department.
Her folk albums are folklore and evermore (they are sister albums cause they released super close to each other), she has some albums with a mix of genres like speak now red and reputation
1989, Lover, midnights, the tortured poets department is pop but none of those albums sound exactly the same even being in the same genre.
But hers some single suggestions for the different albums i think you'd like
    1. My tears ricochet, and Mad woman (from folklore)
    2. Willow, tolerate it, and No body no crime(evermore)
    3. I knew you were trouble from red (id watch this one live)
    4. We are never ever ever getting back together (og is pop because her ex hated pop 😅) id recommend the music video AND the live version from 1989 tour specifically cause its a rock version 😍
    5. I did something bad, dont blame me, and look what you made me do from reputation (really her tours are all amazing you cant go wrong with her live ❤)
    6. From lover id recommend cruel summer, the archer, and ME!
    7. Midnights id recomment lavender haze, marroon, anti hero, midnight rain, vigilante shit, wouldve couldve shouldve (but listen to dear john from speak now before/with this song itll add some context)
Glitch, high infidelity and dear reader.
    8. Speak Now: Sparks Fly, Speak Now, dear john, the story of us, enchanted, Haunted (this one you gotta watch the speak now tour and listen to the studio version but this live performance is amazing)
    9. The Tortured Poets Department: i think youd like Florida!!!, The Smallest man who ever lived (this one you gotta listen to recorded and live like you did with whos afraid of lil old me?), the black dog, the albatross, how did it end?,I hate it here, cassandra and the prophecy
    10. For Fearless songs id recommend: Fearless, Jump then fall, the other side of the door, forever and always (this is a good one to watch live on the fearless tour) breathe and thats when
    11. For Taylor Swift(her debut album) id recommend picture to burn, a place in this world, cold as you, tied together with a smile, should've said no(the best live of this is from the fearless tour its a longer performance but well worth it) invisible, our song, im only me when im with you, and crazier (this is written for the hannah montana movie and it has a very debut sound so i put it here)
Love the reactions, cant wait for more taylor swift ❤🫶

I even find some industrial influences in "Ready for it", not just hip-hop. I come from a Gothic/Rock/Metal background and what I really love about Taylor is her ability to paint pictures with her lyrics. She is a real poet. Her masterpiece so far in my opinion is "All too well". If you check it out, go with the lyric video of the 10 min version. She is amazing.

I’m always curious why people don’t like relationship songs. What should people write about? Politics? Religion? Money? One of the cool things about Taylor is that each album and tour builds off of the last one and expresses what’s happening in her life. She went from a super-poppy album that made her a global superstar (1989) to finding herself over-exposed and her reputation being trashed by the media and some ill-intentioned industry people. So she disappeared for a few years and then came back swinging with the Reputation album. There was no lead up, no media. Just her coming back with this harder, darker album and tour. Ready For It is the first song on the album and it begins with her clearing her throat. She was like…you guys hurt me and f-ed me up and here’s what I have to say. Yes the album is about a new relationship, but the over-arching theme is that it’s new and fragile, because SHE was feeling fragile and she knew the media and the fans were going to put them to the test given the huge amount of negative attention on her at the time. She was asking if he was ready for the relationship AND ready for tidal wave of attention it would bring to him.

Taylor was the sole writer and composer of over 65 of the songs on her albums. She even wrote and composed an entire album (“Speak Now”). The songs where she’s not the sole writer/composer, she usually has just 1 other writer credited and it’s her producer. She’s very talented. And yes she plays piano as well as guitar. Plays both live every night on tour acoustically.

Reputation is my favorite album, the fan favorites are "I Did Something Bad", and "Don't Blame Me". She did 2 folk-style albums, folklore and then evermore, they are called sister albums, and she dropped them 5 months apart. There is a teenage love triangle Betty, Cardigan, and August on folklore, so if you do one, you will get asked to do them all. I recommend from her album "folklore" the song Exile featuring Bon Iver (Justin Vernon). One of Taylor's edgier performances is a rock version of her pop song "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, she is in black leather and plays electric guitar, this is the song that made Swifties want a rock album from Taylor, she is fierce in her approach with this rock version from her 1989 tour. The MV End Game is where she learned some dance moves for, the MV features Future and Ed Sheeran (he raps), but she learned from a choreographer. Taylor plays 12-string, acoustic, electric guitar, banjo, ukulele and piano, I suspect she might play some other instruments, possibly drums, and violin.

Taylor Swift is a brilliant lyrist storytelling who uses metaphors and is a brilliant performer. TS has some stage background experience early in life, wrote her first song at 12, plays four instruments proficiently, is a prolific songwriter who create three genres to write songs. The instruments? Guitar including 12 string, piano, banjo and ukulele. She crosses several genres and believes artists shouldn't have to stay one genre. Her music can be deeply emotional and relatable.TS songs are emotionally brave, honest and sometimes highly metaphorical. Adding in, Taylors grandmother was an Opera singer, she was named after James Taylor and she shares an ancestral grandparent (common not direct) with a famous female poet. Taylors lyrics are written from a woman's perspective and deep dive into emotional waters. No other songs hit as deeply as Taylors when she chooses to go there. Her songs have made my eyes water and I don't cry easily. Taylor Swift is a legend and musical treasure.

Aaron Desner and jack Antinoff are her producers and friends and are wonderful musicians. Aaron layers some beautiful fingerstyle guitar in songs like folklores opening track "the one". Perhaps, THE pop star.

Carolina, Ivy, and Dress are a few of my favorite songs. Also, the entire Tortured Poets Department / Anthology, although it is lore heavy for someone unfamiliar with her previous work. I wasn't a huge fan of the young country Taylor, but she really has grown as an artist. I think she is amazing. I appreciate that you are taking the time to listen to the music and appreciate her lyrics. Best wishes!

Love your reaction videos! On the folk side - the Long Pond Studio videos for Exile and My Tears Ricochet. Exile features Bon Iver. Both are incredible. Also - I love that you mentioned the dancers. Many of the Reputation dancers were with her during her 1989 tour. Taylor and her dancers have great chemistry.

I think you will really love her catalog if only for her lyricism and artistry. I love your open mind about it. I was the same way…a rap and metal fan, until my daughter became a Swiftie, and it forced me to look deeper. I’m in now. 🤷‍♀️😍😎

  • @lka9900

She’s said before in interviews she can usually see what it will probably look like on stage (or at least have a general idea) so I think it was intentionally produced to be that cinematic and big bc she already knew it would be the show opener.
She was teased publicly a lot bc everyone kept saying she was awkward and couldn’t dance so she was like, fine watch me learn. Watching the Rep tour film and then the Eras, it’s mind bending how much she’s improved and worked at it.
The folk albums are her pandemic duo: ‘folklore’ and ‘evermore’, collecting referred to as ‘folkmore’ or the sister albums.
They’re loaded with her best writing (other than maybe TTPD). One or both are probably in every swiftie’s top 3 TS albums. COMPLETELY different energy than the Rep album.

I like lots of Taylor Swift songs because of the lycrics... I love "Don't Blame Me", "This is why we can't have nice things", "Vigilant S****", "Champagne problems", "The man", "My boy only breaks his favorite toys"... if you could do these songs, you should google the lyrics because they have layers. I LOVE ❤ REPUTATION era because she wrote songs calling out bullys/liars that almost made hwr loose everything.

One of my fav fun facts, she ran and SANG the entire show (3.5h!) on a treadmill, EVERY day for six months prior to the tour. DANG, right?!

Taylor is totally open about her not being a "dancer", but she works hard to do what she can. She'll never have those dance moves other artists have, but she doesn't need them. She's able to entertain without them. Her performances are always really good and captivating. She's a great entertainer. Taylor loves her dancers and they love her.
Taylor's music is very varied. She loves music. Loves creating music. Loves playing with music and trying new things. Her music has evolved over time.

You should listen to “my tears ricochet” on her folklore album, but you have to know a little about the backstory..there’s a lot, but its about her old label manager (she was the first artist on his label, she was with him since she was 12 or 13 i think) selling the masters to her albums to the one person she didn’t want them to go to. And then that’s what got her onto her re-recording journey. It’s one of her best lyrically imo and hits deep.

Hey there! Love that youre continuing to check out Taylor! Id love for you to check out the "teenage love triangle" from folklore, which are a trio of songs that tell the same story from each person's perspective -- a teenage boy, the girl he spent the summer with, and the girl he ultimately returns to (Cardigan, August, and Betty are the titles). She weaves them together beautifully and has moments where lines in one song are also in another, at the same timestamp. Truly a masterclass in storytelling!!!
One of my fav things about Taylor is that she really leans into changing the song production for each tour so it fits the vibe -- the exception is on the Eras Tour, where she keeps them close to their original format for the most part. And the ad lib vocals are always more dramatic on the live performances, almost like she's saving the really special high note for tour. Don't Blame Me (rep tour) is an EXCELLENT example of this, the live performance scoops a little higher and she holds the note much longer

Her backing vocalists are so good (they're called "The Starlights") and most of them have been singing live with Taylor for a decade or more. Later in this live show, Taylor introduces them by name as well as a bunch of the dancers. She always takes great care of her team.
Taylor's catalog is extremely varied. This album in particular was like NOTHING she had ever done before, and for good reason. This was a HUGE comeback for her after she was cancelled by the Internet after the Kanye/Kim phone call scandal. Nobody expected this, to the point that this phenomenal album was entirely snubbed at that year's Grammys.
Taylor was often ridiculed for her poor dancing skills, and while she's still a bit awkward sometimes, she's definitely much improved in that regard.
I really really like your thoughtful, intelligent, open-minded vibe!

Its very nice to see you are so openminded about different kinds of music. A lot of people just hate on Taylor Swift without even knowing her music. I have always kinda avoided her music since im 50y old and i thought i could not relate to it. But then i heard her song "all too well" the 10 minute version and i was instantly hooked. So if you ever have the time it would be great if you reacted to that one. You wont regret it. Greetings from Belgium! Have a great day!

Taylor puts so much in her songwriting and her live performances! You should check out We are never getting back together (it was a huge bubbly pop single, but it is possible you haven’t heard it given your music background) and then check out the live performance from the 1989 tour! It’s imperative that you do this specific live performance (you just need to listen to the radio version to understand the huuuge difference)
Love your reactions to Taylor so far btw, just subscribed 😊
Edit: Taylor really makes a point to mention the dancers, backup singers, band, cleaning crew etc every single time! On this tour, she introduced her backup singers and dancers by name, and she mentioned she had 368 people on her crew and around 3200 people on security, cleaning etc in almost every stadium and she thanked them on stage every night! Idk about you, but idk any other artists that know they have specifically 368 people with them or introduce their crew by name 😅

Thank you for going out of the regular box and opening up to hearing new music. You gave a lot of great points. It says a lot about your integrity as an artist that talent can recognize talent. That’s all we ask. It’s ok if it’s not your style, which is why there’s so many different genres. But I really do appreciate that you’re not bashing her because of that. Music is subjective but talent (usually) isn’t.
Thank you for this reaction. I’m a big fan! Well spoken and evaluated. Great job. Really enjoyed your commentary based on facts and not what the media says about her.

The things that impress me about TS are:
    Flex talent
    Variety in Music Style
    Her Beauty
    Her Intelligence
    Everything about her
    INCLUDING:
The amount of money she generates and donates to communities everywhere she holds concerts as well as the amount of money she pays out in bonuses to her workers (her truck drivers got $50,000 last concert!) AND she donates tens of thousands of dollars to food banks in each community she holds concerts.
Her generosity is unmatched! Literally everyone who interacts with her profits in some way.

you mentioned that you were interested in a folk album!!! that would be her eighth album folklore. it’s more folk-pop than true folk i’d say, but it’s definitely got some incredible tracks! i think if you wanted to react to anything from that album the most folky song would be either betty or the last great american dynasty! but i find that most people most enjoy august or the 1!

The Last Great American Dynasty, My Tears Ricochet (arguably), Seven, and Epiphany are non (romantic) relationship songs from Folklore, the first of her two folk albums. I think My Tears Ricochet would be the one you'd enjoy the most out of those. Honorable mention for Mad Woman, as well, because the lyrics are kind of "metal."
No Body No Crime and Marjorie are non-relationship songs from Evermore, the second of her folk albums.

If you decide to listen to some of her folk stuff, I recommend the song “Seven” from the album Folklore, and the song “Willow” from the album Evermore. She releases these two albums almost back to back as continuations of each other in terms of the folky sound. She also took a different approach to writing these albums with more of a focus on made up characters rather than her own experiences.

Anyone who loves music (whatever the genre), appreciates the hard work that the artist puts into it! As a music lover, I have a very eclectic taste: Kate Bush, Pink Floyd, Iron Maiden, classic music, some country, Taylor Swift, etc.
It's about the performance and the talent....any idiot can hold a microphone and think they're the bee's knees! But it's the act and the communication with the audience.

I only got into Taylor Swift a year or two ago, I grew up with everyone saying mean things like the reporters did in the intro. I only ever heard bad things about her and if you liked her at school, you usually got bullied (note, I never bullied anyone although I was anti-pop anything after getting sucked into the emo and punk scene). Honestly, I wish I'd got my head out my own ass and listened to her sooner. My life is so much better now I let myself listen to whatever I want to and explore different genres. I went from never listening to her to her being one of my top artists.
