      Thanks. You’re the only one who demonstrates how to put the stoppers on. I know it’s easy but growing up with a hard working single mom. I had to teach myself most of the things people assume everyone knows. Deeply appreciated your video.

    Outstanding!! I’m preparing to install a barn door in an existing doorway. It currently has wood trim around the door to compliment the existing door. Will I need to remove the trim work, or will the barn door have spacing to accommodate the trim? Thanks so much for sharing!!

    • @TammysHomeTips

    First, great video. I had to build my door, to cover a 54 inch arch way. My door is identical to yours. I used tongue and groove siding and 1.5 inch screws that looked like #4 finishing nails. And, plenty of glue for the T&G. I used Reliabilt hardware. The hardware was good, but the graphics left a lot to be desired. So much so, I had to go to RUclips. My door is pretty heavy, so I may have to cut it in half. The cost was about the same if I had bought the door, but I wanted to build it. $150 for the wood, $90 for the hardware, $40 for stain, glue and screws. Using plywood would have been faster and cheaper.

      Hello there! Here is what I used. Paneled Wood Unfinished Barn Door without Installation Hardware Kit on Wayfair. I simply did not use the decorative angled wood piece as I’m not really into that look. You will also have to buy the hardware separately. I used Sliding Classic Design Standard Single Barn Door Hardware Kit, also on Wayfair. I had to stain and sand the door myself. Wish I had done a video on that 😕

    Great job! I have a 36 inch opening for a bathroom. With the experience you now have would you suggest a 40 or 42 inch door width?

    • @TammysHomeTips
      @TammysHomeTips  Год назад +1

      Thank you ☺️ I would say the 40” door with the 2” on each side is enough but you can definitely do the 42” door as well. Really depends on how much wall space you have, the location and your personal preference. If you aren’t sure, you can use a thumbtack to hang a string down on each side of the door opening to give you a visual of your preferred size (2 vs 3 inch overlap on each side). Much success to you on your project! 🙌🏼🙂

    • @woofwoof-w4g
      @woofwoof-w4g Год назад +2

      If you have molding around your opening it is nice to get a door wide enough to cover it if you don't want it showing. I added my molding into my door width decision because mine would look weird if it showed.

    Did you add a rail at bottom with stop ? If so wont you trip on rail ? Thanks

    • @TammysHomeTips
      @TammysHomeTips  2 года назад +1

      Thank you for your question. There is a small piece that you attach to the floor to keep it on track. However it is on the right bottom side of the door and is always covered by the door whether it is open or closed so it is never a trip hazard. The stops on the overhead railing prevents it from opening or closing too much. Hope this answers your question. 🙂

    • @TammysHomeTips

    You're hanging it into the studs because the drywall will not hold a heavy door. The anchors are for naught. They won't help. The door would fall.
