This is SO true, but now I'm thinking about it too much. I think that the reason this strikes me as so accurate is that envy is pretty much the defining issue of middle children. They feel underappreciated and constantly overlooked, and they crave attention and recognition. The ways they respond to that are either A. shut down and stop trying, or B. become as annoying as possible. Envy went for option B. The desperation in this character really is palpable.

I do wonder if Lust can stretch out more of her body and not just her fingers. Like arms, legs, neck and toes. She wouldn’t do the lust job as well, but a lot of Homunculi have attributes in common. So if I were to guess that is Lust’s way of going full Envy. Ling has low metabolism if I recall. He eats through his energy really fast in any given day and collapses easily. It’s no act he does that. Though he takes advantage of it for his benefit. And May Chang and her Panda backstory is both adorable and disheartening. Maybe a few people to teach her about the Alchehestry but I can’t think of anyone else implied for this clan. Which would explain her non-existent power. Compared to Ling’s clan we know there’s hundreds of members. But still not very big since he’s the 12TH son. Can’t wait for next episode. (Of course the Homunculi were kind of behind everything from the beginning of the nation as they mentioned this episode, but that's bigger than just Envy being the trigger).

Lings "condition" is an anime trope. The best characters are always stuffing their face. Some anime say the person expends more energy then normal so they collapse if they dont eat insane quantities of food. Think of the Flash in DC comics. Hes always eating to power up

It can be both, they aren't mutually exclusive. Ishval was under the domain of Amestris, so it was a civil war. It was also a genocide. If Ishval had been an enemy nation (like Creta to the west, Aerugo to the south, Xing to the far east, or Drachma to the north) then it wouldn't've been a civil war but still a genocide. also of course Amestris isn't gonna call it a genocide. That'd look/sound bad (because it is bad) and you want good optics in a situation like that.

@@KHloreExpert Not sure that's relevant. If you watch a show and a character uses he/him pronouns you don't go googling to verify if the original japanese dub uses those same pronouns lol Envy is "he" in this and it's weird to force "they" on him.

@@Weeby_historian PLS i need this to happen, i need their reactions after the first episode
I’ve heard theories about ling being hypoglycemic or something
A condition where u have a high metabolism and collapse alot due to excessive hunger
I think steins gate could be a good anime to follow up after you finish fmab.
Agreed!
100%
It would be such a good fit for them!
Agreed - two of the best dubs ever.
yep yep
I hate that it’s called the ishvalan “civil war” that was a genocide
It can be both, they aren't mutually exclusive. Ishval was under the domain of Amestris, so it was a civil war. It was also a genocide. If Ishval had been an enemy nation (like Creta to the west, Aerugo to the south, Xing to the far east, or Drachma to the north) then it wouldn't've been a civil war but still a genocide.
also of course Amestris isn't gonna call it a genocide. That'd look/sound bad (because it is bad) and you want good optics in a situation like that.
14:36 One thing about the eyes glowing here when the scene is all slightly grayed, the eye color of characters is a pretty cool bit of world building on Arakawa's part. As far as Ed and Al go on this list, it's more than just protagonist-looks-different-itis.
Amestrians like the Rockbells have blue eyes
Ishvalans like Scar have red eyes
Xingese like Ling have plain black eyes
This show always has more layers to add! Thanks for sharing! 😀
not ready for the feels at end of the next episode
This is one of the most intense episodes in the series, that last scene is peak anime.
I love how you never believe Ling when he collapses 😂. You always think that he's faking it lol
I love this episode💚 Envy is my fav character for sure, I am just simping for him the entire way❤
Saaame, except for the English voice actor 🤔 Kinda doesn't fit
@@lilshmet4167 wtf? She killed it, Wdym doesn’t fit ._.
hey I feel betrayed. This was on your playlist yesterday when I got off work, I thought I could watch 2 eps. But it was "scheduled for 12:00p tomorrow!"
you owe me like 15 minutes of struggling to find something to watch. i'll take 7 from both of you and 1 from the cat
Montana looks so much like the actress that plays Galadriel in the new Lord of the Rings show. I can't stop seeing it
This and the next episode are some of my favorites. Envy, despite how horrible they are, is one of my favorite characters in the series and i always love seeing people react to this reveal in particular.
Lol he is mic-ro managing every time he moves her mic ba dum tsss
Say fellas did someone mention the Door to Darkness?
Just started watching yall yeasterday and im hooked
Subbed imidietly
Also if you liked she rah you should watch The dragon Prince
It has amazing storyline Amazing animation and animation style and
A cute dragon baby 👀 but its very similare to she rah in some sense u should check it out
Imagine these two reacting to Hunter x Hunter. That would be the GREATEST thing ever
Whoa whoa whoa. Horrifying? Let's not forget a priest from Liore was seen in the last episode. That was enemy. So technically Ed gets to bathe in the blood of his enemies. It's a savage baptism.
Envy self identifies as male, so "he" is appropriate. Idk why Kenny keeps correcting himself with "they".
I'm not sure if Kenny and Montana are aware of this but Envy being referred to as male is exclusive to the dub. In Japanese Envy is never referred to by gender specific terms.
@@KHloreExpert Not sure that's relevant. If you watch a show and a character uses he/him pronouns you don't go googling to verify if the original japanese dub uses those same pronouns lol Envy is "he" in this and it's weird to force "they" on him.
@@KHloreExpert I don’t think that has to do with the gender identity rather maybe Japanese doesn’t have gender pronouns
@@Ani-gk2im Japanese 100% has gender pronouns. It's not some alien dialect. But again that's irrelevant. If Envy refers to himself as "he/him" then that's his pronouns. Period. Trying to erase his identity with whataboutisms is disgusting.
@@Ani-gk2im they do. But they also have gender absent pronouns which characters like envy and crona are referred to in Japanese dub. You have to keep in mind that both fmab and soul eater were dubbed back when "gender neutral pronouns" as we see it today werent a established concept in the west, so they were given gendered ones instead
24:26
no that was episode 25 of "fullmetal alchemist, brother"
26 is later the one I wanted to see a reaction for
You gotten love how the most Lovecraftian Nightmares in media all seem to come out of Japan. If anyone doubts that, just watch the original Berserk (especially the ending but DON’T SKIP AHEAD TO IT).
why hello cgi nightmare fuel envy
Reunited and it feels so good! ♫
12:48 Well the obvious would definitely be that sea of blood that’s surrounding em… lol
Day: ??? Of asking for a Hunter X Hunter reaction
i love envy as a villain, definitely one of my favorite evil characters.
Envy is far from my favorite homunculus. But he’s also low key best and scariest villain in the series.
تبدون حمقى انتم سيئون
The panda is from xing...xing is based on asia so it makes sense...the people of amestris almost know nothing about xing...thats why everybody think that its a cat
Plus even if they know about pandas, Xiao Mei is unnaturally small for a panda
Don't you mean China. Asia is a continent not a country.
