This would be the video I've made with all my researches on SFF PC building. But you missed out a quite significant part of audiences: the "Because I can" guys. I am kinda one of the "Because I can" guys, but I have to say, custom watercooling makes whole lot of difference. With custom watercooling you don't need a lot of airflow inside the case, just for the radiators. That means your radiator can be mounted away from the main components and have airflow completely unrestricted. I'd like to build something as small as the Project Spark shown in CES 2018 by Digital Storm, but that would be way too extreme, and I'd like to stiff a 7980XE in it so I can't cheap out on the radiator as well. The real thing you need to add in this video is one more bar between "Cost", "Size" and "Performance": "Thermal". Watercooling provides a solution to high thermal requirements at the cost of skyrocketing the already high cost high performance components. Yes, budget builds are simply maximizing performance, minimizing cost and size, make a good ratio and call it a day. But when cost isn't something to worry about, the SFF army would have much more freedom. :D Sorry for confusing texts, it's great seeing a small youtuber talking about SFF PC building and promoting the information, and hope you have a nice day.
Also a because I can guy. I built an evga hadron with a mATX mobo, crossfire and a custom loop. But it was to make a point that the case is too big for a mitx case lmao.
Yep I do get your point. The prosumer and especially enthusiasts have that mentality and borderline obsession with cramming so much into something so small. I do believe that Price does come into consideration for majority of my viewers and that's why I focused on it. I do also understand thermals and tried to touch on some thermal issues in this video but didn't think it warranted its own category. Thanks for commenting and I hope I addressed your questions.
What is the case and power supply you used for the build in the last one? You should take a look at the Silverstone Sugo SG13. It is quite cheap at £40/£50 and can fit a full size GPU, desktop APU, and even a 3.5 inch SSD all being small enough to fit in a back pack while still having fantastic air flow if you add a fan. It also has radiator support for the recommended 120mm AIO though a low profile cooler like the Noctua NH-L9i would also fit. Also Fractal Design Core 500 is a great case that I have used in the past and should fit in a backpack though I never tried that. It can fit a tall air cooler, 3 3.5 inch hdd's or 3 2.5 inch ssd's (or maybe 2 3.5 inch hdds). It can fit a full desktop atx psu a 240 freaking aio as well. It also comes with a fan included. Very good thorough video. What would you say is your favorite sff case so far? Any good sff psu recommendations?
Case: lian li PC q21B, PSU, GEEEK 400W flex power supply, I would definitely recommend corsair SF600w PSU, OR if you have the budget, HDPLEX 400w. Yep i do know about the sugo sg13 and silverstone's offerings, like their milo line and RVZ01/02/03 line. However it definitely is more on the large side and since it's large, it will accommodate more hardware. however, the main point of this video is about fitting the MOST into the LEAST, and I simply threw all the budget options out of the window. Favorite SFF case? S4 mini. Honestly, I've moved on from SFF as laptops are simply the better and more sensible option for a portable build, the whole notion of (BUT WHY NOT?) doesnt make any sense from a value standpoint and it is driven by pure passion and an obsession to downsize your desktop, which I can respect.
@@Anitomicals Well I guess so but I could argue that laptops are way too over priced. I built my itx gaming PC for around 500 a bit less and it is way cheaper and more powerful then a laptop. The SG13 is not that big and I am using it now with an itx b450 mobo for ryzen and will upgrade to ryzen 3000 soon. But it can fit a full rx 570. Any decent spec gaming laptop would be at least £1000 even ones with only a GTX 1050. I cannot justify a gaming laptop with a GTX 1050 and only 4 cores for $1000/pounds. But ones with a GTX 1060-1070 or even rtx are upwards of $2000. I suppose if you travel non stop then its worth it but even for me who only travels every few months for half term, ITX is the way to go. I can fit my gaming pc in my backpack and the rest of the stuff in my suitcase. I am saving up for a portable 15 inch monitor that can also fit in my backpack but I might not need it since i have a tv where I am going. I also have a cheap laptop with a 940mx gpu. But basically itx is the way to go I think. Sorry for the long comment, lol. But I cannot recommend gaming laptops. They are over priced, overheated, and just not very well made for the money.
loved your dual monitor diy laptop! congrats
portable desktop**
