As a console gamer, Trickster's recoil acted has made it difficult for me to try learning him. I smiled so big when I read the recoil was being removed.... then that smile faded to horror as I read the other changes 😬
The biggest and main problem with this game: The ping difference. I can't understand how a game that's been around for 7 years and is considered a AAA studio is unable to find a fix or balance to each players ping difference. Almost all other online games have this built into their systems, but BHVR seems to not care. If they did a fix for this a lot, and I mean A LOT, of the other issues people have with the game will be resolved and it will be one step closer to being more balanced.
As a person that enjoys playing Trickster. Here is my honest opinion about the changes currently The main event changes need to be change, 6 hits is too soon to have an ultimate ability, especially sense it's proven that trickster could could tunnel a survivor with a well placed m1+ knives combo or a well placed main event. I would like main event more frequently but not at the cost of me not feeling like I earned. Factor in that now there is no more recoil it's going to be a mess. As for the movement speed. This was a good change because out of all of the range killers, it made zero sense why he was so slow. Huntress's Hatchetts can down you with 2-1 well aimed shots with a busted hit box. It made sense why she was slow because of her lethality. Deathslinger same thing 2-1 shots plus 2-1 M1 hits. However it make sense lore wise why's so slow because he has a knee brace and his ranged attack is not as strong as Huntress but just as deadly if you know how to aim. Trickster a very skinny person which carries glass pocket knives and requires to land 6 knives to injure and additional 6 blades to down a survivor. Lore wise and gameplay wise it make absolutely no sense why a killer that requires more more ranged hits to injure be one of the slowest in the game. I'm happy to land more shots if it means that I can move like a normal killer, and it could m1 as Trickster an option as it should with every killer. Now onto the recoil, I never really minded the recoil with Trickster even while using a controller, because you need some sort of counterplay and you need to give a chance for the survivors to dodge. Controller players you want less recoil and want to land your shots... (tap the button instead of holding it down) your shots are more accurate your saving more knives and it teaches you better target focus. Also what might make this more problematic is in the last patch behavior buffed locker reload speeds. So if Trickster has the USB Addon + Iron Maiden his reload speed is 2 seconds add a normal moving killer and zero recoil and a main event every 6 knives. He's way overtuned. Just give normal movement speed but I need to land more hits. And I'll be happy but everyone playing again him won't. Unless your using the new MFT.
@@goodbyed0m I wasn't around during that time. Starting playing during september, a month after Wesker's release. I wonder what slinger's old ADS felt like.
@@Edwin-iw8gbi mean there literally was no counterplay. Im pretty sure zubatlel has a whole compilation video where he just walks towards survivors and the survivor kept on dodging even though he isnt doing anything.
It's crazy for me that people like Otz will talk about uncertainty of hackers with MTS, but won't touch the subject of anti-cheats. Why is it basically non-existent?
I’ve always wondered how they determine how large maps should be when creating them. Especially when, as you referenced, the roster of powers is only getting larger as time goes on. It’s not even isolated to older maps, as they’ve changed ones like Artist’s.
Gonna love people using the Iri that makes you reload whenever you use main event. So you’ll never have to reload ever again if you can just hit 6 blades 😂
His main event change is gonna be absolutely busted, there's no denying that, so the fact they are humoring it in general is scary. But it is a test build and testing shit like thst is the point.
I'm a Trickster main and I also think this is too much. But I wait for the PTB to see how it is in practice (see because I'm Epic) and for Live servers to see how they are gonna change it
@@matthewking7571 I know. And I agree with a recoil. My biggest doubts are bigger terror radius and shorter main event. But you know, for now it's only my first thoughts. I will just wait 2 days and see new Trickster in action
I think alot of killers just need adjustments to the speed they do things at. For instance to make trapper more in line with the best killers in the game, make the trap setting speed much faster, make him start with all traps. Make freddy/dredges teleport faster. Just catch them up to the speed that the game is paced at instead of nerfing and buffing things randomly. They can easily speedup animations and power and it would be massive QoL improvements requiring little investment and time.
I disagree with you on the recoil and movement speed changes. Trickster projectiles do not immediately injure you or inflict you with deep wound like the Huntress or Slinger. He works exactly like plague, but without an anti-heal ability or the power to down over tall walls the same way she does with her corrupt purge. Plus he still has his lullaby on, meaning you will hear him coming from afar similar to Wesker. However i 100% side with you about 6 blades main event and his add ons pass. Him being constantly capable to trigger main event every 6 blades is removing any skills in chase whatsoever. And if you pair this with his "death throw compilation" which still allows him to replenish his blades (even though it works differently). I think they seriously need to rethink his main event power because as it goes, even Plagues corrupt purge is not as consistent as power up.
Trickster is ranged in the same way Plague is ranged: lethal in short to medium range, but laughable at long range. Trickster being the same speed as long distance killers like Huntress and Deathslinger made him awful to play not only in tall loops, but just in general when it came to map traversal. He's not like the other two where in a small window they can hit you for one health state. Trickster has to have continous line of sight in order to damage you and him being as slow as those killers makes him feel like shit. They also reworked Main Event to where it occurs more frequently but in shorter bursts, so it is really meant to quickly down one survivor in a chase and not a long barrage because 99% of the time, you wouldn't even use the other half of Main Event because the survivor would either already be on the ground, or have gotten to a safe loop. They also are giving survivors more counterplay to avoid damage from Trickster by increasing the laceration meter to 8 blades instead of the 6 that we currently have, and the decay starts faster than what it is currently. As someone whose most played killer is Trickster, I am so happy for these changes and I think it will alleviate a lot of the issues that he currently faces on live servers. Cheers!
The way i look at this is just, let me see what they cooked up first and then i’ll form an opinion. But the way it sounds on paper is that they just giga buffed trickster. I don’t understand why they would want to make main event wo easy to aquire since it basically just insta downs people in a bad position.
Tbh I feel like that's just because before it we had a string of pretty awful maps. I'd still rather play on any of the MacMillan, Azarovs, or even on Eyrie before Nostromo.
Larger Terror Radius + No Recoil = Pretty alright, and slightly easier for new Trickster players. SIX! (6) Blade hit Main Event + Faster Ranged Killer = Awful. What are they even thinking. (They could make him 4.6, but like, only if they reduce base knife capacity some/Raise the knife hit bar for achieving Main Event some.)
Never locker teched a main event before eh? There's a very obvious sound queue you can react to when trickster starts main event and he can't grab during main event so you can avoid it in a locker. Wonder how it's going to work now that he's 115% though. With good timing you could still make it to a pallet after locker teching main event but now he's faster so we'll see.
Since he's faster we'll be able to power bait him at pallets easier now like alien and nemesis. Fake the pallet drop and watch him pull out the knives like nemesis with whip or alien with tail strike
I think small maps are worse for nurse and blight More things for them to hit and significantly more chances for a nurse to go through more walls than planned
Trickster is so frustrating to play on controller. The recoil is so awkward and clunky, and raises his skill floor pretty high on controller. I've played a lot of fps games, his recoil is one of the worst I've ever encountered. Especially in a game, where every second really matters, its just way to much work. I hope that's a change that stays, at least on controller, so i can actually play him
I just wanted his bounce add on base kit and increase the requirement by like 4 or 5 since itd be easier but not apply to Main Event to make it more of a showstopper when confident. Everything else is overkill.
he had recoil? been using him for a few weeks on PC. never noticed. And main event is trash what are you talking about. It only serves as an ammo extender. if a survivor goes down to main event. they were going down to blades either way.

Yeah they removed recoil for making him more controller friendly while at the same time they setted the controller stick deadzone to max because fuck controller
I think the extreme buffs are due to the fact that trickster is both under picked while simultaneously sucking donkey balls in terms of kill rates. And we all know how much BHVR loves raw data. In their eyes, the extreme buffs might seem reasonable, and to their credit, I have played games where low tier characters have received substantial buffs and turned out fine.
