My husband used to play this song Everyday with his Spanish Guitar. He loved Santana very much. On Dec 19 2023 by 4.10a he passed. Was on inducted coma for a month unconscious. I used to play it on his ear...and that was the only time I saw him smile. Were together for 50 years my Eternal Love Nicholas😢🎉❤️

The whole thing is sublime. Santan's take on this George Harrison's masterpiece of songwritting, the vocals of India Arie, The Cello of YoYo-Ma and the young ' dancer ' all gel superbly together. Who is that young dancer anyway? She displays such vulnerabilty yet strength at the same time.
The beauty of this masterpiece is that the lead section was further improvised by George's good friend, Eric Clapton..

I've heard a lot of originals and renditions in my 52 years. This is by far in my top 5. The way Santana blends his guitar into the singer is nothing short of magical. It's like the singer is singing at the peak of her passion on every line then Santana slides his guitar to do what seemed to be impossible in order to accentuate her passion. Absolutely mythical.

If someone told me there would be a crossroad for the unimaginable guitar playing of Santana, the emotional grasp of India Arie's voice, and YoYo Ma's deceptively powerful talent I would never in a million years be able to think of a project that could bring them together. When you add George Harrison's song writing into the mix you instantly get 4-6 minutes (depending on the video or album version, I believe it's longer) of pure emotional nirvana

@@jods1 Two reasons that I'm aware of; George was a very melodic lead player and he knew that this song needed something a little different than his style. There was also a lot of tension between the guys while recording the 'While Album' so he thought that by bringing in a guest musician, they would quit bickering (Ringo actually quit for a short time). George and Eric were good friends so George asked him to come in and play on the song and that got the song done and calmed the atmosphere in the studio.

George Harrison contacted me from the grave and told me that he was unhappy with this version. He said, why can't Carlos play it like Eric Clapton did, which is the way I did it? I said, I don't know man, maybe Carlos wants to make it his own, man, like he does with everything else he plays. :-)

I'm just an old blues player, and I've been around the block a time or ten. I survived the dark side of the road and made it to the living side. But, despite being hardened by this life, I have to admit, this video and the symbolism moved me to tears. I have always enjoyed Santana's guitar playing, but this will forever remain in my heart and soul.

I've been waiting for a cover of this song as I felt that the original had left tremendous room for artistic interpretation. This arrangement with the soulful vocals and engaging Latin guitar has filled that void seamlessly. Bravo Mr Santana!

Man... Santana's guitar... You can hear it and know what the music is about without someone singing. Don't get me wrong. The singer is incredible! And I want know her name. But Santana, particularly, is one of few artists who knows how to translate emotions and feelings into melodies.
