>>>Shoots six rockets >Misses them all This can happen if the target is moving in a different direction. >>>Kills it with one rocket, but fires two more just to be sure Cyberdemons always shoot three rockets, unless being hurt during this sequence. The same applies to mancubi as well.
Lost Soul damage output is pretty weak, even if the RNG is on their side. That and their AI having a habit of forgetting their target after doing an attack was another factor in why both they fared poorly and also caused matches to drag out as the Cyberdemon picked them off.
God this was crazy lol it went exactly like I expected Lost Souls couldn’t stop hurting each other to get to the Cyberdemon while it picked off the 1s in the front, can you please do The Spidermastermind vs Pain Elementals? I can’t wait to see how that unfolds haha
You see killbots have a preset kill limit. Knowing their weakness I sent wave after wave of my own men at them until they reached their limit and shut down.
Lost Souls kind of have the Chaingunner problem where increasing their number doesn't really help because the ones in back are just going to cause in-fighting deaths to their own side.
i noticed that observation too. it seems like they are proportionately more effective when there is less of them - because the cyberdemon's rockets arent a sure-hit
@GG Retro Battles ... At 15:05, a rocket seems to explode on the camera (at 15:06). Is this because it hit the camera (player) or was this because there happened to be a Lost Soul at the camera position? I am curious how this simulation works. Can the camera stop projectiles? Does the camera have a hitbox? Is the camera actually the player with God mode and Fly mode enabled? Thanks.
He is just pitting monsters against each other on a scripted map, then recording it by flying around, he doesn't use noclip either. So the rocket simply hit him.
@@inkoalawetrust ... Ok understood. Thanks :) So technically he can also block monster movement, correct? ... Also, I assume that the monsters (enemies, not the friendly) do not attack him because he must have the NoTarget mode enabled.
Because he had killed the lost soul in the first rocket, but he hadn't died till he fired second rocket. He died after firing second rocket so cyber didn't fire third rocket
This seems to be a sourceport thing. These videos are probably recorded in gzdoom, which has a slightly different code than the original doom. Lost souls, unlike most other monsters, dont leave a corpse behind, which probably confuses the engine, making the cyberdemon unable to find the coordinates it has to fire at.
There's a bug where when they take damage they're supposed to be knocked back slightly, but if the lost soul is charging when it takes damage, then the calculation goes wrong and the lost soul is forced to finish its charge with the momentum of the knock back instead of the forward charge. That's why so many of them seem stuck "drifting" slowly towards the edge of the map. They think they're mid-charge so they can't stop until they hit something.
Let it be known that these results aren't because the Lost Souls are lacking in power, it's because their fighting method/AI is very inefficient and makes it easy for a Cybie to stomp them regardless of the growing numerical advantage.
Well, that plus the fact that they're killing themselves and each other by the literal thousands. Infighting has been turned off, which only means a monster won't turn around and retaliate against something that damaged it. It doesn't stop the damage from actually happening, and on Nightmare when they all charge, they all smash into each other and die, and the Cyberdemon just mops up the rest.
Death by a thousand cuts... Tbh, it seems like most of the souls are just bouncing off one another missing the Cyberdemon lol who else double'd the playback speed XD
Man, I lost whatever bet I placed on the Cyberdemon losing to 1000 Lost Souls on Nightmare, thought for sure he was going to literally get eaten alive.
Looked like the engine was struggling with the 10,000 vs 1 matchup. Otherwise, this one was a total cluster with Lost Souls largely doing themselves in and the Cyberdemon picking off the survivors of the friendly fire exchanges.
Not too surprised with the final round victory but for a minute there, I was wondering if the Cyber would win. Also, those Lost Soul grins look especially smug whenever the rockets just barely miss.
So if your looking for new employee's are work best to remember it's always better to hire one cyberdemon rather than 5000 and it's a 50/50 on 1000. I assume their ability to kill each other crosses over to pretty much any other employable work skill.
Cyberdemon is immune to his own splash damage (unlike Doom Guy). And the way the lost souls crowd up around him, they just end up blocking each other and can't get in close enough for their attack.
hmmm... maybe i should learn how to make monsters... a doom boss, the mother of all lost souls, as big as a cybie, eye lasers, spits fire, charges at you, a single bite costs 75 hp, invulnerable to plasma or bfg. heck, bfg restores its health because why not.
Oh that poor Cyberdemon! 2 - 3 of those brainless burning heads is annoying enough, dissapearing in an army of em is true hell. Loved the LS who spazed out at the end, just to be put out of its misery 😂

It's like watching an abrams tank getting nibbled to death by ducks lol!
The real MVP is RetroBattles's PC, what with not bricking itself over 10k of Lost Souls.
"Dumb. Tough. Flies. On fire. 'Nuff said."
The Lost Souls did more damage amongst themselves than the Cyberdemon alone ever did! 😂
Indeed. Perhaps reduce the number of monsters per wave, and count how much waves a monster can survive.
XD
A Cyber's POV camera would be very interesting to see.
you know taken out of context that could mean something totally different

This is the most relevant RUclips video this year
That Cyber knows what it’s like walking around the Florida Everglades in the summer.
I once made a dehacked version of the lost soul that spawned three of them upon dying. Named it Hydra. Kinda gave the same chaos as in this video haha
You need 10tons of mosquitoes to bring down a Cyber
This was truly the silliest Doom video I’ve seen on RUclips. Nicely played!
Ahh yes, the Stoppable Force meets the Movable Object.
Almost flawless victory. I thought the Lost Souls would've did better than that.
Lost Soul damage output is pretty weak, even if the RNG is on their side. That and their AI having a habit of forgetting their target after doing an attack was another factor in why both they fared poorly and also caused matches to drag out as the Cyberdemon picked them off.
They had no hope. They stop targetting, they hit each other, their damage is bad and the cyberdemon doesn't take splash damage.
"would've DID"? really?

Lost Souls have some really derpy AI.
They're special for sure. Even forget who they're targeting after making an attack.
Yeah, great projectiles but pretty stupid enemies
You could say they seem a little lost. Or that they get lost easily...
There's a bug where when they take damage they're supposed to be knocked back slightly, but if the lost soul is charging when it takes damage, then the calculation goes wrong and the lost soul is forced to finish its charge with the momentum of the knock back instead of the forward charge.

Splash damage makes the Cyberdemon way too effective at slaughtering multiple lost souls at once.
