Talk of you're trip makes me realize I need to put in more effort to go appreciate it more often. I hope you stick around for winter and enjoy what our mountain wilderness looks like under a fresh blanket of snow. The forest is a palette of color that almost feels like an alien planet on a sci fi movie. Do you have any foliage changes in any parts of Africa? P.s. what type of board do you surf with there?
You have a gift for making even a simple day ride feel like a huge journey across a continent. As others have said there is a patience to your editing pace. It's like you trust the attention span of the viewers enough to hang on each moment just long enough. It's similar to a cinema movie pacing rather than short form social media. Akron, OH checking in. I'm in bed with covid so I can only ride vicariously through others for the time being. But it looks absolutely beautiful up there. Ride on, my friends!
Hello out there in Ohio! I lived in Lima for 4 years so Ohio was home for a while. Sorry you have covid and can't ride. Hopefully you're in the upswing with it though.
Greetings from East Tennessee and congratulations on another great video. One of the best things I like about your channel is that you're regular, everyday people and you're not constantly promoting products. I also love your dog. Terriers rock!
Terriers do rock ha ha. We have company's send us products but we will only ever suggest a product if we've put it through many tests and then we'll use it in the videos and if someone inquires about it we'll arrange for a discount code but it needs to align with our videos flow and our vibe. I think straight up product ads disrupt a videos flow and only work if it fits in organically to the content. We are currently testing a couple cool items we think are neat and if we think it's worth mentioning then we will but my goal is not to feel like a salesman pitching things to people. I don't enjoy content like that so no reason to make content like that. We have a membership subscription and if people feel compelled to donate then cool, it can help with film equipment etc, but it's not what drives us to make these videos. I just love that people enjoy them and take something positive from them. Thank for your kind words.
I love Tennessee, used to travel to beautiful Bristol every year when I worked as a pit crew member in professional drag racing for 12 years. Gorgeous area.
I live in Manchester, NH and my sister lives up in Holderness, and I'm up there often and hang sometimes in Campton! I always imagine how sweet it would be to run into you guys some day while I'm on a gravel ride! LOVE this channel; feels like home to me. Thank you for the time and effort you both put into making these beautiful videos.
Thank you for such a kind comment! It feeling like home is one of the best compliments I could ask for and describes the vibe I'm trying acheive because of how new england has always had the feeling of home for me, no matter where I go. I hope we run into you on a ride as well!
I live in north New Jersey, close to NYC, but you'd be surprised how many places there are to hti some gravel, and traveling out the Deleware/ Lehigh river canal trails or Deleware/ Raritan trail, the Old Croto Aqueduct. there are so many places to see. Riding in the city (NYC) and seeing stuff and along the Hudson river is amazing.
What a wonderful attitude you guys have towards your area and bicycling. Your videos are not about carbon fiber bike equipment, How Far?, How Fast?, Double diamond technical routes, spandex and energy bars, etc. Your biking just puts you in the mood to enjoy Balanced Land that has variety. Does the little doggie ever get a chance to run on a leash alongside the bike, in low traffic areas?
Thank you so much for that recognition of how we perceive a ride. You're spot on with that observation. Also, I really want to save people the visial horror of me wearing spandex 😂Buddy used to trot next to us from time to time but he's now 17 years old with poor vision and just likes to enjoy the breeze and a quick dip in the river. I'm so glad that's what you took from our videos because my goal is to simply portray the emotion that being in a beautiful landscape with loved ones can evoke. Thank you!
Thank you! I love the Carolinas, reminds me of here in many ways but with a friendlier winter climate ha ha. Do you have a lot of gravel near your town?
Love your videos! The quality is awesome. Keep them coming. I rode 24 miles today. It was a beautiful low humidity 75 degree sunny day in Indiana. Rare for August.
Thank you! Oh I remember the humid summer days of Indiana quite well ha ha! Proud to have called it home for so many years. Some of the nicest people I've ever had the pleasure of being around. Where did you ride?
I rode an easy paved trail from converse through Sweetser to eat at Culver’s in Marion. The little town of Sweetser had a nice bike repair station. I’ve never seen one before. I’ll put a pic on Facebook. Also, a side note…the other day I was wondering if you still have Buddy. Good to see the little guy. :)
@KayKunkle-h8c that sounds wonderful. Indiana has some awesome rail trails. We miss the Monon and The Nickle Plate trail. Seems like they've built a lot more since we moved.
I can definitely see the comparison. South Carolina is a beautiful state. Winters are much more kind there for continuing to ride through the year ha ha.what town are you from.
@@ThatMountainMoment I live in Lexington right outside of Columbia. Lots of farm roads around us. But we also have the mountains in the upstate and all the coastal towns too. No more than a 2 hour drive for either.
Oh that's a nice location. Very similar distance to ocean for us, farmland in Vermont and mountains where we are. How are your winters? We've considered travelling to our amazing southern neighbor states for a few weeks to escape the cold and ride.
@@ThatMountainMoment Winters can be great. January and February can have some cold snaps that I’ll choose to not ride in. But with proper outerwear we can ride close to all year long. But the fall is best which basically can last through much of December. Especially in the lower elevations like where we are and towards the coast.
@rug212 oh that's good info. Thank you. Fall is perhaps my favorite climate. Cool, no bugs, dry air that's ushered in with the most perfect breeze. It's perfect
You two definitely have a beautiful area to ride. We have some beautiful places/routes here in Oklahoma, but you have to drive at least 45 minutes or more to get to them. There's a nice 27+ mile gravel route with pretty views and a swim at the end, doing it again in two weeks on my 26" Frankengravel build.
That sounds like an awesome day! I bet there is loads of open gravel roads 8n Oklahoma. I love a cool frankenbike build. A lot of my bikes have been something of the sort over the years. What's your bike build consist of?
@ThatMountainMoment The frame is my 1998 Barracuda XC URT steel frame that I had ridden for ten yrs before hanging it up. The build consists of: Carver rigid steel fork (suspension corrected at 440mm axle/crown), 26" wheelset w/ Continental tires, 12 spd crankset off my hardtail w/ a 32t nw chainring (6mm offset to keep chain alignment correct), 11-34 7 spd cassette, Alivio 7 spd derailleur, friction thumbshifter from an '86 Jamis, a Satori Aero bars (Amazon, knockoff of the Origin8 Strongbow), and Paul Components Cross Stop 3's brakeset that I bought in 1997, actuated by Dia-compe brake levers from the '86 Jamis. It's a softtail gravel bike of sorts with the URT rear suspension. It looks rather odd but rides great.
I was just up in Lincoln for 3 nights! Stayed in a condo right at the base of Loon, went and hiked up the Basin, gondola-d up Loon, drove up Mount Washington for my $100 bumper sticker, went and had a Muddy Moose burger in NoCo...such a great part of the country.
That sounds like a great trip to the Whites. So much to do and see. It really is one of the best parts of the country. Buts still mostly just New Englanders that credit it and visit. Which im fine with ha ha. 🤫
It's our planet to share with eachother and enjoy as long as we all respect it. I'm glad you come and enjoy it. Nature needs to be an integral part of our lives. It makes us better people and adds more meaning to our lives. Thank you.
Tuscon! We love the desert. I'm so glad you enjoy our channel. It was sort of my home away from home when I was in my career days that travelled there quite often. Almost moved out there at one point. We've never been to Tucson though and it's been the #1 place on our list to see lately. Looks like such an awesome place. I love the vastness of the desert it has always hit me deeply at the heart level when im there. There's something so alluring to witnessing its landscape. Favorite book of all time is Desert Solitaire by Edward Abbey. Are you from there originally?
Just watched this video ...first time watching you 2...and immediately subscribed. Your riding attitude is the same s my wife's and myself 's riding attitude. Wash the social crap away and unwind and enjoy what's around you. The beauty of the gravel and nature. We live in the foothills southeast of Buffalo N.Y. Out favorite trails are the Erie Canal Trail and the Genesee Valley Rail trail. This trail is 90 miles long and goes from Rochester to Cuba NY. It's also a state park...50 ish foot wide and 90 miles long! An old canal towpath/ railroad bed which has been used by us humans for 160 years. Highly recommend these 2 trails. Take care for now and pedal for peace!
Love it! It's so refreshing to interact in here with people that just enjoy being on a bike or outside in nature. I have a friend that 8 work with from Buffalo and he's told me about those trails and they sound really fun. The history of those old canal towpaths are very interesting. We rode the C&O Canal Trail this spring near my sister's house in Maryland to West Virginia and it was stunning. The eerie canal has been on our list too and now I'll add the Genessee. Thank you so much for your comment and subscribing.
Also I have been keeping up on the progress of the Adirondack Rail Trail. Once they get the next portion done we will be riding that. Saranac Lake area is beautiful. Like your Whites in New Hampshire.
We love the Saranac area. Yes you're so right about it being similar to here. So much pristine land to enjoy. We used to venture over that area frequently but Buddy our little pup is 17 so he doesn't travel quite as well lately. Really want to also go there to use our back country nordic skis at some point.
@davidweeks3758 how long is the ADK trail when it's complete? If you haven't already done the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail in Vermont, it's so beautiful and lots of great towns to stay in or camp along the way. One of our favorites.
My wife had a baby a couple of weeks ago so I haven’t been riding much, but I was able to sneak out for a bike path (paved and gravel mix) ride around Park City UT a few days ago. A few sections I’d ridden before, but never linked up until now. Super fun. Lovely video as always, thank you.
Congrats on your baby! I bet the bike path in Park City has awesome views. Love Utah's mountains! Good to hear you still were able to get out for some "you time" especially as a new dad. Much Love and health to you, your wife and your newborn baby.
Love the wizard of Oz opening with the black and white to color Those canoes were bagging to be put in that pond next time take some paddles with you . Thumbs up on the drone My new knee is starting to healing iup nicely and I've gotten back on the bike for a few short rides What a great feeling Again great video
Oh that's so good to hear about your knee. It's been a while s8nce you've been able to ride correct? I feel like we initially discussed it quite some time ago. So happy to know you can enjoy the freedom of two wheels again. The Canoe was very tempting ha ha.
I love your videos. They make me miss NH. Such a beautiful state. I need to take a trip and do this loop. The song of the Hermit thrush is my favorite, first really heard it up on Mt Desert Isle. Sounds like a flute!
When's the last time you visited NH? And yes the flute is the exact way I've described it to people before. Incredible that a living creature can create such a perfect tone without an instrument.
@@ThatMountainMoment I spent a week camping in June of 2021. Too long ago! I don't live that far away (a couple of hours), so no excuse not to pick one of your rides and go. I really enjoy your channel. You do a wonderful job of telling a story. And its the simple things that bring joy like a bike ride with beautiful scenery and a swim in a river.
@mariasven822 what a motivating comment. I always struggle with the idea of the story telling side of things and not just footage of a bike which is why I try to include little extras like swimming and coffee etc. My goal is to continue making gravel videos but also include sort of a video journal of the little moments that make life special and of how much I hold new england in my heart almost like a video journal. I have stories that I want to tell beyond the bikes but i know that's why most tune in and do enjoy making them. Thank you🙏
@@ThatMountainMoment well usually it’s the dutchess rail trail, I get off to do some hills and then back home. It’s the perfect 17 miler before work. @johnlieto8906 ADK is such an awesome part of our country. We love visiting there. Might be heading over there to Buck Pond State Park to camp for a couple nights in a few couple weeks. Your local ride sounds perfect. I feel the 20 ish mile distance is perfect for that "out your door" type of ride.
Great video! Actually used to live in Campton NH back when I worked at Plymouth St. Unfortunately I didn’t get into gravel riding until after we moved down to Virginia.
Campton a great town. Virginia has a lot of gravel roads too. I forgot the county name but it boasts 300 miles of gravel in just that county. Are you from NH originally?

It was really cool, had the perfect amount of aged patina to it. I grew up in the hot rod world and later a career un motorsports so my love for old vehicles runs deep. What year was yours?
@@ThatMountainMoment I believe it was a '71. Ended up being purchased by a friend's daughter who used it well as a college vehicle for four years. A little TLC and those trucks will serve you for a long time.
@PastorKwangle oh for sure, small block chevy from those times was bulletproof and the steel back then was such higher quality. I had a 63 falcon that I built up in high school. It was a lot of fun, 4speed manual, high revving small block and a nitrous oxide system. Miss it a lot. Vintage vehicles are untouchable in price now.
Oh cool that's Vermont's state bird and I always here them when we ride over there. Don't seem to hear them quite as often in our region but still definitely enough to enjoy thier song.
Merlin app while you ride. I ride for fun but also to change my body for the better (from 242 to 195 in 3 months). Got a snag with a surgery to the face this week motors is out for a while. Recumbent bike watching you to though. Keep it up from southern Nh
Wow that's an incredible change. Be proud of that for sure. I love how the bike is a vessel for fun but also how the health aspect is built into it. Live hearing a story such as yours. Very inspiring! Thank you for sharing such an open & honest comment.
We work weekends up here by choice so we have the quiet midweek days off but I'm really wanting to figure out a chill group ride and be able to host some people. We're thinking of doing a small grassroots gravel gathering at my mom's property in the heart of gravel country Vermont. She has 10 acres to camp on and gravel out the door. I guess this will be my first gauge of interest in this comment 🤔
Yes we frequent there often. Love that trail. We have a gravel video from a couple years ago where we made a loop from Beebe to sandwich notch into squam area then back up and over Mountain Road which dumps out right near "the creepy house" and back to Beebe. Great loop!

@@ThatMountainMoment That's quite a coincidence. I live less than 20 miles from the track. Small world.
@rogerdavis3454 ha ha that's a good coincidence. I worked in NHRA for the Napa Racing Nitro Funny Car and always looked forward to going to Bristol.
I live in north New Jersey, close to NYC, but you'd be surprised how many places there are to hti some gravel,
and traveling out the Deleware/ Lehigh river canal trails or Deleware/ Raritan trail, the Old Croto Aqueduct.
there are so many places to see. Riding in the city (NYC) and seeing stuff and along the Hudson river is amazing.
That does sound awesome! So much to see! I bet the Hudson is really neat to ride along and I'm sure there's some great food and coffee along the way?
@ThatMountainMoment - oh certainly. On either side of it ! Lots of history, things to see and stuff to eat.
Thank you!
Hello from western NC. Great video. Great channel. Endless joy. Love it.
Thank you! I love the Carolinas, reminds me of here in many ways but with a friendlier winter climate ha ha. Do you have a lot of gravel near your town?
@@ThatMountainMoment Not much gravel right out the door, but quite a bit with a short drive.
Another great video! Thank you!
Thanks John!
Beautiful countryside! Reminds me of a lot of the back roads we have down here in South Carolina 💚
Another great view into NH! Loved the b&w lead in, nice change. Would like a b&w rainy day ride, just saying
Thank you, I've been thinking of a full sepia or b&w episode for a while now. Rainy day would definately add to the mood. Great suggestion!
Agreed. I’m one of those from MA that keeps getting in y’all’s way and contributing to traffic 😂
It's our planet to share with eachother and enjoy as long as we all respect it. I'm glad you come and enjoy it. Nature needs to be an integral part of our lives. It makes us better people and adds more meaning to our lives. Thank you.
Hello from Tucson AZ , the bike trails are so different here ,rocky , no flow trails , but the beauty of the desert grows on you , love your channel !
Should have stated it as Genesee Valley Greenway trail 😊
Love the wizard of Oz opening with the black and white to color
Those canoes were bagging to be put in that pond next time take some paddles with you .
Thumbs up on the drone
My new knee is starting to healing iup nicely and I've gotten back on the bike for a few short rides
What a great feeling
Again great video
Thank you🙏
Hello again from ny Hudson valley, Dutchess. Love this and love my local rides as well!
Hello! Great to hear from you again. Thank you for returning btw. Tell me about your local ride!
@@ThatMountainMoment well usually it’s the dutchess rail trail, I get off to do some hills and then back home. It’s the perfect 17 miler before work. Burn 800 Cals etc. I do have weekend rides that are on country roads north and east of me that are harder. I also get up to the Adirondack’s which is very amazing.
@@ThatMountainMoment we will be up on the placid area in September. If you ever get to my area let me know!
Was in that area last summer. Went to see the beautiful gunks
Such a great channel. Yes get the drone.
Thank you so much! Just picked it up at the post office yesterday. Learning how to fly it this week.
@@ThatMountainMoment yeah there is a lot down here. Some cool rail to trails also. Did the Virginia Creeper Trail a few months back and that was awesome.
No grew up in the Cincinnati area but my wife is from outside of Boston and we lived in Campton NH for 4 years while I worked at PSU. Benton’s Sugar Shack, Little Red School House and Mad River Coffee are some amazing food spots that I really miss!
@jeremyfritz7850 Nikki used to work at Mad River and its still our go to of course. Little Red School House is delish! I went to college in Lima, OH so we have some similarities there.
Virginia Creeper Trail looks sweet!
Love your Gravel, Coffee, Swim Videos.. when I visit my Dad.. sometimes we watch the NH Chronicles.. learn A lot about NE.. very cool you had a segment.. Will watch it.. Lots of Great Rides in NC.. Yesterday Bike Ride is one of my favorites.. Lake Tillery Loop.. my route is in Strava & Rides GPS 🚴♂️ with Lunch at the Boathouse fantastic views of the lake.. you can actually park your boat & Have lunch.. @@billysbikesbrews7183I loved it. Caleb and Nikki took me there. I still remember all the scenery. Every turn was a postcard
Yes, we've done it many times. Highly recommend it especially during fall. Be sure to stop at Cherry Pond preservation along the way. Great open views of the Presidential Range. If you have time to zip over to Vermont and ride parts of the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail especially around the Cambridge area. It's awesome!

I just discovered your channel, and now you have a new subscriber. I'm not too far away, over in southeastern Vermont. I'm always looking for new and interesting rides within a couple hours' drive from home, and this looks like one I'll definitely have to try. Looking forward to exploring more of your content.
Hi Bob, thank you so much for subscribing to our channel. What town in Vermont are you in, my mom lives in Jacksonville, VT near Wilmington. We're actually there now visiting. She has some incredible gravel rides out her door that I can share to you if you need any. She's south central Vermont I guess I would call it. I really appreciate you exploring our channel.

@@ThatMountainMoment I’m located in Brattleboro. Although I love rides that start and end in my driveway, I’ve been trying to venture farther afield lately. And NH is sort of mostly unexplored territory for me. So definitely interested in any gravel ride recommendations. I’ve ridden around the Wilmington area a bit. Hope you’re having fun there. And thanks for the binge list. I’ll check it out!
@BobInVT up our way in the White Mountain region; Sugar Hill, Rumney, campton, Lyman, landaff, Dorchester, Orford, Swiftwater, have some gems. Get on the NH Gravel Facebook Page. We're all on there sharing our routes and they keep a link to the huge collection to all the routes. Really good resource!
I want that old pickup - used to have one about the same age, but family needs came first and I got rid of it.
Your bird song is coming from a hermit thrush. 🙂 (Or a swainson's thrush...).
Oh cool that's Vermont's state bird and I always here them when we ride over there. Don't seem to hear them quite as often in our region but still definitely enough to enjoy thier song.
D2R2 last Saturday. Great New England event.
It does look like a fun event! Right near my mom's house too
Nice neighborhood!
Thank you, it's a nice little nook of the White Mountain Region. Did you get out and ride this week?
I think that was a Gray Catbird..
Oh interesting, I've never heard of that one? It's a very soothing tone
I was on that stretch of road on 8/17/24. The smoke from the the fire in Canada made it a little difficult to breathe comfortably.
I went for a run after work and the air definately felt harder to breathe.
@@ThatMountainMoment On the up side, descending Pulsifer Hill Road has been improved by a lot.👍
@bobbabler1133 yeah huge difference!
I’m in Foxboro Ma. I wish we had more gravel roads like this. You guys ever put together group rides on a Sunday?
We work weekends up here by choice so we have the quiet midweek days off but I'm really wanting to figure out a chill group ride and be able to host some people. We're thinking of doing a small grassroots gravel gathering at my mom's property in the heart of gravel country Vermont. She has 10 acres to camp on and gravel out the door. I guess this will be my first gauge of interest in this comment 🤔
@@ThatMountainMoment that would be fun. I have Wednesdays off.
Oh perfect
Have you done beebe river grade right next door? Between that, perch pond, and east Rumney rd its some of the very best!
Yes we frequent there often. Love that trail. We have a gravel video from a couple years ago where we made a loop from Beebe to sandwich notch into squam area then back up and over Mountain Road which dumps out right near "the creepy house" and back to Beebe. Great loop!
