Can you only remove partial varnish and work on that area?

@@janetferraroartstudio4234 Thank you so much! I have a little section needs to be fixed, but I don't want to remove the Gamvar on the whole painting.

I used Gamvar satin varnish on 2 Alkyd paintings, an acrylic and an oil. It was okay with 2 coats on the oil. On the alkyds and acrylic it was a disaster. Shiny areas and dull matt areas and streaks. Will attempt to remove varnish with Gumsol from alkyds and acrylic paintings. Will never get Gamvar again. Could've done with knowing about the warming the stuff up beforehand to be honest.
