Perfect amount of info without spoiling anything Your reviews are too good I've been putting saga off for the longest time but now I feel like I need to get this
Great review. I got the first trade just to check the series out, and I must say, it is pretty freaking brilliant. I was debating getting the rest of the trades or the deluxe hardcover, but I think the hardcover is worth the investment. Thanks for the thorough review, you helped this chick make an informed purchasing decision.
Just got this in along with the Lazarus and Casanova hardcovers. Hopefully next year around this time or sooner we get the next volume of Saga in hardcover.
I just discovered your channel today, and quickly realized we share a lot of opinions on comic books and what we're looking for in a good story. I've been going through many of your videos looking for suggestions, which has lead me to some great new discoveries, so thanks for that! I was hoping like hell your opinion of Saga would echo mine, but alas, there is no contrarian voice to be found for this supremely popular title. I find the writing juvenile, the world paper thin, and the story to be lacking in poignancy, driven by the typical BKV "just read a little more and it will start to make sense" carrot-on-the-end-of-the-stick, but it sure as hell is popular. I will say it's easily digestible.
As a fan of the series, is it worth picking this up even if I've already got the tpb's? The process pages by BKV alone that you talk about are pretty tempting..
Just purchased vol. 1 can't wait to start reading...have heard nothing but great things about it from other book tubers. I didn't know they had book one and two... I think I need to order it, thought they were only sold in volumes. Thanks for the review!!
I'm so glad that I read the book first before watching your review. Dude, you are spilling too much details! lol I can't blame you though. The book's really great. Kept me flipping pages after pages after pages and not wanting the experience to stop, Great book! Sucks that I'm gonna have to wait for another year until the second deluxe edition comes out. I won't settle for tpb's (hard to sell them on my side of the planet), I'm not a fan of single issues and digital copies as well. Damn! BKV's the bomb!
You sold me, I put it in my Instocktrades.com wishlist, one and two. Kind of broke right now. Spent over five hundred this month and my budget is two hundred so it might be a while, thx for the video and have a great day.
Dude I was avoiding this book for a year because you said glued binding! And I just found out it's sewn! Hahaha all good, I think it's still available.
Hey man, Do they have all the covers of the separate issues in this Hardcover? If so, how are they presented? I already own Volumes 1, 2 & 3 of the Paperback, and I'm just trying to gauge if this is worth a purchase. Also looking forward to Vol 4 coming out this month! And learning bout' Sweetboy haha.
I found it somewhere for $49, I'm so tempted I'm up to date with the comics and I want to start collecting them If Saga has a movie adaption in the future, it could be the next Star Wars
the digital version of book one AND 2 are on sale for $13 each. i am thinking of getting each one despite owning every issue. judging by mention it being worth it at $30, i guess i'd be about missing out if i DIDN'T, right?
Only read the first trade of this series up until now, and liked it. Not loved it, however... Still, I will definitely pick up this hardcover to see what all the fuss is about! ;)
I already wanted to buy this edition of Saga because your review is so good, but then I saw your IBJJF and NAGA medals in the back and knew you were legit. 😎
I started with the singles, then sold those, then went to trade, and sold those, and now I'm reading it monthly on my tablet and buying the hardcovers when they come out. So I have literally read the series in every format it's on at some point. :p
I love this story and cannot wait to see where it goes. But I got a bit sad with Alana's actions when she was that superhero thing on T.V. Hopefully everything gets better.
Hey mate, how do you film your channel? Would the camera on a MacBook Pro do a good job as I'd like to start my own channel myself related to graphic novels. All the best, I love what you do, from Batman.
Its not for kids! Don't worry, I'm a 25 yr old woman! Anyway, I mostly read manga, but have been wanting to read more adult american/ western comics lately. Thanks to a game called The Wolf Among Us, I'm already 5 hardcover volumes in its comic cannon Fables and its great! Then there The Walking Dead comic. Can't remember where on the net, but when I said I want mature fantasy comic, they recommended Saga. It definitely looks like I'd love it, so I'm going in blind. The weird thing is-I don't like Star Wars, but love the theme of space. I love hardcover, those Fables hardcovers are pretty! Anyway, a few people have said Image and Vertigo are the places to go if you want mature stories-any other recommendations? I don't do super heroes, but if there is an interesting twist, maybe?
I see medals and belts in the background. What kind of martial arts are you into? I just ordered this Saga HC last night. Looking forward to reading the series all over again
Controversial cover? Really? Heh, we are a funny people aren't we? I know you weren't affected by it - and that's a relief. Nice review. I just read through the first 3 volumes that I picked up at my local library and then immediately ordered this off of amazon. It has rare moments of shoddy writing... but they are very rare. The art is fantastic throughout.
I've been thinking about getting it I've been out of America comics for a long time because of all the sjw crap but I've been hearing really good things about saga I normally read manga's
Yo, man, I agree that Saga is great and that the hardcover format rocks, but the art-work on the cover sucks, in my opinion. It's ugly and plain. I don't think it's controversial at all -- not to me at least. I just don't like it aesthetically. That alone is why I'm sticking to the separate trade paperbacks instead of the hardcover.
Man I just don't get Saga, bought the first volume and waited for it to get interesting, it never really did. Had it's moments but most of it is randomness, weirdness, with childish dialogue and characters.
Perfect amount of info without spoiling anything
Your reviews are too good
I've been putting saga off for the longest time but now I feel like I need to get this
If Saga keeps going the way it has been I think it will be way better than Star Wars
Awesome! Happy to help.
Getting this bad boy shipped to me now and this review is getting me super excited! Thanks for the overview man
Just got this in along with the Lazarus and Casanova hardcovers. Hopefully next year around this time or sooner we get the next volume of Saga in hardcover.
Have heard great things about the Lazarus Hardcover. I plan to pick that up soon.
Alright man, I'm sold. Thanks for the great review.
I just got into this series myself and I absolutely adore it. it's probably my favourite series of all time.
Loved this video man :O I bought that hardback this time last year. It's genuinely one of my favourite series right now :)

+michaeloffgrid interesting point of view
What graphic novel has all solved all the flaws?
As a fan of the series, is it worth picking this up even if I've already got the tpb's? The process pages by BKV alone that you talk about are pretty tempting..

Ordered mine a few days ago, can't wait to get it! Thanks for the review!!!!
Just came in the mail today right before work so can't wait to read this book.
Just purchased vol. 1 can't wait to start reading...have heard nothing but great things about it from other book tubers. I didn't know they had book one and two... I think I need to order it, thought they were only sold in volumes. Thanks for the review!!
I got this the other day because I had read the first issue a couple years ago on comixology and loved it. Can't wait to pick up the second book!
Ordered it the other day as a Christmas present for myself. already read the 18 issues - but I so want to read the collection.
I'm so glad that I read the book first before watching your review. Dude, you are spilling too much details! lol I can't blame you though. The book's really great. I support this series in the issues format. Thanks for the HC review anyway.
I found it somewhere for $49, I'm so tempted

Only read the first trade of this series up until now, and liked it. Not loved it, however... Still, I will definitely pick up this hardcover to see what all the fuss is about! ;)
Awesome man. Give it another try. I've had series before where I've had to step away and come back to it. Hope you enjoy it! :)
I already wanted to buy this edition of Saga because your review is so good, but then I saw your IBJJF and NAGA medals in the back and knew you were legit. 😎
just picked up the HC yesterday....amazing shit...
great review! do you also collect the paperback edition of Saga too? or you just wait for the hardcover?
I started with the singles, then sold those, then went to trade, and sold those, and now I'm reading it monthly on my tablet and buying the hardcovers when they come out. So I have literally read the series in every format it's on at some point. :p
Hardcover Carrero I need to break my piggy bank for this book then!

I love this story and cannot wait to see where it goes. But I got a bit sad with Alana's actions when she was that superhero thing on T.V. Hopefully everything gets better.
Wow! Ok, this book will go straight into my wishlist.😄
glued binding you said? mine came with a sewn binding :) a pretty perfect book for a perfect story
Yeah that was my fault lol. I'm terrible with judging the binding. It's seen. Sorry :p
Sewn*
Judging only on the story itself and nothing else, what do you think is better, (Y The Last Man) or (SAGA)?
Hey mate, how do you film your channel? Would the camera on a MacBook Pro do a good job as I'd like to start my own channel myself related to graphic novels. All the best, I love what you do, from Batman.
Just try and make sure it doesn't say sh it... in the top left like this.
ha ha, I would have never noticed that. I wonder if that's intentional.

+Cersei Lannister seriously!
You only save like 10$ if you go TPB on 1st volume. And then 5$ on 2nd one. Remember that for Saga 1 HC = 3 TPB.
Which volumes are included?
+Daniel Fernandez volumes 1-5
+NBANBA1000000 Thank you!
+Daniel Fernandez It's actually volumes 1-3.
