I'm not shooting for anything so much and it depends on style. The legal limit here is 102 DBA averaged over 15 minutes. That's pretty damn loud though. I guess if I can keep the loud shows below 98 then I'm happy with that. It's a good question. I'd love to hear what other people are aiming for.
@@OffshoreAudio FOH engineer at a dance theater here: We often sit around 91dB or 93dB at LAeq15. These shows of different ballets tend to have long silent gaps with big cinematic bursts in between, the high dynamic range gives a very different reading from your standard band or dj playing for an hour straight.
