He was so excited to get to do his job in a distracting environment! I believe he's well on his way to become a perfect cardiac alert service doggie 🐕🦺 ❤
i can’t imagine how intimidating or stressful these situations can be for both of u. ik it doesn’t mean much but i’m so proud of u for being so strong and taking initiative for your health
Dogs are amazing. My grandma had a Brittany named Lucy . I had been having blackout spells where I’d all of a sudden hit the ground. Lucy was never trained. She loved laying on the couch taking naps more than anything, but she became my girl when she refused to leave me alone. She was jumping on me and nipping at my sleeve. When I went to bend down and see what she needed the spell hit and she pushed me against the wall before I hit the floor. After that I went everywhere with her and she kept me safe many times. I was her girl and she was mine. We finally lost her to cancer just a few months after we lost my oma. Never gonna find another like her.
I've got a Kelpie named Feyre, does the same stuff for my mom. She's got blood pressure issues of some kind, and anytime my dog is over at her house and my mom's about to pass out or get dizzy and stuff, Feyre will literally drag her to the nearest couch. She's an amazing dog, too smart for her own good sometimes though 😂😂 we all love her though
Sorry for the loss of both your girl and your oma. I hope that one day you'll find a pupper who was send to you by your old girl, who can continue to help you out
@@emmaleedewittit’s so beautiful to know that they trust their instincts and love us as their pack unconditionally 😭 Not a dog story, but my husband’s cat actually saved him from a stroke when he was 25. One day (before I even knew him at the time) my husband woke up just absolutely raging and fell back onto the bed. His cat crawled directly onto his chest and laid there, which is HIGHLY unusual for him. When hubs came to he felt funny and went on, eventually going to the doctor because he was having some problems. When they checked him they were surprised that he hadn’t just had a stroke. He told them the story and essentially it’s assumed that the weight of his cat laying on his chest decreased his blood pressure (cat is about 15-20lbs) and prevented him from going into full stroke. He is an absolutely wonderful cat, couldn’t ask for a better boi 🥰 I thank him all the time for what he did, or I never would’ve met my other half ❤️
I love seeing his tail away and how happy he is to do his job It drives me insane when people say that service dogs are abused because we give them a job to do or when work. Dogs and farm dogs are apparently abused because they work 16 plus hours a day. People don't understand that dogs aren't humans. They thrive on tasks and they thrive on having jobs and live a better and happier and longer life❤❤❤ many blessings to you and your new cider service dog in training. I look forward to seeing your journey continue with him
It's funny because humans are generally happier when they have something to do as well. Imagine living with no job (paid or voluntary), no hobbies (including reading a book or watching series), no sports other than a daily walk outside. Just eating, pooping, sleeping. I'd probably die of boredom.
I've never met a dog named Cider, what an adorable name. He's doing a great job! You're such a good trainer and gently commanding, it's such a pleasant thing to see!
Ich bin so beeindruckt, was für eine tolle Arbeit Dein Hund macht ❤ es kostet sicher eine Menge Zeit und Energie einen Hund so zu trainieren! Respekt an Euch beide ! Ich wünsche Dir das Allerbeste ! ❤

I think he's well on his way to becoming a good service dog for you seems very into learning tricks he needs to do to help u he's a handsome good boy 💙🐾good job buddy
This is actually so good to know, I've worked jobs where we can't let dogs in or someone/I would be confused why you'd suddenly be sitting down on the floor with your dog. I also didn't know you're not supposed to pet any dog without asking since I've always been a huge animal lover, so that's also really good to know that I could be distracting a dog on the clock or that some dogs might react differently. One more question tho; if I ever do see someone sitting on the floor with a service dog, is it okay to approach to ask if there's anything you can do to help, bring any water or a soda for some sugar? Or would that also be too distracting/make it more uncomfortable for you/the patient?
I have a family member that's really bad diabetic and has a dog it is ok to only interact with the person just act like that dog is a piece of medical equipment don't interact with the dog unless it's trying to get your attention to help at that point call 911
I am training my own service dog as well because my current is going to retire. I was just wondering if you could maybe make a video where you explain how you trained him to focus so well I really need some help with that part. Thanks for consideration! 😊
@@prinzessinvivien3554 ty it's just a kid who shows interest is what I care about but sometimes if she's alerted me 2-3 times I'll say "sorry she on the service dog job"
Actually, this is a really good thing to show, for a lot of reasons. I didn’t realize how these kinds of dogs “alert”, if I’d seen that I would have thought it was an uncontrolled non-alert dog that some Karen had gotten a vest off the internet so she can take her pet wherever she wants.
I can tell it is hard to tell like a 7 year old kid to not touch him some kids have issues with touching whatever they want so I can tell it gets a little hard when a kid just randomly touches a service dog in training that’s a good lesson to teach your kids to always ask before touching a dog😊
How do you avoid him alerting just for treats or attention? I guess in some cases people aren't able to tell if the episode is going to happen, so you can just trust the dog. But how do you adress "false" alarms while the dog is still in training? :D
I mean oftentimes people wear a heart rate detection device and then check wether the alert is real. Here she wasn‘t teaching him alert but more response. Meaning that he learns to do DPT when she is on the ground. :]
@@Cloud-ud1lh Yeah of course. It was just the first part of the video with alert and many other shorts I saw that made me think about that :D Thanks a lot for the answer! It seems kinda obvious now you mentioned it 😅
I love your videos because they've taught me about service dogs! I have a question though, what happens if you faint? What does the service dog do? Sorry if thats a personal question
I’m training him to do as my current service dog Jake does and that is, when I’m safe to get up again he will get off of me and stop doing DPT. Cider is not trained for that yet but we are working on it!
It’s truly amazing how dogs can sense this kind of stuff. I also wonder why there are only specific dog breeds that can only do this kind of stuff? And also does your service dog like help you calm down and stuff or how does your dog help you when you get in a situation just like this? Sorry if I seemed kinda rude it wasn’t my intention to seem like it.
No he will not. Service dogs CAN NOT be trained in protection work and are NOT allowed to be aggressive in any way. If a service dog is trained for bite work or protection that takes away their ADA protections and they can not go with the handler into public stores. And they have to be labeled as a 'bite or protection dog'.

Good afternoon, I have a question: I'm not sure if I've asked on a different video. I hope it's not offensive: when your dog alerts you and you have to sit down, would it be ideal if someone was around or with you in case you pass out to keep eye on you? 2. Does the dog know ok it's ben 10min mom is not up. I need to go find help?
Hey! I’m very uneducated in service animals but I know you can’t pet them without consent or if they’re working! A teacher at my old school was deaf and had a service dog for herself. But I wanted to ask; what is deep pressure therapy? I’m scrolling through your shorts and I find them really cool! But it’d be even better if you could educate me more on the service animal subject. Thank you for reading ☺️
I’m not 100% but I believe deep pressure therapy does two things. One, it presses on the body and raises the blood pressure (sudden drops cause fainting spells) and gets more blood to the brain. Second, regulates the vagus nerve similarly to a weighted blanket and helps the body begin to self regulate again
@@bluebirbas Thanks a million for explaining. I had a feeling it was due to their powerful sense of smell. It must be so reassuring to have your own medic by your side 24/7. Love the videos.

How a dog can monitor heart rate absolutely baffles me. Then again, how an airline expects that much dog to fit in the footspace of a seat...
They can smell her heart's chemicals as her heart rate changes. On the other one, baffles me too

If you don’t mind me asking, how did you train him to alert you when your heart rate spikes? How did you form that association?
Since when is he so big! 😮
I wonder if he’ll protect her from danger like a person that might try and hurt her will he attack or bite???? ❤
What is deep pressure therapy?
On a different note, what a good puppy! I can’t believe how much dogs can help people. It really is awe-inspiring!
Deep pressure therapy is where the dog lays on your legs to help lower your heart rate
Over that leash where did you get it? It could help me with my training!
and this is why you don't distract a service dog. You could cost the owner their life.

Genuine question. How does he know your heart rate is spiking. I have cardiac issues myself and often I'm not aware of them happening
When our heart rate changes, our hearts release chemicals. Dogs can smell that change because their sense of smell is so strong
