I'm with you on the tablet and Alexa thing. With the ring doorbell, if your front foor is secluded I would think it is more cause to have a ring doorbell for added security. Re a thermos/insulated drink cup, they also work to keep things cold, and I couldn't be without mine, especially in this crazy 30+° weather (I'm not made for heat 🥵🥵)

I hear you … LEGO drove me crazy too. Especially as my son would build these crazy large and expensive set and then I would blink and it would be dismantled and he’d be building something else with the bricks 🤣. We embraced this in the end and encouraged his creativity. He’s now an architect 😆and yes he still loves LEGO!!!!

My son keeps all his Lego kits. Belongs to the Lego VIP group so he gets a hefty discount off the annual christmas big sets. He blames me for his obsession as I bought him his first set for his fifth birthday and he had Lego for every christmas since...he is now fifty! he has also applied for times for a designer job, got an interview once. Each year visits one of the world wide Lego lands including a regular homage to the place of origin....yes, he is that obsessed!!

That’s amazing! I’m hoping my eldest will be an engineer/ architect etc for the hell he’s put me through with Lego 😂

We should take the credit for their careers because it all started with our buying the first Lego kit!

Love the bins in the kids room, those are really nifty! Have to say ditto to the kettle, someone once asked me what we drink when we get up and I replied we don't necessarily wake up thirsty. LOL We don't own a lot of extra kitchen stuff, we are vegetarian -40 plus years now and healthy but no not vegan. We don't have a lot of bathroom items or cosmetics-soap and water goes far. We don't have any electronics except an old laptop and old phone. We live in a 70 year old mobile home/trailer that is 460 sq ft so no room for fluff making it easy to stay frugal. Love your channel.

My son is 50......still Lego obsessed, so much so he built an extension onto his house as an office but fitted with shelves on three walls to contain all.his Lego builds. These builds get bigger and bigger each year. He has just completed the Avenger tower.

I do own a kettle, microwave and instant pot (very useful for quick cooking of chickpeas and the like), but not tablets, smart watches, games consoles, Alexa or a ring doorbell or other smart appliances. I don't bother with things like hair products beyond shampoo and conditioner and a hair drier that is usually used more for craft projects. No fabric conditioner here either, being an old cynic, I see that as just marketing. I have a non-stick frying pan, but that came from my grandmother over 30 years ago and is still going. For air freshener, open a window! I do own a good sewing machine, but that fits with what I need for things like suddenly running up half a dozen angel costumes for church or making memory quilts.
This year, I am trying to get around to selling all the tat that I don't really need. There's too much stuff here!

How on earth did the non-stick come off the pan? 🤔 My mum has had her NS pans for years without any issues
Strictly speaking, all essential oils are bad, regardless of the price point

I don’t have a microwave as our old one went wrong and made us all feel weird one day so we threw it out and never replaced it, my (grown up) kids say it’s annoying sometimes but we also only use an oven or hob for reheating…
Minimalism is something I’ve only just encountered and I love the idea so much, my house is definitely in need of a good declutter, I do have a question, with regards to home ed, what do you do with the school work once done? I don’t want to upset my younger children by throwing away their efforts but there is very little storage in this house… thanks for your content though, I’m loving learning all about how to live frugally and would love more on minimalism too x

So regards to their book work. I keep the essentials (maths/English) for a year just incase the LA ask to see what we have been doing but after that I recycle it. The boys both have a folder of their creations/things they want to keep and it’s up to them to manage that. If they can’t fit any more in then they need to go through it and decide what they want to keep and what they want to recycle. That seems to work well for us so far.
Thanks sooo much for watching and for the love! 💛

We don’t own a bathroom bin anymore which people always find strange, but since moving to reusable period products, cloth wipes and using mostly recyclable or zero waste bathroom items just had no need for it!

But what if guests need to put something in the bin? I remember as a student, some flats of male friends would not have a bin anywhere near the bathroom, and you'd have to smuggle your stuff out to see if you can throw it away somewhere else in the house or in the container outside.

@@eleo_bhonestly we don’t really have many guests over in our house so it’s not really an issue for us, if we did have more people I’d probably then own one that could be multi purposed for another room too but at this point in our lives isn’t something we need 😂

Yes! I use all reusable period products! Love it.
