    Did you happen to notice if there was an appreciable height difference in your front suspension due to the reduced amount of weight?

    • @FROSTBITEOFFROAD
      @FROSTBITEOFFROAD  2 года назад +1

      I didn’t measure but I’d say it was at least a quarter inch, you can definitely feel the difference when driving it now. I’m really happy with it so far!

    All that weight saved and clearance gained can’t be beat!

    Check out the MORE aluminum skid plate replacement. It would compliment the NV bumper nicely

    Just installed mine on the JK about 2 days ago. I also had to make similar modifications as well. The winch plate is slightly different between the JK and JL. But also had to trim an 1/8 off the outer frame horns and winch plate for an easier fit. But since I have been waiting since October 2021 I wasn't going to fuss about that and have to wait longer. Had to soda blast the aluminum then buff out to even out some blemishes. But was kinda expecting that. Then used sharkhide. Also powder coated the winch plate. Love it. They are really great people to work with and have ordered the rear bumper already.

      That’s cool Mike, I’d like to do their rear bumper down the road. I ended up using a buffer and some Chemical Guys metal polish to clean mine up, I did the Sharkhide clear coat as well per Dan’s recommendation and I’m glad I did! I feel like the couple minor alterations were not worth making a big deal about and it seems like they have already improved the design 👍

    I'm struggling to install this. . ... Can I tighten all 10 bolts (8 on front, 2 on side) from the steel plate to the jeep first, or do some of them use the aluminum cover, steel plate, and jeep frame ?

    • @FROSTBITEOFFROAD
      @FROSTBITEOFFROAD  2 года назад

      If you look at the back of the aluminum bumper you’ll see the three holes that share a bolt with the winch plate. It was the outside lower bolt that could be bolted to the Jeep and winch plate first. Then you can bolt the bumper cover to the Jeep, let me know if you have any more questions.

    Just bought this bumper. What tools would you recommend I have on hand to make the install the least time consuming and easy?

    • @FROSTBITEOFFROAD
      @FROSTBITEOFFROAD  Год назад

      Cool you’ll love the look of it on the Jeep! I’d just make sure you have all the sockets necessary to do the install and a torque wrench. If you’re going to leave it raw aluminum I’d definitely recommend that Sharkhide stuff to protect it. You’ll need to paint the winch tray as well, hopefully you get a newer version that has the keyed holes to aid the installation. I did have to grind a little on the frame horns so having a grinder is probably a good idea. Good luck on the install and let me know if you have any questions, thanks for watching!

      It’s still holding up great, I haven’t had to re-coat it at all. You’ll like your new bumper, I still get lots of compliments on it. Thanks for watching James!

      @FROSTBITEOFFROAD thanks a bunch for your speedy reply. Will have mine on order this week. Just going back and forth on whether to paint to match or leave bare aluminum. Cheers

    Hi there,
    Just waiting on delivery for this bumper.
    I too have the Warn VR 10S winch.
    Were my eyes deceiving me or were you able to route all the cables coming out from the winch pack under the grille?
    Looked very clean, just want to confirm with you.

    • @FROSTBITEOFFROAD
      @FROSTBITEOFFROAD  2 года назад

      Hey man, yeah I ran them along the grill and up underneath it on the passenger side by the frame rail. It then goes up underneath the intake and around the battery, I do like how clean the entire setup turned out. Let me know if you have any more questions, thanks for watching Jack!

    For a bolt on you sure had to do a good amount of cutting.
    Not sure what you paid but I'm sure wasn't cheap.
    You shouldn't have to do that much cutting and grinding.

    • @FROSTBITEOFFROAD
      @FROSTBITEOFFROAD  2 года назад

      Yeah that’s why I reached out to them to go over my install. I didn’t have instructions when I installed it so I did it the same as my previous bumper. They were very good at getting back to me and showed me that they redesigned the mounting holes on all the bumpers going forward. The grinding I did at the frame isn’t necessary if you mount the winch plate and bumper together off the Jeep. I couldn’t do it that way on my old bumper due to grill clearance with the winch, so I just installed it the same. It really was only a couple minutes of extra work and everything is good to go. Hope this clears it up a little, thanks for watching!

      @@FROSTBITEOFFROAD
      I think the bumper looks good I wouldn't buy it because as a company I they don't impress me. They should have offered to send you the new version
      I wouldn't have been as nice as you if you will.
      The minute I would have realized I would have cut and grind it would have gone back on their nickel.
      Like I would have regained respect for the company has you said they offered to send me the new version but I turned it down but given you didn't mention that in the video I'm guessing they didn't.

    • @FROSTBITEOFFROAD

      @@stanleyfurash7929 I really didn’t see it that way, they were great to deal with and their willingness to improve a design to make it better is nice. I had already clear coated my bumper and didn’t even consider sending it back. I’ve installed a few things from other companies over the years that require slight changes to make them work so it wasn’t a big deal for me, I do see where you’re coming from and I think the new mounting design will fix any concerns about fitment.

    • @stanleyfurash7929
      @stanleyfurash7929 2 года назад +1

      @@FROSTBITEOFFROAD I agree that they improved it and that's good, I just think they should have made the offer even though you would have turned them down expecially considering the new design probably came out as they shipped you the old.

    • @FROSTBITEOFFROAD
      @FROSTBITEOFFROAD  2 года назад

      @@stanleyfurash7929 yeah I agree it would have been a nice gesture, I would have turned it down because it’s installed and I’m happy with it. From what I gathered from our talk about the install it was something they just changed so not an issue for anyone looking to get this bumper in the future.

  • @ron8975

    WOW, $900 for a bumper that req'd that much work to fit. Seems a bit much.
    I was trying to figure out the 14mm bolt statement. There's nothing that big on the front of a JL. Even the wheel studs are only 12mm....
    I then looked closer and realized that all the hardware is SAE not Metric. So, turns out it's a 3/8 bolt with a 9/16 head. 9/16 and 14mm are pretty close but it's still not a 14mm bolt.

    • @FROSTBITEOFFROAD
      @FROSTBITEOFFROAD  2 года назад

      They did redesign the mounting holes so shouldn’t be a problem going forward, I was referring to the socket size needed to tighten the bolt. Thanks for watching!

      @FROSTBITEOFFROAD  Год назад

      Yeah I love the way it looks, I spoke with one of the owners and they said they were fixing some of those issues. I don’t mind a little grinding to gain the tire clearance. Thanks for watching!

  • @fletcherbrown728

    Seriously. Can't vendors actually try and install themselves and not have the customer find all the fitment problems and, cut, grind, cut, grind to get things to fit? No thanks, Venture Motorsports,

    • @FROSTBITEOFFROAD
      @FROSTBITEOFFROAD  8 месяцев назад

      Yeah, I definitely reached out to them after the install. The owner did address my concerns and it actually led to a product change which is good. The newer version of the bumper now has keyhole slots for the bolts, making installation a lot easier. As for the grinding, I have seen other narrow bumpers that require the same trim to get a snug fit so not a deal breaker for me. It is a great looking bumper and I still get compliments on it so to me it was worth the install time and I only had to put it on once. Thanks for watching the video!
