Literally same here, this generation of DBZ games I just didn’t feel like I HAD to play because of how satisfied I was from previous(PS2 ERA)albeit I didn’t know how to explain it at the time (I was like 12-14)

Yes, these games weren't necessarily made for those of us who bought Budokai 1 on release and every single Dragon Ball game every year thereafter. Ultimate Tenkaichi was the first year I didn't pick up the yearly release, which coincided with my burnout of the franchise. By then I was looong tired of type "Raditz to Buu" fare. I guess it didn't stop me from picking back up two years later with Battle of Z and continuing from there. Shameless fanboy? You bet.

1:43 another cool detail about the menu that I hadn't noticed until seeing it again in this video (since I wasn't a Dragon Ball lore buff as a kid) is that the menu is modeled 1:1 with how Universe 7 is drawn by Akira Toriyama, with all the rotating game modes and stuff acting in the same way the Realm of the Kais does in the actual OG map by Toriyama. Smaller spheres rhat rotate around the bigger one.

I hope for the new BT4 game, they incorporate mechanics from both games. Each game has their strengths and flaws.
•RB has the super attack deflect mechanic. But Rhyme points out that it’s broken. It should require a ki bar or 2 to deflect and hurt the player depending on a super or ultimate.
•I don’t like how in BT, everyone has the same string of combos. You perform virtually the same combo with any character and that’s pretty stale. RB2, everyone has a unique chain of inputs for a combo for every character, they need to implement that.
•RB also implemented the small vanish when you press R1+X (or RT+A). That mechanic makes it easier to dodge incoming dash attacks, your opponent’s charged melee attack or anything else you manage to time correctly. I hope they bring that back as well.
•BT balanced the Ki guage and blue bar. Like moves where you power up or instant transmission or paralysis, it required 2 or 3 of the W bar. I don’t like that in RB, EVERY MOVE uses the ki bar. Even though I love charging ki to get a wild sense off or even an instant transmission off, I can see how spammy those moves get, especially moves like solar flare.
•Make all the super attacks on the right stick and ultimate when you click R3. Also transformations, RB gets it right so you don’t accidently do a super when you want to ultimate or transform except you go back to base or transform into the wrong transformation.
•Burst mode! In BT, when you go into burst, you have a second of invincibility frames. In RB, you don’t so it leaves you open for a super attack if you fully charge. In RB2, you would have to enter Raging mode just so you can dodge or deflect the cheap shot super/ultimate attack lmao.
•RB1 had a fun way to customize characters, I thought it was cool but I like the simplicity of RB2 and BT3.
•Custom accessories like the halo, different auras for charging, sturdy scouters, lightning aura. Bring that back as well!! I would always change SSJ3 Goku’s aura to LSSJ Broly haha.
•Character dialogue during fights. I love that in RB2, characters talk to each other. Like if you put Cooler to fight Goku, they talk as you fight.
•This is a mechanic Tenkaichi Tag Team brought but pleasssssse bring back sensu beans. I enjoy having mini boss fights or longer fights. I would always pair Goku and Vegeta vs Broly but I would handicap myself by bringing 1 sensu and the opponent 4.
•Obviously story mode but everything should be put, from the original saga to Super.
•RB also introduced a mechanic when chaining combos. A little lighting bolt flashes the screen with a specific noise, yellow when you properly chain a combo, red for when you flop. It was a good indicator letting you know that you’re chaining a combo correctly or not.
•RB also lets you change your supers so they should bring that back while also letting you know which moves cost ki or the blue bar.
•Last thing for now, Tag Team mode 😭 I doubt they will but what I loved about Tag Team is that you don’t HAVE to do 2v2. The game plays perfectly fine, like a normal BT game when you do 1v1.
Thanks for reading all this crap lmao but yeah, I subbed and am looking forward to more videos :)

Hey Hidden, thought I'd leave a comment in regards to the "Ascended Super Saiyan" vs "Super Vegeta" name issue that got you confused.
The short of it is, Ascended Super Saiyan is technically a fan-term used for the form, which is officially known as "Super Saiyan Second Grade" or "Super Saiyan Grade 2". "Super Vegeta" is the nickname Vegeta gives himself while in the form, which is why that's used as the name for the form in games, similar to how the official name for Super Trunks would be "Super Saiyan Third Grade", but it's just easier to name the form Super Trunks in games.

I love Raging Blast 2 so much. If it only had the story mode, and just a few more of the freak picks from Tenkaichi 3 and some of the costumes, it would’ve been perfect for me. Loved the details in pregame dialogue. For example: Goku might have the same line while fighting Piccolo whether you go in as base or any of his other transformations. BUT he will say it a little differently based on the form. This is not a game I would play competitively, but solo I’ve had immense fun. The Tenkaichi games and Raging Blast have always been action figure simulators for me. It’s not about being an in-depth REAL fighting game, it’s about recapturing that feeling of taking your action figures and recreating fights from the show making up dream battles you always had in your head. And the dialogue helps with that. I wish there was a way to play Ragin Blast 2 again. My Xbox 360 is kaput. It gave us the what-if forms of Broly and Vegeta going SSJ3, if we got a third game that went further with more what ifs….man. Screw Ultimate Tenkaichi. Forever.

This first time I saw the gameplay to Raging Blast on a commercial, I was blown away. I could've sworn it was a PS2 game at first glance since the gameplay ran at whopping 60fps, instead of that boring 30 like how Tenkaichi games 1-3 did, but when I noticed the high quality graphics, especially with the stages, I thought to myself "ain't no way in hell that this could run well on a PS2." When I played the game's demo on Xbox 360(and this was LONG before my family even got a console that allowed us to play the full game), I was having flashbacks to when I played the original Budokai trilogy and the Tenkaichi trilogy on PS2. That said, it felt like Raging Blast took the gameplay of Tenkaichi and cranked it way past eleven. If anything, this was how I wished Tenkaichi would played frame rate-wise, because you've no clue at all of how disgusted I was seeing Tenkaichi running a 30fps instead of 60 like how the original Budokai games did. When Raging Blast 1 and 2 brought back the 60fps, I couldn't have been any more happier. I found myself enjoying this and Raging Blast a hell of a lot more than I did with any if the Tenkaichi games.

One problem that’s been consistent with Anime games are the constant repetition of the story. Every game makes you play through the same events over and over again leading to fatigue.
I’d much rather the games have more creative freedom with “What if’s” and even customs characters in events. I’m personally not familiar with the Xeno games, but I know they attempted to change that up a bit.
It’s the same problem I’ve had with the Naruto Ninja Storm series. The only thing that really was the saving grace were the QTEs that expanded on what happened in the anime or even manga. I just wish the games would let you be more open and create your own character and run around the world. The Kakrot game seemed pretty cool but bland at times with its open world

The FUNimation dub called Super Vegeta's form Ascended Super Saiyan. They also called Super Saiyan 2 Ascended as well. So it confused many fans who only watched the dub. The Japanese version didn't have a proper name for it until the guidebooks. It's officially called Super Saiyan Grade 2 and the form Trunks used against Cell was Grade 3.

I'm glad you gave this game a shot, even if you were neutral on it. I think you'll enjoy Raging Blast 2 more though since it fixes most of 1's gameplay and structure issues

I agree that RB can be pretty clunky at times, but you get nigh undefeatable if you learn how to reaction dodge, link attacks together, and knock people out of super attacks. Not to mention how powerful the decks make you.
Also, sense I haven't seen anyone else mention this, the training battle between Piccolo and Gohan during the Saiyan Saga has a misson requirement of dodging all of Piccolo's attacks. Whether intential or not, there's a "DOOOOOODDDGGEE!!!" joke in this game.

Yeah this was my first dragon ball game has a very special place in my heart, I also remember playing ultimate tenkaichi 🤢🤢 but I loved the what if scenarios it was so cool to see ss3 vegeta and broly. Got to say though the game still looks great even for today standards

Hey hidden, this is going to be my pre-watch comment. Although the raising blast series had objectively better graphics, and better animation, I didn't like how they slowed down the pace. That's why I feel that the Budokai Tenkaichi series is superior.

Really hope with the future of dbz games I hope they expand and keep the What IF sagas. There were so cool when playing for the first time. It would be really cool to see a What IF saga with super Saiyan 4 Goku Vs a Supur Saiyan 4 Broly. That would be insane.

    This was literally Tenkaichi 4.
I don't know why Tenkaichi 4 got me excited, or everyone else excited.
I hope they do a Budokai 4, that sounds like a lot more fun.

Infinite World could basically be Budokai 4 with the gameplay improvements and the bigger roster it had compared to Budokai 3

Oh Raging blast. I remember this game. It's been a long time since I play this one. But I don't have it anymore.. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy some things in this game, but it wasn't for me. And since I didn't enjoy this one much, I had no interest of picking up the sequel Raging blast 2, back in the day. However, there some things I like about this game. I like the what-if scenarios (although I prefer Tenkaichi 2's more). The tag team special attacks. The graphics, which still looks great today. The customization of your characters and that soundtrack. My goodness. When I first booted up the story mode and heard that song, (Tracking Dragon Ball). I absolutely fell in love with that theme. I can listen it for hours.. The issue I had with this game (aside from the awful camera) is mostly the gameplay. I think it's good, but I had way more fun with Budokai and the Budokai Tenkaichi series over this one. And I can also agree with the missions being added the story mode after clearing them was kinda dumb. I was not a fan of this being added to the game.. Any way solid review! Also what was that at 22:50? lol! Was that your dog or a cat?
