They've been selling off Denny O'Neil's collection since he died and he had a lot of bound volumes.

Yes, I have seen a volume or two online. Pretty impressive the books he had. I do wonder who bought them. I have been to some pretty big cons and none of the bigger dealers bought any of them. Best/Steve

I've contemplated getting stuff bound but hadn't taken the plunge. Atari Force, Micronauts, ROM, and other stuff I know won't be reprinted

Yes, those are excellent series to get bound. ROM is on my list too. I got the whole run of Atari Force bound in just one volume. Best/Steve

Thanks for the video on Binding. For my binding books I print out a custom title page and cut it with scissors to match the width of the comic pages. (walt disney comics and stories, fantastic four, house of Mystery, Monsters on the Prowl, Scamp-GoldKey, Woody Woodpecker) stuff like that. I will hopefully be doing Superboy and the Legion of SuperHeroes, and some Copper age Hulk in the near future.

Love Mike Zeck's art. He draws the best punisher....in my opinion.

Agreed. He is THE Punisher artist. I also like his really early art for Charlton. You saw in his art what was coming as far as his style and technique. Best/Steve

😺👍First, a shout out to Clementine, Steve! Joe.Palooka and Smilin'Jack 🤗, this comic strip fan supports your kick! California Digital Newspaper Collection , a free website, is the place to go to read those comic strips and believe me once you start reading daily storylines you won't want to stop! Click Browse By Date and scroll in 1950. The Petaluma Argus Courier has Joe Palooka , Mickey Finn, Dickie Dare and Neighborly Neighbors (a single paneler), all of them great reads. The Desert Sun by the 1950s also has JP among other goodness. For Smilin' Jack, The San Bernardino Sun is the paper. 😎👍Ramona Fradon , Dale Messick chose the perfect successor for her great Brenda Starr feature. You named the characters she has left her indelible mark on. Her Aquaman remains my favorite and Metamorpho , hers and hers alone IMO! Super Team Family , also still have my spinner rack copy!

Thank you for the Clementine shout out. Shes a sweet girl. THANK YOU so much for the heads up on those newspaper strips. I cant wait to spend a day or two reading and getting my feet wet with those online publication of yesteryear. It ages so well like Old Time Radio, which I'm a big fan. I got into Smilin' Jack and Joe Palooka from the comic books, which I assume were reprints of the strips. I got them in AOK form Jesse Lynch. Such great stuff. Yes, Ramona Fradon is a national treasure. Love her style and the wonderful comics she has given us.
Thank you for the wonderful comment as always and your recommendations on the comic strips. Take care and stay well. As they used to say, see you in the funny papers. Best/Steve

@@charlton6674 🤓A lullaby to my ears , Steve : " See you in the funny papers."! Also wanted to give you heads up on a few other papers on the California site. Feb 1950- July 1950 The Blade Tribune has Tarzan ( great Nick Cardy work) and Curley Kayo , a Joe Palooka contemporary with an interesting history. In 1959 The La Habra Star added a comic strip section: Peanuts , Superman and Red Ryder the paper printed 3 dailies of each strip every issue. In 1960-61 Red Ryder was replaced by Dick Brooks The Jackson Twins ( another personal favorite). In 1962-63 the paper added more strips giving each one two dailies per issue , sometimes on the same page or on another one. Bullwinkle by Al Kilgore and Gordo by Gus Arriola were among them. I mention Gordo for any Love and Rockets fans because this strip definitely is an inspiration for the Hernandez Bros , whose Oxnard local paper carried the strip, I checked on another archive site. The Madera Tribune also did a 2 daily for each strip. Most if not all of the comic book adaptations were reprints of dailies and Sundays. 🤓👍Comic strips , my friend , my first love! See you and sweet Clementine in the funny papers.
