I could understand 15 a month for unlimited audiobook access but for only one book a month thats a complete rip off and not worth it. They really need to improve their subcription model and it should also be included into a prime membership.

i mean, you buy the books, so if you cancel, they stay with you. Also, technically they give you 3 books, cause of the list that they limit of which you can choose for each month, not the best, but it is there.
Books cost around 15 - 20 euros where i live, so an audio book for 15 plus 2 audible originals is a pretty okay deal. And you can get 3 months for around 7dollars/month when you first sign up, and i think thats a great deal.
depends on people. I tried to use Scribd who gives you unlimited access to books. though unlike audible if you cancel you no longer own the books. and after 3 months I had only listened to one book(it was a long one though) I had a 3 months free trial. but imagine if I had paid the 8 dollars per month to listen to one book.
@@josefineandersen2165 I bought a lot of books when I had a subscription, only listened to about quarter to half of it. I don't have a subscription anymore but I'm still listening to the books I purchased. It's not that bad.

if you want to escape the conversion charges you can put a card issued by a US bank if its possible, as the conversion charge is charged by the bank.

If you’re in the US, county libraries have a free audio book app with thousands of free audio books, including top rated books. You don’t need Audible.

OverDrive app, it is free with your library card
Check with your local library if they have online audiobooks. My library for example has a deal with Biblio, and after signing in with your library membership number and pin code, you can access the audiobooks for free.
RUclips has a lot of audiobooks too, but it's a hassle to get it working well. If you can afford it, it can be worth spending money to the same book through Audible or something similar instead.
