Imagine having one of the most expensive shows in recent time bomb into oblivion, and then blame the people who didn't like it for its cancellation and not the billion dollar company. SMH Disney SW fans.
It reminds me of that old Disney show Liv and Maddie which also had the same actress playing twins, even they at least bothered to do that. They even added glasses to one twin to make them look even more different. To think that a decade old show like that would put more thought into differentiating their two lead characters than this is insane.
@@ZonaiHero-ul5nmthey also paid two child actors to play the sisters, which is cheaper than paying 1 actress to play 2 roles. No clue where the money went with all these cut costs everywhere. Edit: I’m assuming child labor is cheap compared to full price actors.

I like that you compare Sol and Qui gon in detail. Another thing that makes Qui gons direction better than Sol's is that Qui gon is more calm friendly, hands off, and doesn't convince Anakin to be a Jedi. Qui gon tells him he has potential, but also tells him what he will have to sacrifice and struggle with. While Sol is portrayed as trying to get Occupational Safety and Health Administration more interested in the Jedi life and acting very amazed and fixated on her. Speaking of kids, I don't mind children in movies/games acting like kids, bcoz what we feel is annoying *is* only annoying bcoz they're a character we need to care about. We star wars fans are spoiled by the Anakins and Katas in our media, who are shockingly calm, friendly, and/or talented for a child their age. In something like Detroit: Become Human (game) where the girl is basically a damsel getting dragged around by her guardian doing nothing is likely the most real depiction of a child in any circumstance. While Kata (Jedi Survivor) is shockingly collected and friendly, and takes loss very well compared to a normal child. Or Cal (Jedi Fallen Order) is very wise for a 17/18 year old. (Sorry to talk about those games so much. Its star wars, so relevant to the conversation).
I think Sol makes enough sense: he feels extremely guilty about killing OSHA's entire family and he kinda needs her to turn out okay in order for him to feel redeemed. He also needs a sense of purpose and thinks The Force's purpose for him is to find these kids and train them. It make sense why he'd be fixated on her, he wants redemption for his mistake and a conclusion to his purpose. Dying at the end actually gives him both of those. Qui Gon is a weird character, he's presented as being very calm and rational but also rebellious and impulsive, happy to fight and defy the council in order to follow his feelings. It feels like George accidentally wrote two different characters (the authoritative stoic and the freethinking rebel) and roughly mashed them together. His fixation on Anakin really comes out of nowhere, Anakin has no influence on the story of Phantom Menace and only exists to setup the next two films: it's really jarring how he's just shoved in there and keeps distracting Qui Gon from the actual story. When he dies at the end it's because of the actual story (the Sith conspiracy and the occupation of Naboo) and Anakin just turns into an obligation that Obi Wan has to deal with. The Acolyte was stupid, but it wasn't Phantom Menace levels of stupid.
@peacemaster8117 And yet Sol was used as Leslie's vent of her daddy issue, so it's not a good look for that character and the show. Remember, it was made from The High Republic. Also, Kennedyfilm's Star Wars is not Star Wars anymore, enough said.
@@peacemaster8117 I just want to say two things. On the topic of Sol, he seemed fixated on Osha before the whole killing her family thing. Of the four Jedi sent to Brendok, he cared the most. There may be a reason for that difference (besides that's just how he is), but we don't know. Additionally, I do think in general it's possible to rebel and still be wise. You just have to hold tight to your beliefs, not waver, and choose your battles and your manner of fighting. Qui Gon seemed to be that type of Jedi. Personally, I'd say Quinlan Vos is more impulsive.
The nonsense defense of "I was going to let Osha go" when you can observe her Thanos snapping Mae is just absurd. The action she took warranted a response from Sol.
I hate that this show made me have to accept that The Last Jedi is a better and somehow more enjoyable piece of media which is a position I never thought I would be in :((((((
It's amazing how Lucasfilm still refuses to accept how divisive TLJ is, and injects all the ideas that were unpopular into Obi-Wan & The Acolyte. They are intent on burning everything down in the process of trying to validate their previous mistakes.
They were bad for a similar reason. Stories based on misunderstandings and characters acting dumb are more often comedies. Red letter media’s takedown of the last Jedi really shows this.
8:20 its interesting that Sole is the most liked character in this show but at the same time the most stupid and questionable characters in the acolyte.
More so, Sol was intended to be seen as creepy in his obsession with the two girls and treated by the show's creators as the villain that gets what he deserves at the end, as if the cultists and Mae weren't being jealous and possessive and repeatedly gave the Jedi reasons to treat them as hostiles. For a show that supposedly is about there being no heroes or villains, no objective good or bad, just different perspectives, the creators of it do pick and choose who is unredeemable while failing to truly judge everyone for their collective misdeeds and failures.

Your last insight about how Darth Plagueis' story works because it's just two lines which prompt us to respond to the context and tropes they invoke better than any individual bit of lore ever would is truly poignant. Also, the Acolyte is a disgrace.
This was so satisfying to watch, not only for the dismantling of the literary incompetence ( which other youtubers have tackled reasonably ) but for the criticism of the moral dereliction that allows for such dubious people to squander hundreds of millions of dollars, and fail at the most basic requirements of craft or professionalism, while lecturing the rest of us on a simple-minded version of progressive politics. Then whine with childish indignation when they get called out on it. I don't mind fanfiction. As you said, there are fanfictions written far better than The Acolyte. And an exploration of moral ambiguity is not verboten - the Jedi might not be the flawless paragons of justice idealistic younglings believe, while the Sith are genuinely tempting, for good reason. But that can only be borne up by solid, sophisticated writing, and still has to work within the established lore and ethos of - at least - the first three movies. Something better than posturing fanfiction is required to deserve massive corporate funding and public consumption. This adolescent effluent is simply not good enough, and people should say so, clearly and frequently. So please, enjoy a coffee, or tea, or alternative lifestyle heated intoxicant, or sea cow blue milk beverage, of your choice, on me. Let's raise a beaker, and toast the day when we can appreciate good, competent, televisual writing, and never ever again have to talk about this shit :|

Thanks for this post mortem break down. One thing that was missing in the weekly shaming was people actually pointing out how poorly conceived the story was when all the parts came together. Had they just held Auditions for two people that were handed their job ( maybe three) and written a cohesive story and abandoned the "mystery" and lore shoe horning, this could have been a passably good show. At the very least, boring and inoffensive like Asoka was.

Amandla thinks acting is just imagining how the character feels and staring into the middle distance.
I'd rather watch TLJ than Netflix Cuties tbh. I could probably think of a few more examples if you give me the time.
Why do you have so many mouths ?
They were bad for a similar reason. Stories based on misunderstandings and characters acting dumb are more often comedies. Red letter media’s takedown of the last Jedi really shows this.
Hell, with TLJ I can at least see where all that money went,
❤Your work is special!❤
The good kind of special.
F- ing BRILLIANT!
There's an edgy, punk energy to these videos lately, even more than usual... makes me wanna write a song called "Random Twitter Fuckwad".
Do it! I've been considering going back to dabbling in lyrics myself due to the state of things.
Someone else digs the musical interludes too eh ?
@@luvhair255 do it. What kind of music do you like to write lyrics for?
@@kurtwk well yeah, but the music isn't what I was talking about specifically. More that Nutsa's blend of irreverent humour and unbridled hostility reminds me of what I love about 70s punk and 80s hardcore.

Great work Nutsa, looking forward to your next video
6:00 fun fact the acolyte is said to had cost 230 million dollars.
I was surprised to learn from this show how flamable stones can be.
Kind'a sad and pretty funny when this video looks and sounds better AND has more entertainment value than a $280 million waste of bandwidth.
I just found your channel today and real talk youre editing style and use of sound/ music is so freaking funny XD

i am watching you through your efap connection and have been enjoying your humor, tone, and that slight, mysterious whisper of an accent you have. every once in awhile a word sounds off and i enjoy
I appreciate your analytical skill, and I like the sound of your voice
This video has so much more passion and heart put ìnto it than the Script of the Acolyte.
The first part of the video bashing disney is something that I didn't know I needed, it's not usual for you to do so in the start of videos but it was a welcome suprise
I MISS NUTSA...
she was my absolute favorite guest... On EFAP... I wish she was there more often.

Always refreshing to see a gal tear this show and Twitter apart. Smashing commentary and visuals, ma’am!

Wow. Amazing. Really enjoyed your vids. Please keep them coming if you can 👍
What's with awful Disney projects giving their bland and frustratingly dumb heroines 4 letter names that end with sha?
never seen this show but having someone named Osha is so funny. Osha... like the Occupational Safety and Health Administration? Like the thing companies aren't supposed to violate?
I don't know how to feel about the fact that you accurately referred to a Doofenschmirtz quote as a "saying" yet.
