She is proof that talented singers will give you goosebumps even after over 2 decades of hearing her sing. Alanis will always sing chills through my musical soul.
I didn’t realize how much I missed Alanis . I’m a 90’s kid born in 77 so it was “here to remind you” overload high school years. I am happy to hear her again. A fresh track from a familiar tone . I am feeling comforted by that voice.
Born in '80 myself, Jagged Little Pill was released when I was in my second year of high school. I still remember the day I brought it to school on tape 💗💗💗
I feel the same. I grew up with Alanis as well. I’ll never forget living in Ontario for several months in the mid 90s. She is woven through my college memories.
Her voice was great to begin with, there is no room for it to get better, it just is already and always, it keeps giving us gifts for many many years to come.
Once again, Alanis Morisette can describe in words, something that words cannot simply describe. Awesome. A tear trickles down my face for all who just simply need to rest, slow down, and live life the way they can best live and rest, have peace, there should be a way for that to happen in society. Thank you.
There was a difference when Alanis sang this at Lisa Marie Presley's funeral last Sunday (January 22, 2023). Alanis poured out crying and tears into it so much, it permeated through my soul.
Something about her being back is just very comforting to me, its almost like that one relative you felt so comfortable with but had not seen for 20 years and then suddenly comes back and makes you feel like its all gonna be ok again. Maybe im just strange but thats how her presence and voice make me feel when i listen to her all these years later. This song also pull at my heart, fighting with depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder after coming back from the military really takes a toll on your mental health, physical state and soul especially when nobody close to you understands what you are going through or dont care to know so sometimes it takes a special song like this to remind ones self to look inside and keep loving who you are no matter what flaws you may have.
This song resinates with me, the long hidden struggles with mental health, and the constant criticism for people to be doing something or trying something else to fix themselves, when sometimes we just need some rest, and some love and understanding. Magical to hear and see this live
I feel this song resonates strongly with so many individuals currently going through so much... Whether it's depression, anxiety, fear, anger, isolation, uncertainty, ect. I was diagnosed with agoraphobia, bipolar 1 and Complex-PTSD almost a decade ago... and the stigma surrounding mental health is still very much alive in the public consciousness. (or subconscious) Mental health is physical health, and vice-versa. So much of our long term physical health has direct ties to our mental health... But the stigma is perpetuated through misinformation, shame, fear of people looking at you differently... The list goes on and on. I mean think of how mental illness is portrayed in films... (M. Night Shamalyan is a perfect example. 75% of his movies have a character suffering from some mental illness that ends up being the "bad guy" or the dangerous one: The Village, Split, The Visit, Old, ect.) So songs like this give me hope... hope that someday soon EVERYONE will be more conscious of their mental health - and will have more empathy for those of us who have been fighting a silent war within our minds... but instead of receiving praise and accolades for our accomplishments, we receive judgement. Sometimes all it takes is a smile... or one kind word... or a bit of validation... or a shoulder to lean on and someone to talk to. Be the change you want to see in others. Proactively seek out support, so that you don't have to hide your struggles... And maybe someday you'll be in a position to be that support for someone else. Sending warm thoughts of understanding. We ARE warriors - regardless of what our minds (and society) tell us. 🌻💪😊🙏
@@michele21auntiem Fighting internal battles is draining, and people who don't have similar struggles don't understand. Listen to what your mind and body are telling you, my friend. You are seen. You are heard. And you're a warrior who deserves all the rest your system needs. Sending warmth. 🙏✌

I've been on this planet for three decades now and at least two of them are because Alanis can sing words I can't ever express even in my own head! This woman is an example of what humans need to do: using whatever platform you have to spread awareness! Thank you
My sister loved Alanis she passed away March 2020 every time I hear her music I cry so listening To this song and it being called rest brought me to tears 😭
Her VOICE...gets into your very soul. Such a stunningly gifted human being, not just because of her incredible singing capability, but her extraordinary lyricist abilities as well. I adore her! Thrilled to hear this new release, because if her songs on my playlist were old-fashioned vinyl, the grooves would be worn away! Love you, Alanis. Thank you for sharing your depth of beauty with us through song..💖🎶🎤
Drug and alcohol addiction comes hand in hand with depression. I turned to drink and drugs since I was 11. I was looking at pictures of myself from 11 and I actually look depressed in most of them. No light behind the eyes. I’m 46 and still depressed but clean. Gotta start somewhere
I heard this song for the first time from Lisa Marie's memorial service yesterday. And it tore me apart 💔 Apart from sympathizing for the loss of Lisa's passing...I am also recently grieving the passing of my baby girl. Its been very hard for 21 days.
When Alanis is singing Rest we should take that lady's advice. Alanis seems to be connected to the depth of our existence So take a rest chill feel and heal !
This woman's voice is like a precious friend to me. No, not all the lyrics to all the songs she sings apply to me, but how can you NOT feel every emotion in every song she sings?! I mean, you just want to hug her and be her best friend and tell her you get it...you understand because you feel the same way, too! hits on several levels. finally starting the road to piecing myself together. also, she looks so much like my lost love. I knew couldn't be what she deserved. my heart will never forget.
Why does everyone keep saying that? I mean of course us fans of Chester miss him but the song is not about Chester and I think a lot of people are confused thinking that it is. She played this song at the memorial concert because Mike had heard a demo she had recorded a few years earlier and he thought it was such a beautiful song and fit the moment.
