    Weird log becomes cool lidded jar! Glad you found it hiding in there!

    Looks great. Quick question. Why mount the log sideways in the lathe? Seems like it would be easier to just chuck it up by the cut ends already there. Does it give better stability to the wood, or is it just an aesthetic thing to get the grain to show up better?

      Good question! People usually turn the log like this when woodturning as otherwise you're turning 'end grain' which is more difficult as it causes the grain to tear out.

      Thanks mate! I have loads of bits and pieces, I should really find out what types of wood I have.

      @@IanMacWoodturninglooks like Beech to me.the often make these „Bobbles „ . When they get bigger, they sometimes look like Eyes
