HI everyone, I'm currently a College student and have been waking up for the past couple of years at 5:00am. I used to hate being awake so early for school, but once I got to college and became independent, I found that I needed to change my lifestyle. Here are a couple of things that helped me mentally and physically to get up at 5:00am every single day. The night before, I would prepare by not using the phone for at least 30 minutes before I went to bed. I would avoid any bright lights and try to dim them and make sure my room was cool. Then while I would set up my clothes for my morning run, I would listen to the Quran, as it's very soothing. Then I would lay down and take a couple of deep breaths and get comfortable and just doze off. For waking up, I would first set my alarm for 4:59am, and not 5:00am. Because I found early on that whenever I used to put a 5 or 6 am alarm, I would wake up and press the snooze button and tell myself that I would wake up in 5 or 10 minutes (I never did). So I found, if I set my alarm for 4:59am, I would see the time and have to wake up, coz I know that I can't just sleep for 1 minute and wake up at 5:00am. The second thing I did was put my alarm on the other side of my room. Close enough so I could still hear it, but far, so that I would have to physically get up and turn it off. Then once I'm there to turn the alarm off, it was all about mental strength for me. There were days (and still are) when I just don't feel like going out for a run or staying awake, but I just tell myself that this feeling only lasts for a while, and once I get ready, I will feel better. I think it's important to be happy and excited about waking up early, and not forcing it on yourself. Nothing changes in a day, so take gradual steps and train your mind and body together to wake up early in the morning. Also, enjoy the process, and experiment with what works best for your lifestyle. At first glance it seems like an "ok" start of the day. But imagine how disgusting you will feel at 6 am, when the sweat from the exercise has dried in ;) (since you have 0 minutes to shower)
I've read the book, its a gem, kinda like a life manual. My key takeout - 'all change is hard at first, messy in the middle, and gorgeous at the end'. I've started implementing some of the tips but struggling with consistency. I am keen on staying on the path. Anyone/group out there wanting us to walk together would be appreciated.
I love the idea of spending the first 90 minutes of everyday on your #1 goal. The peak hours of productivity are thr 2-3 hours after waking, so that's a great way to utilize them!
I don't get up at 5am, but I do find I get a lot more done when I'm busy in the morning, rather than dragging my feet. I like the idea of getting up and checking off tasks right away.
Me neither. My day doesn't start until 8 am outside my home. I wake up at 6 brush my teeth, take medicine, breakfast, prayer and meditation, shower, quick clean around the house and out the door I go.😊
This book changed my life, my physical fitness more than anything, but other areas also. Battle through the interminable fiction story to get to the actual plan and the book is worth it.
What you need to do is define success first. I look at this plan and see myself sitting at 6-7am with nothing to do. And it makes me sick to my stomach. Motivation isn't simply something you can turn on or off. Getting up at 5am then determining I need to do a bunch of boring tasks the rest of the day is soul-draining. It's why most people opt to sleep in. Or the thought of getting out of a warm bed to go run isn't very compelling either. It's easy to come up with a plan like this, I do them all the time. And usually don't follow thru. "Just go run 5 miles a day and you will be a success" - yeah, good luck with that. It's also easy when you have a coach.

@@YTSpartyphysical fitness and achieving something in life can make you happier. Why would you have nothing to do when you can exercise, journal, meditate, read, plan your day or week etc?
I found that my morning routine was most effective when I used and evening routine to set up things such as laying out clothes, making my breakfast for the next morning and making a to-do list. This helped remove barriersin the morning and made it much more feaseable
@@atlasdm what about having hobbies and other activities that happen at 19-20? Cause that's when all normal people get off their job and do stuff they love, like training together, dancing, holding a reading club, whatever. Anyone whoo wakes up at 5 or 6 will eventually feel tired at 14-18 and that time will not be productive, anyways. I know enough morning people to say they are useless if they don't take a day nap, and while I worked morning shifts, if was the same for me.

It is totally your choice how you wish to start the day but he abundantly stresses to get the workout in the first 20 mins of the day. So drink water brush your teeth and get on with it do not lose much time on other stuff
@@kaliacaberto3015 funny thing is in the books during initial days of this habit building he actually wore his outfit to sleep so when he woke up he could jump out of bed and start exercising. it's only to defeat your 'I can sleep 5 mins more' brain. and honestly when we brush our teeth before sleeping, you can never have bad breath.
That's why we Muslims wake up for fajir prayer and it's sunnah to beging the day from then. These first hours of the day are the most blessed. Peace be on our beloved prophet Mohammed and all the other prophets.
Also: waking up early if you are, by nature, not a morning person, will mess up your life for years. Listen to your mind and body and other good advice from the book. There are enough scientific studies about some people being most active during the evening or night hours. Working in business during those hours would also never work unless you sell for another country far away that also functions during the same hours. It is impossible to hang out with your friends because they are not waking up at 5, cause they are normal. You should only take this personally if you can wake up at 5 or 6 and feel like a human.
Completely agree. I recommend reading the book "why we sleep" to understand that lack of sleep is very damaging to your health. I would only wake up at 5 am if somehow I manage to still get my solid 8 hours of sleep, otherwise I'll just feel sick the whole day and not do anything
A lot of people think they aren’t morning people because they haven’t given early mornings a chance, of course it’s difficult at the start but later it becomes a habit as with everything else in life, it’s not for everyone for sure but most people just haven’t given it a chance and will just see it as a fact they are not morning people ”by nature”.

The book is endless blah-blah and contains too much of below-mediocre storytelling. The idea behind is great, but in the full version audiobook it takes the author 6 (!) hours to get to the 20-20-20 rule. Idk, if by now you've read the book itself and would disagree with me, but I'd say, the summary is enough. The Miracle Morning has a very similar idea, but i liked it much more 🤓 but all of them can be summarized to "get up early, have a morning routine take care of your well-being, focus on your goals and do tasks that lead you there first" 🙏

The worst thing I want to do to my life is to make it a robotic experience with an overwhelming step by step algorithm that is doomed for failure simply because I start hating it before committing to it. Videos and books like this sell, which is an accomplishment for the publisher but poison for society as it influences anxiety and worrisome. I have never woke up that early consistently. But I make things work for me during the day, and I’m pretty damn successful. Hope you find your grit on your schedule.
thank you for your comment, I could not agree more. Society is so obsessed with using every second of their day productively, it is honestly so toxic. The only thing I agree with is that doing the hardest work first is a good idea, as we tend to lose focus later in the day (at least me). Also, sleep is so important. Unless you are getting 7 to 9 hours of sleep per night you are actually damaging your health by forcefully waking up early

Many are more productive in the evening. Don't force yourself to be in any club. If you're inherently a morning person, sure this will help. Else living under the "should" value system will set you up for failure.
Gheez I’m up at 4:30 for work😮… morning exercise is easier for men - a “quick” shower, dry off, maybe some mousse run thru your hair and done. Women take MUCH longer- blow drying hair, styling it, make up etc etc (just an fyi)
I can't join the club. I have insomnia sometimes making me wake up till 1am and I need to sleep 8 hrs. My mother used to wake up at 5am but she still having trouble being successful. Not for me. I woke up at 6:30am. I prepare myself before 8am to go to office. I have exercise by walking to office. Have my breakfast at office. I value my work and work diligently. I pray at night thanking God for everything. I relax at weekend and read valuable book at weekend. This works for me 😊😊😊
It’s the same lifestyle Allah advised to Mankind. Wake up early for your Fajr prayer. 1. Performing salah = Movement 2. Make dua after prayer and ask help from Allah = Reflecting 3. Read Quran to learn and reflect = Learn It’s funny how now people are learning these concepts through research from knowledgable people. When Allah already provided us with great examples like, Prophet Muhammad and other Prophets (peace be upon them all) as our role models. Totally agree with you. My sister and I take care of our parents who are both ill to the point they need constant care. It is not easy to follow these methods when you are ready to go to bed but discover one of your parents have fallen sick suddenly for the 2nd time in a week.

This system does not seem to include emotional needs or daily household maintenance.Where do you fit in time to nurture your relationships with your partners, your parents, siblings , children and friends ? What I'm not getting is why you have to get up so early to achieve what the book says? Why can't you do everything but within just another time window? 8 hours sleep is a must for good health, but what if I don't feel like turning in at 9pm?

Ive been waking up at 5am for the last few days and I find that I am having a much better life. I'm not rushing all over the place I'm not waiting in lines the only thing that sucks is the waking up part and the waiting on others to wake up part.

@robin: For a long time (like 5 years) I am taking really seriously to wake up at 5AM. About 20/20/20, I faced with some problems such as: Vipassana meditation leads to meditator to medidate for an hour (not 20 min) or about running, I need 15 min to walk (to warm up) and them 1 hour running. so is it ok to have it in that way? maybe it is pitty, however, my mourning routine takes 5 hours in sum: am I doing something wrong?

I have never experienced a better thing than waking up at 4:30-4:45 AM. I spend around thinking for several minutes of what plans for my day, my day really starts exactly at 5. I can do a lot of things before 7 AM, I can even watch a movie. I really recommend for new 5 AM club joiner to try it many times at least 3 days, then you will wake up on time without an alarm, then you will experience a very long day that you can do week work in one day.
@@Ankiswolf I usually go to bed around 9-9:30 PM. this way you will sleep roughly 7 hours. you can try it for several days until you get used to it, the first 3 days might be difficult for you and might get tired around 4 PM. your body feel the day is too long that is why, if you can take a 20 min nap in the afternoon will be great, but for me I don't take it because when I wake up after 20 min I feel very tired and want to sleep again. good luck

So, people who sleep at 9pm and wake up at 4 am have no social life? They can't go to parties and events because you need to sleep at 9. What if you are travelling and your flight is at 10 pm? How do you manage if you are sleepy by 9? You can't attend parties and socialize and so on. Because most of these events happen from 8 pm to 11 pm. It means that we have to sacrifice our activities with our friends and family just to go to bed at 9. What if your kid has exams and they are studying late night and they need you to accompany them during their late night study? Is it worth it? It's a huge scarifies. Yes you will succeed in life but how much time did you spend with your loved ones? And finally you'll die of regret not being there with your loved ones. Is life only about money and success? What did you succeed? You'll be left alone in life with lots of success and money but no social life, no activities with friends. Only work and sleep and money with zero friend experience. It's either this or that. I can't change others. My friends want me to hang out with them from 8 - 11 pm. And I'll be missing on them. My life will go on without them . Slowly I'll be anti social. So, it's a massive sacrifice. It's going to be very hard on your death bed. Don't you think? You'll be missing out on so many small things in life. Your life will be at odd times. Life is short, you never know who dies tomorrow. Spending time with your family and friends are more important than money and success. Both needs to be balanced. You can't change the whole world. So, it's your call. And waking up at 4am will come with a heavy price. You may enjoy it till you are in your 60's but after that you'll regret that you've wasted so much precious time and now it's time to die. By the time you realise what you've been missing in life, it's gonna be too late. You'll be distant and anti-social and boring. What are you gonna do with all that money you've earned? Your friends and family must be there to enjoy it with you but now you are old and boring and no one wants to be with you anymore. Just imagine! Gives me chills.

What you need to do is define success first. I look at this plan and see myself sitting at 6-7am with nothing to do. And it makes me sick to my stomach. Motivation isn't simply something you can turn on or off. Getting up at 5am then determining I need to do a bunch of boring tasks the rest of the day is soul-draining. It's why most people opt to sleep in. Or the thought of getting out of a warm bed to go run isn't very compelling either. It's easy to come up with a plan like this, I do them all the time. And usually don't follow thru. "Just go run 5 miles a day and you will be a success" - yeah, good luck with that. It's also easy when you have a coach.

I found that my morning routine was most effective when I used and evening routine to set up things such as laying out clothes, making my breakfast for the next morning and making a to-do list. This helped remove barriersin the morning and made it much more feaseable

Cause that's when all normal people get off their job and do stuff they love, like training together, dancing, holding a reading club, whatever. Anyone whoo wakes up at 5 or 6 will eventually feel tired at 14-18 and that time will not be productive, anyways. I know enough morning people to say they are useless if they don't take a day nap, and while I worked morning shifts, if was the same for me.

I've read the book and it was pretty life changing. It contains nothing but gems. This summary makes me want to go through it again.
Also: waking up early if you are, by nature, not a morning person, will mess up your life for years. Listen to your mind and body and other good advice from the book. There are enough scientific studies about some people being most active during the evening or night hours.
Working in business during those hours would also never work unless you sell for another country far away that also functions during the same hours. It is impossible to hang out with your friends because they are not waking up at 5, cause they are normal. You should only take this personally if you can wake up at 5 or 6 and feel like a human.
Completely agree. I recommend reading the book "why we sleep" to understand that lack of sleep is very damaging to your health. I would only wake up at 5 am if somehow I manage to still get my solid 8 hours of sleep, otherwise I'll just feel sick the whole day and not do anything

The book is endless blah-blah and contains too much of below-mediocre storytelling. The idea behind is great, but in the full version audiobook it takes the author 6 (!) hours to get to the 20-20-20 rule. Idk, if by now you've read the book itself and would disagree with me, but I'd say, the summary is enough. The Miracle Morning has a very similar idea, but i liked it much more 🤓 but all of them can be summarized to "get up early, have a morning routine take care of your well-being, focus on your goals and do tasks that lead you there first" 🙏

The worst thing I want to do to my life is to make it a robotic experience with an overwhelming step by step algorithm that is doomed for failure simply because I start hating it before committing to it. Videos and books like this sell, which is an accomplishment for the publisher but poison for society as it influences anxiety and worrisome. I have never woke up that early consistently. But I make things work for me during the day, and I’m pretty damn successful. Hope you find your grit on your schedule.

The only thing I agree with is that doing the hardest work first is a good idea, as we tend to lose focus later in the day (at least me). Also, sleep is so important. Unless you are getting 7 to 9 hours of sleep per night you are actually damaging your health by forcefully waking up early

I can't join the club. I have insomnia sometimes making me wake up till 1am and I need to sleep 8 hrs. My mother used to wake up at 5am but she still having trouble being successful. Not for me. I woke up at 6:30am. I prepare myself before 8am to go to office. I have exercise by walking to office. Have my breakfast at office. I value my work and work diligently. Totally agree with you. My sister and I take care of our parents who are both ill to the point they need constant care. It is not easy to follow these methods when you are ready to go to bed but discover one of your parents have fallen sick suddenly for the 2nd time in a week.

About 20/20/20, I faced with some problems such as: Vipassana meditation leads to meditator to medidate for an hour (not 20 min) or about running, I need 15 min to walk (to warm up) and them 1 hour running. so is it ok to have it in that way? maybe it is pitty, however, my mourning routine takes 5 hours in sum: am I doing something wrong?
For me:
4:30 - Wake up
4:45 - Shower
5:15 - make breakfast
5:30 - Code
7:30 - Get the kid ready for pre-school
8:30 - start working from home

This is a great summary though I haven't read this the book but also try reading the MIRACLE MORNING by Hal Elrod. This book changed my life, I have been a morning person ever since I read it.
I have never experienced a better thing than waking up at 4:30-4:45 AM. I spend around thinking for several minutes of what plans for my day, my day really starts exactly at 5. I can do a lot of things before 7 AM, I can even watch a movie.
I really recommend for new 5 AM club joiner to try it many times at least 3 days, then you will wake up on time without an alarm, then you will experience a very long day that you can do week work in one day.
But what time do you go to bed? And how long did it take you to get used to it?
@@Ankiswolf I usually go to bed around 9-9:30 PM. this way you will sleep roughly 7 hours. you can try it for several days until you get used to it, the first 3 days might be difficult for you and might get tired around 4 PM. your body feel the day is too long that is why, if you can take a 20 min nap in the afternoon will be great, but for me I don't take it because when I wake up after 20 min I feel very tired and want to sleep again. good luck

So, people who sleep at 9pm and wake up at 4 am have no social life? They can't go to parties and events because you need to sleep at 9. What if you are travelling and your flight is at 10 pm? How do you manage if you are sleepy by 9? You can't attend parties and socialize and so on. Because most of these events happen from 8 pm to 11 pm. It means that we have to sacrifice our activities with our friends and family just to go to bed at 9. What if your kid has exams and they are studying late night and they need you to accompany them during their late night study? Is it worth it? It's a huge scarifies. Yes you will succeed in life but how much time did you spend with your loved ones? And finally you'll die of regret not being there with your loved ones. Is life only about money and success? What did you succeed? You'll be left alone in life with lots of success and money but no social life, no activities with friends. Only work and sleep and money with zero friend experience. It's either this or that. I can't change others. My friends want me to hang out with them from 8 - 11 pm. And I'll be missing on them. My life will go on without them . Slowly I'll be anti social. So, it's a massive sacrifice. It's going to be very hard on your death bed. Don't you think? You'll be missing out on so many small things in life. Your life will be at odd times. Life is short, you never know who dies tomorrow. Spending time with your family and friends are more important than money and success. Both needs to be balanced. You can't change the whole world. So, it's your call. And waking up at 4am will come with a heavy price. You may enjoy it till you are in your 60's but after that you'll regret that you've wasted so much precious time and now it's time to die. By the time you realise what you've been missing in life, it's gonna be too late. You'll be distant and anti-social and boring. What are you gonna do with all that money you've earned? Your friends and family must be there to enjoy it with you but now you are old and boring and no one wants to be with you anymore. Just imagine! Gives me chills.
I highly reccomend investing in a high quality sleep mask for sleep improvement as well, sleep is so important and these really do help
