God i fucking love this guy. How much creators on this site can click-bait without actually click-baiting, but delivering instead. Fuck yeah. So much good advice!
I read tons of books from japan . They also have a book/magazines,lots of picture reference. There are dynamic poses too, like fighting, guns, armors, sexy poses, etc. Especially studying real life photo can help you to study like the light source, the anatomy, the render and etc. Also, you can learn body perspective and angle of the body that will aid you for dynamic angles. Also, video games can help to take screenshots like fighting scenes. In a book of drawing from reference(I don't know exactly). As what i observe, they used photos for reference but when you draw it, It will not look like the same like the reference. I mean you can copy the pose and change a little bit like enlarging the hands in front view, adjust the elbow, make the legs more skinny, enlarge the shoes, change the position of the hand and put a sword for balance. A little tip if you feel doubt and you want to find some errors to your poses, just flip the canvas horizontally (for digital user) to correct the errors,. Sorry for my English and I hope it helps . Your video content is amazing,Sir.
The thing with bows is the guy pulling the recurve bowis holding the draw weight, compound bows with cams have 'let off' (?)...so holding a drawn compound bow is same as a 10 lb draw to hold. That said, you're probably right in saying you want to show power in the pose. In that case, you may want to shift the timing of the pose....either show the draw, just after the release, or use the held draw if the story calls for It. I very much appreciate the video reference advice. It's like the difference between Vallejo and Frazetta. Vallejo's action shots always look a bit posed and static, while Frazetta's look like a frame from a film (even if not as rendered as Vallejo's people)

I say if your doing animation- frame by frame reference photos would probably be superior to a singular reference photo since you get the whole movement picture broken down. Great advice btw, as I am learning life drawing and have been loving the live drawing sessions even if they are pre-recorded here on youtube. What I find that is interesting about live movement is that it forces you to focus differently and think differently about your subject. Even if they are just standing there balancing and shaking a bit. The video I watched from this series talked about how when we reference photo versus real life our minds only see so much in the photo because the device flattens the image.
