    Been loving what has been coming from Niviuk lately. Really looking forward to seeing your review of the new Ikuma as well!

    It's interesting how the impressions can vary. I've got 30h on my new Peak 6 and I can definitely tell that the brake pressure is quite firm, while you mean it's relatively light. One doesn't really need to pull much, but even those 15-20 cm are quite heavy (not tiring though). I fully agree about the handling and the turning behavior (a delight!), however, I feel there are some compromises towards more comfort instead of performance (e.g. entering strong cores or gliding on full speed bar - there are EN-D wings with more performance). It seems to me that the Peak 6 is rather an ultimate XC machine and less of competition rocket - which is actually the reason I bought it. Thanks for the short review!

      @dymanoid Thanks for sharing your experiences and feedback! 😁 As I'm sure you can tell from this first impressions video (based on flying the wing for a few hours in a variety of conditions on one day) I personally really like the Peak 6 a lot: it was definitely love at first flights! 🥰 Actually for me personally the Peak 6 is one of the nicest paragliders I have ever flown - which is hundreds of them, in over thirty yeas and thousands of hours of paragliding (not to boast about my experience but more to emphasize how exceptional I feel this wing is). 🤓
      Having flown the Peak 6 some more since, I pretty much agree with what you've written. I agree that the brakes are not really light, more quite firm. Thinking back to my first flights, I think I had the impression the brakes were relatively light because the handling is so good (direct, responsive and agile) and as a result the turning feels quite effortless. On the first day I tested the Peak 6 the thermals were quite narrow, with small cores, so to make the best out of the lift I had to turn the wing quite tightly, and make a lot of tight turns. The wing did this so well and efficiently that I spent most of the day much higher than anyone else and, with the excellent glide performance and high comfort factor, was able to explore the sky much more than anyone else that day - which of course made me like the wing even more! 😉
      Although I need to do more performance testing to be more sure, so far I also agree with you that my feeling is that it seems like Niviuk have made the Peak 6 more as "an ultimate XC machine and less of competition rocket" (couldn't have put it better myself! 👍) i.e. with "compromises towards more comfort instead of performance" (again, couldn't have put it better myself! 👍). We have some very good pilots in our area (British team pilots, ex-champions, top level XC and PWC pilots) flying high D and CCC wings e.g. Zeno 2, Enzo 3, Boomerang 12 etc so I will try to fly more with them to be more sure.
      Thanks again for sharing your experience and pilot feedback! 😊

      @dymanoid ps. Just watched your Peak 6 first impressions video, thanks for sharing! 😎 Seems like your findings and feelings about the Peak 6 are very similar to mine - and also some other wings you mention in the video and comments. Interesting reading the comments of others, both for this and your video. Look forward to watching more of your Paragliding XC Stories! 🪂😀

      I fly both Peak 5 and 6, and brakes on 5 are way heavier, so Peak 6 is a welcome change.

    Since making this first impressions review, I've had opportunity to test the Peak 6 some more. Truth is, I was looking for excuses to fly it more! So here's a bit more feedback on this superb high performance wing.
    In terms of pilots demands, although I would class the Peak 6 as a D wing, not a C wing, I find the pilot demands to be surprisingly low for a wing with an a flat aspect ratio of 6.9. It's surprisingly easy - and playful - to launch, ground handle and fly, even in tricky and very active conditions.
    I had opportunity to compare the performance of the Peak 6 with many wings, including a few in the same class. Compared to the Leopard and Zeno (1), the performance certainly seems better than especially glide and speed, with lower pilot demands than both of these wings - and incomparably nicer handling and feeling than the latter, I feel!
    Compared to the Zeno 2, I found the the overall performance of the Peak 6 to be very close however I think the Zeno 2 has an edge at top speed. The Peak 6 is however far more comfortable to fly, I feel - and I'd be surprised to hear anyone truthfully say different. The Peak 6 and Zeno 2 both have great handling for the class; the Zeno 2 is far nicer than the Zeno 1 in this regard, I feel!
    For almost all pilots, I don't think the small performance difference between these two wings should make any difference to cross country flying performance. Actually I think for most pilots flying this class of wing the Peak 6 is the better XC wing, as it's more comfortable, less mentally tiring to fly*. A pilot flying cross country on a Peak 6 would only have themselves and luck to blame if a pilot flying a Zeno 2 performed better than them, I believe. However, in racing competitions I think the Zeno 2, with it's slightly higher top speed, has the advantage over the Peak 6 (as long as you don't get a big collapse, which I think is more likely on the Zeno 2, all else being equal).
    So, I think the Peak 6 and Zeno 2 are both really fantastic high performance wings. Although both could excel in both XC and competition flying, I feel the Peak 6 is more pleasure and XC oriented, where the Zeno 2 is more out-and-out performance and racing competition oriented.
    * This of course doesn't apply so much to top competition pilots, comfortable flying CCC wings in all conditions, for whom the pilot demands of an EN D wing will feel relatively easy!

    THX for the top review! How is this wing compared to the Klimber P3, i mean the fun factor?

    • @flybubblecarlo
      @flybubblecarlo 4 месяца назад

      Glad you like the review! I find the fun factor equally great on both - they both have exceptionally responsive, agile and nice handing for the class! Unsurprisingly, the more performance-oriented Peak 6 is more solid than the more weight-oriented Klimber 3 P, which moves around more in active air and I feel has a bit higher pilot demands.
