Jesus, I just realized I've been giving people work priorities backwards..... I've given my cook a 4 prio to cooking and 1 to plant cutting etc. Jesus christ.
I saw a really good tip in a Let's Play video, can't remember who. They set up a zone that was only their fields and when they got blighted, then they assigned everyone to that zone. Since none of the pawns could leave, the only thing they could do was plant cut. You have to change their work schedule to force them to work, otherwise they might sleep or stargaze. But it's a quick and easy way to get everyone to drop what they are doing and work on the blight.
Instead of cutting off Drug addict's legs, just grow smokeleaf. Once the addiction progresses and they get some serious withdrawal, smoking 1 smokeleaf joint will cause them to pass out, then you can prescribe 1 smokeleaf joint a day to keep them KO'd until they get past withdrawal.
I feel like I could just use that shift click method you taught earlier to command my Pawn to cut all the blighted plants first instead of just rearranging my priorities
I knew all of these, however I wanted to point out that for a killbox is always a good idea to place a roof to be darkness. Darkness will slow down speed of raiders. Also if you want to slow down ever more place a stone chunck - empty tile - stone chunk it will slow down EVEN MORE than a continuous sandbags or sandbag - empty tile - sandbag.
I haven't played for a while, but I do remember just forbidding access to their doors or putting them into jail, with food placed in their cell. When they go through their withdrawal, they are usualy fine after. I do like the leg removal technique too though, you can at least "work on them", feed them, heal them etc.
Another Suggestion for addicts / chemical fascinators.. create a stockpile room big enough to house drugs only and set priority to critical (highest prio) (usually i stick it inside a mountain. Once the room is created and all the drugs are stashed inside the stockroom, build a wall around the entrance of the stockpile completely entombing the room. None of your pawns will have access to it unless you deconstruct that wall. BUT it is still trade-able to any merchant. Just keep in mind that if you acquire new drugs you will have to deconstruct.. haul in... and then rebuild the wall back in place. This will halt all fascination and also addicts will not have free access to the drugs. If your addicts are getting out of hand going on a binge. Arrest them!! put them in jail (time out) until they are done.
Drugs are not that bad though. I always play on the highest difficulties and any mood buffs are welcome. But you can also make a ton of money if you just sell them you're right.

One thing about removing legs for addiction recovery. Usually you only need to remove one leg because one they have withdrawal symptoms it will lower their movement below the threshold.
Orion exoskeletons work better than cutting legs off. Install, then remove an Orion exoskeleton. The spine is left shattered, so no mental breaks, no prisoner escape attempts. When the colonist is over their addiction, or the prisoner is recruited, you can reinstall the same exoskeleton and give them a 40% speed boost. This is why I tend to keep the Orion Corporation as an enemy until quite late in the game. Only when you start dealing with their heavies do the risks outweigh the benefits of keeping them off-side.
This tips were made for vanilla. I'm aware you can do many things with mods but most people who are looking for tips are still playing just pure vanilla.
Woah, just looked it up then. I wasn't aware that Orion Exoskeletons weren't vanilla. I started playing around the same time you did, and only played vanilla for a week or so before I added mods. I just assumed that Orion Soldiers had exoskeletons in vanilla. Makes their prisoners a valuable asset.
So, I'm planning on buying Rimworld and was wondering if it's possible to build in areas other than the one you start in. Can you send a caravan to a neighboring tile and build an outpost, for example? And if not, is there a mod that allows you to do so?

There's been some restrictions added in 1.0 but there's also two extra options that are really nice. First is making kibble, especially if you have insect or human meat. You don't really need to refrigerate kibble and they'll gladly eat that and you can forbid them from your fridge. This ofc requires a cook to butcher corpses (and they won't be happy about butchering humans unless you get a psychopath) and then make kibble. Second option is you create an extra fridge and store the corpses of the raiders in there. Forbid your animals from your fridge and they will go in there to eat the frozen corpses. You only need a hauler for that, but make sure to put it into a low traffic area so people don't get the "saw a corpse" debuff. Also if you just have plenty of herbivores, you can let them graze on grass, create a field for them where they can graze or grow hay and they'll be happy to eat that.
@@KokoplaysMB ok thanks i guess i will just make another small stock area for my dogs and artic wolf. i dont mind letting them in the fridge as long as they only eat the raw meat in there, but they always eat the fine/simple meals. wish they just add food restrictions for animals like they have with prisoners.

Mobs get confused by your base, often wandering splitting up to punch rice. Killboxes allow them a death or glory charge.
Not quite the same as a cheesebox where you cook enemies to death or snake them over the frozen corpses of other raiders and freeze them to death. Or make the path so long they starve.
Do you count your boomrat hut as a killbox? XD
