Well, if the time zone was set to Hawaii, it could only be one legendary guy.
I'm very confused. The words on the decal are using English letters; but, they aren't English words. Or maybe they're just Fancy English words like they speak in France and Quebec? I knew I should've taken Fancy English instead of Spanish in high school. Spanish was a complete waste of time because, fun fact, they'll throw you out of Taco Bell if you try to order in any language other than English. How does that make sense? It doesn't. Just like how AYN and Retroid use many of the same hardware parts and software; but, we're supposed to believe they are totally not the same company. No, sir! It's just like how a Maserati uses the same power window switches as a Dodge minivan. Why? Because Dodge, and Chrysler, and Jeep, and Fiat, and Maserati, and Opel are all owned by Peuguot. What's a Peuguot? I thought it was the Fancy English word for a bicycle; but, apparently they make cars now and are like one of the biggest auto manufacturers in the world? I'm very confused.

People complained that the transparent colours of the Odin 1 didn't have RGB. Now that these new ones do people are complaining... people are strange... great video mate
I've seen several comments saying the wish it was smaller, larger, or cheaper. Yeah, dudes... I wish it was of Ayaneo quality but at Miyoo prices. GET REAL.
I got a transparent Odin just to avoid RGBs. Most pointless thing on a handheld to me.
I was one of those who were pissed we didn't get RGB on the Odin, there was absolutely no documentation to tell us we weren't getting it, it was only the screenshots that didn't show. At least with the Odin 2 there's an option to turn it off if we don't want it.

I read somewhere that AYN and Retroid have the same parent company kind of like OnePlus and OPPO.
You actually can adjust the LEDs. Going all the way down into the black color way reduces the brightness of them.
That's true. You can skew the color towards black and it lowers the apparent brightness, but this is currently behind three layers of menus. The next update adds it to the first layer of menus so it's more obvious.
Great review, Zu! You can dim the LED's btw, just move the slider to the black.
This is such an exciting device for the future of android devices! Cannot wait for whatever Retroid comes up with next!

The screen protector was put on wrong. The hole is so that it doesn't interfere with the light sensor and it's supposed to be in the upper left, not bottom right.

Is there a way to remove that white line at the right? It's distracting to see and ruins the immersion. Wish they had a option to make it invisible.
Yes, you have to click on "Floating Icon" in the drop down menu.
Your thumbnail might give a misleading impression about the bezels. Yeah more people will click your video because of the thumbnail but viewers might have false expectations based on the image you made. Other than that thanks for the very decent review.
The short answer is being too quick in photoshop while making the thumbnail. I've replaced it with a more system-accurate look.

You can turn off the LED, in fact even adjust the brightness and color.

The cool thing is i have an x86 handheld that can run switch anything just fine... So I'll be super happy with my odin 2 8gb model 👍
This is why I was okay with the 6GB version of the Pocket Air. I can Steam Deck my way through Switch emulation if necessary
@@retrohandhelds exactly my point I can get switch emulation working on yuzu Android for some of the games and for the ones that don't that's ok I can do ps3 and Xbox and high end switch on my x86 handheld
I got mine yesterday, and they didn't send me the case I ordered
I get for a quick playthrough test it's not possible to play all the games as far through. But I really wish there was a demo of someone playing GameCube paper Mario thousand Year door on this device later in the game. My g cloud runs it great at 720p until I get the point where Mario can turn into paper plane, and then whenever I use that in the game it slows down to about 50% and is unplayable in those moments. Guess I'll have to wait a couple weeks to get mine until I can try it in person to see if this handles it better but it should.
This is a valid issue, and we're working to grind a bit on some of these common demo games so we have save files from beyond the first few stages.

Between this and the Pocket S. Also i can't wait to see what the snapdragon g3x gen 2 is like compared to the 8 gen 2. I don't know which one is meant to be the better chipset because Qualcomm is now in a ridiculous naming convention.
They're claiming the G3x is better but you can't rule out a Razer Edge scenario where it's just a low-effort rebrand.

What settings are you using, for Zelda Tears of the Kingdom to run so good, on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered device? It might stutter, but that's the best I've seen it run on anything with that processor (which I do realize will only get even better over time, like you were talking about, I know the hardware can more than handle it otherwise).
All I did was use the R7 driver from github.com/K11MCH1/AdrenoToolsDrivers. No other setup tweaks at all.

It's not something that I noticed that much while playing. I notice it when I'm playing in a very quiet room with the sound off, and it shows up in the video since I didn't have the volume turned up that high, but it's kind of something my ears tuned out while actually playing if that makes sense.

IGG shipping is always kind of a crapshoot. Just be patient, and check the Indiegogo updates. I know of a couple people who just received their non-review models in the last couple days, so they're coming.
Hey people! I am hoping someone could help me 🙏 my Odin 2 should be here tomorrow however my SD card will come later sadly 😭 my question is can I take the SD card out of my switch OLED delete it, format it to exfat and then move my games and such?
I ordered the pro with 12 gig of ram. Should I or should I not update it to the max? And if so why? Really on the fence about it.
I would say 12GB is fine. You'll be hard pressed to find a situation where the extra 4 GB of ram would come into play outside of some niche use cases. - Gary

@@cabobre i always go for the best model even if it kills my wallet. But in this particular case, base model is the way to go.
@@yagami999913 Actually, Pro is the way to go imo. I have the base, and on switch emulation, the lack of more ram really throttles it on harder to emulate games such as TotK, barely playable on the base, whereas on the Pro it runs well. It does depend on your usecase, though. If you don't plan on the highest-end switch games, Base will demolish anything else you throw at it.
hi i'm looking at buying the odin 2 but haven't pulled the trigger yet.. do you know if the odin 2 works well with first person shooter games that need accuracy with the right joystick? i dont have a retro handheld and its hard to find a video of anyone playing a FPS that isn't mobile cod. i'm thinking of the possibility of game streaming from my pc to the odin 2. thanks
The sticks are small but precise but will never be as good as a full size controller, I think if you're just looking for something to play single player or causal it'll be fine.
Does Dread run at 60fps? it looks like it does, man i would buy it just for that and i bet it has longer battery life than the actual switch

Emudeck is basically a fancy setup script that downloads + configures already existing emulators. There's no Wii U emulator for Android, so Emudeck on Android won't be able to run Wii U.

You might run into issues with android games or switch emulators that *might* need more RAM, but for anything PS2 and below, you should be fine. We're planning on doing some of the lower-end Pocket Air videos, so any differences with the ram should be pretty apparent once those come out.

PS3 doesn't have a functioning android emulator unless there's something new I haven't heard of. It will crush 99.9% of PS2 games though.

Why do all you reviewers talk about gaming in bed? Immediately before sleep is the absolute worst time to start unblinkingly at a blue screen and engage with a stressful, mentally taxing content like a vidya. Phone is bad enough, I don't want something like this also in the mix.
After kiddo bedtime and chores are done, I gotta have that 45 minutes of video games in bed... before I drop the handheld on my face while nodding off. 😥
