I have a steam deck on sale right now and wanting to buy this once its being sold because i have a great pc as well.
Basically what I’m going to do also, steam deck oled for me is overkill so I’m looking at this or a 556 / 4 pro etc

My 2 year old SD is bricked so I bought the odin 2 pro. Can always stream PC games instead of playing low quality in a SD. Never used my SD that much within the 2 years cus of how big it is and the crappy battery life.

Great video! I love the Odin 2 base and it’s handled everything I’ve thrown at it: genshin, switch and emulation of all kinds.
Anyone know if you can use the key mapping feature on portrait games rather than landscape? The swipe function just closes the app rather than bringing up the menu. Many thanks

I agree with you on the want for a cellular option. It would have been really coinvent to play Android games like Honkai Star Rail on the go. But it seems like the absence 5G/LTE may have been one of the areas that allowed AYN to keep the cost of the device down. Qualcomm's 5G modems aren't cheap, so the fact that the Snapdragon 8 gen 2s that the Odin 2 is using doesn't have it seems to be contributing to the $299 starting price.
Yeah good point. It would cost extra to add that 5G chip.
I got this over Steam Deck as i already have a good pc, battery life seems better, and much more portable. I'll try streaming once it arrives to see if it's worth it to me.

Regarding battery life:Here's a better test i personally ran through.
(60% brightness+50% volume+perfomance mode on odin 2 pro+smart fan+no wifi/bluetooth)
Got around 5hr 20 mins of constant playtime on super mario wonder on yuzu @1080P 60FPS(Docked mode) before it went down to 4%,yes and that's on a single entire stretch lol don't ask me why i played for so long.
I think with airplane mode,720P instead of 1080P,lower brightness levels and volume you can touch 6 hours.
I played a couple other switch titles and can pretty much confirm that's it's 1 to 1 with a switch V2 in terms of battery life which is pretty fking good.

I get where you’re coming from about the screen size, but I think you should of pointed out that this also has a dock available and controller support and so AAA games would play perfectly on a tv or monitor

The most powerful Arm based retro handheld device as of now. What really limits it is the software development now. It's really fun to play hoyo games on it with max settings.
Really sucks that the development for PS2 emulation was killed off. But luckily, we have switch. Plus windows gaming emulation is slowly growing.
Now all that's left are the ps3, xbox and 360 emulation.
The price for the pro makes it a hard choice cause it's reaching steamdeck levels which are far more capable and versatile.

Some games like drakengard I find the transitions can be really slow
Just a question if I'm going for Odin 2 for Android Games like Genshin, Tower of fantasy and Hoping for wuthering waves or some other fast pace Hack and slash games is it better for me to go with a tablet like lenovo legion y700 2023 Where touch is relatively better than a controller?
I'd just go for this. My main reason for getting this is to run genshin and emulate everything.... sorry wasn't much help but this is what I've got too say
The Ship of Harkinian does not use the 3DS versions assets and still looks way worse than the 3DS version. It is neat that it is a widscreen native port but I still prefer the 3DS version on my Odin 2 by far. Having the second screen toggle on one of the back buttons makes it a breeze to play and select items.
I thoight I was going to use the Odín 2 for streaming but tbh I got a g cloud after the Odín 2 and it feels like a big upgrade - streaming wise .
I think Odín 2 should have had a 7inch screen . It’s barely portably as it is.

max rly is overkill dude cause 12 gb is enough to run all of the same games the max can at the same and if you want higher storage buy a sd card but bro if your rly want it you do you

@@coronacalona6683pro is 12 gb of rm 256 of storage and max is 16 gb of ram and 512 storage
@@coronacalona6683but to be completely honest 8gb is too low to run switch games and 16 gb is WAY to much to run a switch game 12 gb can run the same as 16 gb so jut get pro if you want more storage spend some money on a sim card their pretty cheap

Is this a better device than using a Samsung Fold 5? My son told me to just use my phone because it is newer?
Doesn't that phone open up into two screens? I imagine that must be great for DS and 3DS emulation.

I’ll try:
Odin Key = Wii Key
A = B
Y = A
X = 1
Y = 2
D pad = D pad
No nunchuck extension
Cursor simulation = right stick
Use OpenGL or the cursor doesn’t work right
Don’t map anything to shake

What would you recommend if I just want a handheld console for native android games such as cod mobile and Genshin.
The Odin 2 to me feels like the best, most comfortable option for that, especially considering the built-in button mapper. You don't need the pro though. You can get away with the base model.

Get the Pro if you want to run all Switch games
Just get the pro, Max is overkill for a lot more money. There won’t be many games taking advantage of that 16GB of ram. Base has a few problems. Pro is the perfect definitive choice imo.
There is no difference in performance for any emulator between all three devices.
@@williammiller3277 Actually there is as the base model can’t play many of the games for long periods of time due to the ram. Performance won’t really be hindered but you can’t get through many games without restarting the device.
@@TheBossVinegar update then. Ram swapping issue has been fixed. There is no performance difference between any of the models.

Not as well as the 12GB I reviewed but I’m sure it can run lighter titles.
So I was going to buy the Base model and was wondering why some people say it’s underpowered? Most of the switch games only use 6gb of RAM and that’s the only performance difference between the models.
Can any owners of the Base model comment on performance?
Hey! I owned the Pro model but people who call the Base underpowered are most definitely exaggerating, both devices have the exact same chip regardless of ram and the Ram swap hack was officially added into every model, allowing the Base to have about the same performance when it comes to switch emulation and android games
I have the base and haven’t hit any issue with Switch emulation
Out of all of those negatives, the only one that I agree with is the price being in spitting distance of the Steam Deck. I really want something like Steam Deck but smaller, so the screen being small is fine. Being limited by emulator progress affects all android handhelds, it's not unique to Odin 2. There's been some promising progress with Winlator, allowing you to play games like Skyrim and Fallout 4.
i want to ask my parents for one in abt six months when i go back to america but i would like to ask some questions abt stuff like places to get roms without a pc cuz ik for sure i won't get a pc cuz last one i had broke down because it is old but i would like to know stuff like roms and how to optimize stuff

Base version is fine now that they added 4gb extra VRAM, you just can only get Black and they almost never have it in stock. They very clearly don't want to sell it for that $299 price. The pro isn't necessary at all unless you want a special color, but paying 70 dollars for a color is kind of pointless. Paying the extra 70 is basically the only way to get any model though at this point

Ps 3 emulation is on very early stages on Android and pretty much unplayable

@@Gar_y21 do u have proof since the Ayn Odin pro wasn't able to and it had a snapdragon 845 only the Ayn lite but it had mediatek chip. Just really want it confirm it can play.

i wish this had a 6.5 inch 1080p oled display with adaptive refresh rate upto120hz with the same size while cutting the bezels a bit. that would have made this a perfect device
