I must have watched hundreds of hours of guitar stuff on RUclips and that was the most mind blowing four minutes I've seen yet. I already have the most possible respect for Dweezil, and his dad Frank especially, but Dweezil just went up a notch in my book.

I totally agree,it's almost like getting the keys to the highway, A great way to exercise your fingers and get a great new sound in your head at the same time. I wish there was some way that we could let Dweezil know just how influential his lessons are.

he is even better than his father was, which is hard to believe. to Frank's credit he was a better song writer, no to mention a conductor. Dweezil and his band are well worth seeing if you get the chance.

I think it is neglect of picking attention and mechanics.
Focusing on that, after years of fingering focus and repetitive muscle memory habits, forces you to rethink everything, think ahead, AND learning and playing unfamiliar scalar fingering patterns.
It was Troy Grady's "cracking the code" series that did it for the 35 year wall I hit after about five years of playing covers.
The last five years I've been improvising and shredding, with freedom and melody, at whatever speed works for the chords.
The greats are fluent with both hands.
Check out Troy's channel if you've not heard of it.
I guarantee, you will be thrilled you did.

He's such a great guy, right after his concert he would talk to everyone who wished to talk to him so friendly, so personable he'd talk to you as if you were a long time friend. He didn't have to but he stayed and talked in such a carefree way you'd forget he had so many projects going on at the time and was I'm sure on a tight schedule.

I want to belatedly thank Frank Zappa for proving me wrong about something, having grown up with and loved Frank's music. When Dweezil was first born and I learned of the name Frank had given his son, I winced because I thought that giving him such an unusual name would have given him problems in life, possibly subjecting him to ridicule. But Frank has proven my concerns to be unfounded. Dweezil has emerged as a real mensch, a wonderful musician, and an original voice.

As a guitar player you shift through a lot of useless stuff. Spending hours of your time with little improvement. Then you find small pieces along the way that make a big difference. This is one of those things. This really opened up the neck for me. It’s a lot easier to slide down the neck to hit a certain note and know what else will work in that location!

Its rare to have a lightbulb moment, this is one. I had to watch this a couple times to get it, think of 5 shapes from form one to the next octave, I was being lazy and thinking there were only 3. I didnt quite catch that the first time around. Cool how they go horizontal and can also be stacked for the pattern.

I have a long way to go to get back, it looks like those fingers are always running and sliding up and down the frets. I see that this is exactly what I'm stumbling around with, thanks, man.
