Your description of piano reproduction is generally my way of determining if the speaker is accurate for my ears. When you get that right most other things follow. Thanks for your evaluation & description.
I really like seeing systems from other people. This segment is a welcome addition to end of your reviews.

Great review, when I listen to my friends sumptuous looking Sonus Faber speakers, gorgeous pieces of furniture, then return to my insignificant vinyl rap Dynaudio boxes I have to smile. Different strokes for different folks indeed.

I know I'm late to the party here on this video, but I wanted to share my first experience into audiophile sound. Dynaudio was the first speaker that I heard where I actually understood what high fidelity sounded like. I learned how to listen with them, top to bottom, front to back, and side to side. Now, they are my reference speaker for everything. I also agree with you that finding the best speaker is all in your preferences and connecting a certain speaker to those preferences. Excellent review.

I too really enjoy the viewers system of the day section. I find it very inspirational, and it really goes to show there is no such thing as the best speaker or best amplifier. The diversity proves that different equipment appeals to us as individuals, we all find what works for us, and that to us is the best. I'm sure you get so much response so it's a great way to show everybody's system making them proud of what they have put together.

  • @gen-X-trader

I love that speaker. The difference I personally noticed between the kef and dynaudio sound that really stuck with me is how you could play even low resolution files on the dyn and they sounded decent. You could listen to music for hours and it wasn't fatiguing. The kef was great with some tracks and screaming at you with others. They were very revealing of the recording quality and with electronic music just the way it was produced. To me the dyn sounds much more realistic, much more like being at the club, much more like being at an event. They are also very linear when you put the power down. I even have the dyn esotec line in my car.

Can’t help wondering how much that Gato amp is contributing to the overall impression of quality here, Steve. It’s a beast of a thing and if it’s anything like my Musical Fidelity A308,it will be really helping those drivers with its sheer grip. Did you try them with something a bit less capable, say in the $1,000-$1,500 range, which after all, is what potential owners are more likely to have?

Hello from Minneapolis! Steve, I think it's genius to include a viewers system on every review. It keeps me interested. I have, on your recommendations, Klipsch Heresy iv and Magnepan 1.7i speakers, run by a Mcintosh c50 preamp, PrimaLuna Prologue 4 amp for the Klipsch and Mcintosh mc352 SS amp for the Magnepans. When I get use to the sound of the 1.7i's I'll switch over to the tubes and Klipsch side. I love my records, about 1200 of them and lots of CD's and stream using ipad with Dragonfly Cobalt DAC to listen to Amazon and Tidal. I also will run the Klipsch with the mc352 SS just for a change of pace, and I do like to move the speakers around to get different sound. I do this because of your, and other reviewers, message that there is no no perfect system or sound. It's only the systems owner that needs to like the sound of the system. In all honesty I am not going to watch another review of a 2000 dollar speaker with great interest, but I will sit through it just to see the viewers system. Keep up the great work, I make a point to watch and like your channel! The next time you call for photo's I am going to send in my system!

Aaaah, the late Jean Guillou ! You would be most impressed to hear him (also on Dorian) with his orchestral transcription of 'Pictures at an Exhibition'. I believe on an instrument he had designed with the organ builders!
That organ has pedal ranks that go down to 16Hz. (rarely used in Bach registrations) BTW. You will hear all kinds of 'rumblings' on that one! You really need a musical and large subwoofer to take that in for sure, and it is the main reason I purchased the Martin Logan 1600X paired with the ESL 9's. ((O:

I wish that speaker manufacturers could determine how they want to rate speaker sensitivity; I would prefer dB for 1 watt at 1`meter (anechoic on axis). If that were the case, then Dynaudiio would rate the sensitivity of the Emit 30 Tower Speaker as 84 dB for 1 watt at 1 meter instead of 87 dB for 2.83v at 1 meter since 2.83 volts is 2 watts. So, while it is not a very sensitive loudspeaker, any amplifier comfortable with working at 4 watts should be fine depending upon what the lowest impedance really is - something that Steve can't know.

Hello Steve thank you very much for all the daily shows you're making. Over these videos, I'm still very intrigated to know why you didn't keep the omni directionnal speaker Ohm acoustic you seemed to like a lot. Could you give us some light on them ? many thanks Max

Damn…I would LOVE to to compare this Emit slender tower to my stand-mounted Dynaudio Contour 20s. They would have the same footprint, but I think that my Contour reaches deeper in the bass frequencies. Still…it might be an interesting comparison considering the huge price difference in the two speakers. (…and no stand purchase necessary for the Emit 30s!) That makes them less than a 3rd of the price of The Contours!. Hmmmmmmmm 🤔

@@henriksrensen3220 good day Henrik, I too find that these speakers to be impeccably mannered, every sound is in proportion and sounds airy, as big as the space above my head. I am so happy not to require bass assistance since my listening room is not as large as I might prefer, do not need more equipment on the floor! I am looking to pair the R3 with either the T+A 2500R or a Musical Fidelity Nu-Vista 800. Currently running a T+A DAC 8 through and an older Musical Fidelity power amp and love that the sound is not too bright as I have heard with others.

@@henriksrensen3220 happy Monday Henrik, trust all is well. Talking of nice gear you system is not to be sniffed at (discounted) Gryphon, albeit the entry level, is a very nice piece of kit. I do not know a great deal about it but thought it had a more laid back voice? I could be completely wrong of course having never auditioned one. A friend of mine had a pair of the same speakers you have, super high resolution and clarity but needed something to help the bass, he did add some woofers eventually. However, he has since switched to T+A floor standers and to be honest I find them far too bright for me but he loves them and that’s what matters most. I was somewhat surprised at the sound because he is using tube amplifiers and I expected a little different sound. This is what makes our passion so fascinating. I didn’t join the Facebook group just yet, I am awaiting delivery of my R3 speakers, using the shops demo pair right now.

Nice to see your Emit 30 review. I loved it and that made me interested.
So I went to a store and listened for myself. Could’nt hear what you described unfortunately. I do not see any other Emit 30 review on the net.
What could be the reason for this?
(Listened the Emit in a room size 4x4 meter. Amp was Naim Atom using Tidal)

I like the new segment, it just would be a good addition to show some systems in the circa 2k or 5k range. So far it has only been legit endgame stuff from, I assume, quite mature audiophiles. Feels a little biased.
