classic goan konkani song godacho panv. Really liked this song growing up and wanted for it to be there so everybody can enjoy the original. Hopefully it will last forever.
Along with my siblings, I honor our beloved Dad - late Anthony Mendes, who would've been 100 years old , on 28th December this year. It's so incredible that people of Goa still remember his songs ( mostly composed by him) and his acting skills. He was a born star. Thanking God for the amazing talents he was given to entertain people. He was the best Dad one could ever have. We still miss him dearly and are so blessed that we can watch him on video.
His name will live forever in Goan history. Thanks to Chris Mendes, also his grandson and your cousin, that reproduced this song in a modern style . Big Thumbs up 👍 Awesome performance 👏 God Bless the Mendes family🙏 . Me encanta ( I love it).
Reminds me of my childhood days my dad used to sing this often to mom to make fun in a good way he's still fun and sings not so often but that childhood memory is an awesome one 😍
Remo had done a classic flute version of this song for one of the carnival dances !!! And that performance of our favorite RockStar inspires me and inspired me !!! Go REMO GO !!!

Thursday(23/7/2020) :-In the time of "CORONAVIRUS WORLD WAR - 3" in 2020 when your own life is at the hands of a invisible pandemic it's cinema and music that breaks all barriers and provides solace and entertainment.Remember seeing the movie "Amchen Noxib" " with my parents in Mombasa in the 1960's a eternal classic. Jacinto Vaz the classic comedian has made this song a eternal hit.Today happens to be my mother's birthday and she loved Hindi and Konkani films. We were a family of seafarers with my father being a "Cargo Supervisor" based in Mombasa and me later a "Marine Engineer" sailing across the Globe. The Sea and water is always in my veins. This song is in her memory, a evergreen classic. Ahoy !
@@teeferns9737 Tee Ferns apologize for my mistake little realizing that you are the son of the evergreen Goan actor Anthony.Mendes. This song is one of my all time favorites among languages.
These are the translations. The lyrics are literal translation, and some I have tried to make sense of. The overall song is just him asking for forgiveness and expressing his love. Any other Goan with a good Konkani vocabulary is always welcome to correct me. Male: Maria, Have you come to invite me for the feast? Female: No, my love, I have come to tell you not to get angry about what my father has said. Male: You keep calling me your love to make me excited, but it seems that you are just shaking the cradle (a way to say you are teasing me) Female: Fine, don't listen to me, I am leaving. Male: Maria x3 Then the song starts. In your useless anger, why are you running away In your love, look, I am starting to wilt away. In love, girl, a lot does happen Sometimes laughter, sometimes tears, But this is for you and I to be understanding about. My love, you are my joy, you break the tree of love ( anyone can correct me on this). When you are in my arms, I don't feel hunger. I have loved for a long time (lit. I have loved her from the day before yesterday) She runs, how do I catch her In the sea, my love ship is just floating away. I simply said that she was 'shaking me in a cradle ' (met. It means that she is fooling me.) She claimed I don't understand love angrily I have a doubt that she has a crush on an other guy She will cheat on me, break my heart, and say goodbye. (Same paragraph is repeated twice here. ) Whatever has happened has happened, my sweet bun. (Lit. My sweet bread. Note: it is a bread available in Goa made of coconut, though not many bakeries produce it anymore. So if you want to taste it, inquire with the locals. The last sweet bread I ate was from Valenkani bakery, Parra. I liked it) If you leave me, I will kill myself, You forcefully excited me We fell in love last March But till today, I have not felt (lit. Seen) the sweetness of love. Because I love you I come running to you Whatever has happened, let us forget for now I bear everything just to please you But by making you my queen, I shall become a king. (This is repeated twice.)
We in Latin America have amazing musical similarities with goan (and also malacan , sri lankan, etc.) traditional music. Of course, due to iberian (portuguese and spanish) common influences and heritage.
