‘Nachom-ia Kumpasar’ is a Konkani feature film - a tribute to Goan Music and its legendary musicians. Narrated through the emotional rollercoaster of a love story destined for tragedy, it celebrates Goan music through the eyes of its prodigiously eclectic generation of musicians in the 1960s and 70s.
The film weaves its lilting narrative through 20 timeless Konkani songs that capture the timbre and texture of a soundscape these musicians made their own.
Nachom-ia Kumpasar is a nostalgic musical tale set in the times these formidable talents lived and died in. Unrecognized. Unappreciated. And unsung.

Hindi movies were classified into before and after SHOLAY. Konkani movies are classified before and after NACHOM EA KUMPASAR. This the only Konkani movie that has the honor of being included in the Oscar library in Hollywood America. Thanks to Bardroy Barretto.

I wish we still had this type of jazz/live music culture in Indian cities. Goan musicians were also very popular in Calcutta's music scene in the 1960s/70s before the culture died out.

Super movie, super acting by the young lady and just an exceptionally grand and joyful sound of music put out by the band...I absolutely recommend watching the movie. I think it also won the 'Palm d'Or' at the film festival in Cannes, South of France. Bravo to the team who put together this wonderful movie of the life story of Goa's golden voice "Lorna"
