Hi Krizia, Are you out of state for school or did you stay locally? I'm contemplating whether I should go to the Texas campus or the Riverside one instead it would be closer to my house. How are you doing it?
Hi I work full time from 8am - 5pm Monday through Friday. with some flexibility to leave leave early on some days. With my current schedule do you think its possible to do both work full time and go to school? also what are the class hours like?
Unfortunately, I don’t think it’s possible. Classes are about 5 hours long and are usually scheduled in the morning or afternoon. I’m not sure about the schedule for pre requisites but in core, you have 1 lecture day for 5 hours, another day for clinicals for 12 hours and a skills day for about 3 hours.
@@nurse_krizia how do the sizes run? i’m starting core next semester and i need to order my uniform soon but i’m scared i’ll get stuck with really big scrubs
@@sonomora9336 they run true to size! But if you have a bigger chest, I’d say size up on the top. For the bottoms, I’d get my normal size since the pants are stretchy.
I’m ready but hesitant to begin because I worry about failing in middle of program and just leave with bunch of debts. It is such a short term, once you bomb an exam I guess there is no chance to bring your grades up.
Hey! Being hesitant is normal but if you know this is what you want, believe in yourself! There are chances to bring your grade up. There’s a proctored exam that always helps students out and is taken right before the final.
I just applied for the Dallas Texas WCU campus. I really appreciate the videos. Are classes typically Mondays through Fridays? Can I work overnight Saturday and Sunday?
For the first term, they create your schedule. During core, you’re able to choose your lecture days and times. Clinicals, you can preference but not guaranteed
This was so helpful. I am in FUNDS right now this term and im barley getting my feet wet into the program, i also go to WCU OC. I'll keeo in contact with you! This was so helpful for me and the expectations that is expected in the future. I look forward to more.
Thank you for your video! it is very helpful and useful this is exactly what I was intrested in and I just have a one question do you know the employment rate after graduation?
Vanessa Bliss thank you for watching!!!! 💕 I actually don’t know the employment rate, but the school does offer career services and employment opportunities while in school. These opportunities get your foot in the door with a hospital and a lot hire from within
Hi there, I love your videos. I am starting my first term at WCU this June and I have a question. Are we allowed to take a break ?(maybe for like 1 term then continue where we left off?)
Kii sasomsup you’re allowed to take a non clinical term (so basically online classes, which I did) or completely take a term off. If you do, it isn’t always guaranteed that you will start again the following term. I’ve known some students who took a term off and had to wait for 2 terms to be resequenced back in
I’m currently in the first term on Core. The critical grade is 75.5% to pass the class. Will the Critical grade increase throughout the course or will it stay the same? Btw I like your video and clear explanation
Hello. Hope you are your fam are doing well. I am going to start west coast next month and I am happy. I have a question to ask in regards to class scheduling as I do intend to work. Do you have any recommendations on what hours (shift) one should work whilst attending west coast? As, I know classes check every 10 weeks, any advice will be appreciated. Thank you
Christ Love hey Christ! Congrats and welcome! I advise to work day shifts either per diem or part time. I work per diem day shifts which is only once a week. I suggest day shift because majority of your clinicals are day shifts and if you decide to do night shifts, it can affect your sleeping schedule unless you’re someone who doesn’t need a lot of sleep or your body is good at adapting to changes of sleep patterns. Depending on your work, night shifts can be helpful as I believe there’s more downtime and if you’re able to, use that time to study
Carolyn if you fail two nursing core classes, it is automatic dismissal. I have heard that a fail on fundamentals and med surg 1 do not count as a fail. When you fail, you retake the class. You take clinicals with theory and if you don’t pass theory but you pass clinicals, you only retake theory. It’s more rare to not pass clinicals vs theory. To not pass clinicals, it’s basically because you skipped/missed it
Thank you for sharing your experience. If I decide to take one pre requisite at wcu(only one left ) will it be included in the beginning or do they make you take it separate ?
Brandi M. Holmes depends on the term, just expect for each class to be one day. Clinicals is 12 hours once a week and then theory is once a week for 5 hours. In addition to that, you may have skills. But just expect for every class, it’s one day and you can double up if you want. Which is taking two theories a day
Oh totally didn’t see you mentioned nursing core! Either 2 or 3 times! 2 days if you take intro to professionalism and funds theory on the same day and the 2nd day is skills for 12 hours. For skills, the first 4 weeks are at school and the next 4 weeks are at your clinical site. It’s 3 days if you take intro and funds theory on separate days + clinicals on the third
@@nurse_krizia Thanks so much,I'm just now starting my first term of my GEs and I'm working full-time right now, But I know I may have to cut my hours down. I'm just trying to save and get an idea of how many hours I'll be able to work a week. I love your videos, they are very informative. Best wishes!
Brandi M. Holmes yay! Congrats! & thank you for watching them!!! I’d say first term, second term with med surg/Pharm and ob is when you should cut back on hours. Once you get through medsurg 2, you’ll have a better handle of it all! But I know others who worked full time during core so it’s doable!
If you start nursing school with a friend, do we all have the same schedule, same classes ?Do we all have the same clinical days? I’m starting WCU in a couple months . So excited !!!!!!! Thank you for your videos 💕
Thank you for sharing your journey! Your videos are so informative and exactly what I was looking for. Hoping to see you at WCU soon
baalerie thank you so much!! & glad I could help!
I just applied today , finished all my GE’s at a community and planning to transfer over to WCU . This all sounds so overwhelming I’m so nervous .

Did you have to wear scrubs for your skills during the first term of Core?
Yes! You wear the assigned uniform

Hey! I’m not sure at the Dallas campus but in the OC campus, yes classes are Monday to Friday but clinicals be on the weekends
Thank you so much for this vid ! Any way you can post / share what textbook you used for Pharm and Intro to Med Surg ??
Question... Do you recommend to take prerequisites before applying WCU LA school? How much money can i save if i do that?
definitely do prerequisites before applying to WCU. I saved sooooo much money.
I hope you guys find this helpful & thank you guys for watching my videos! If you need any help, just DM me on instagram @kriziaann__ !!
How do you study for nursing. What’s your strategy
I made a video about it! ruclips.net/video/EEouySeBIIE/видео.html

Heyy.. random question? Was it hard to find roommates? And do you live with roommates that go to WCU
Betty Taylor hey! I actually don’t live with roommates but there are other students who do look for roommates on our school’s fb page.
Are you working while you’re in school? Or did you get a scholarship for an apartment?
What’s the policy when you fail a core class? Do you get another chance to retake?
