Charlie, Yes, it is true the Hybrid Cross puts the non-Hybrid 2.Slow engine to shame but when will Toyota get Hybrid production up to a speed that actually matches demand?? Their recent habit of over-promising and under-delivering Hybrids is becoming irksome. In regard to practicality, Toyota needs to steal a few designers/engineers from Honda to teach them the basics of interior space efficiency. Compared to the HR-V, the Cross fails to deliver a child seat-friendly back row and the rear door openings are less than ideal. 🤨

i have a corolla cross with 2.0 engine. i use extreme driving style to get 5.0L/100km, which is 47MPG. i never go over 100km/h, seldom let the engine go over 2500rpm when accelerating and hyper mill when ever possible. so l smile when i see the gas pump, and its a different kind of fun to squeeze for MPG.

If the Honda HR-V comes out with a hybrid model within the next year, is it gonna change the game for many people? The Kia Niro is like your middle ground if you want the hybrid but a more up-to-date interior and tech, but yeah like many of the comments say, the FWD and accel isnt a selling point. And then there is the mazda cx-30 that doesnt have a hybrid (correct me if im wrong) but i feel like has the better and more appealing engine and driving experience, but a smaller cargo space than say the HR-V.... the Sub coompact crossover kind category is def heating up in the next years.
