Sara, an IT professional & Stephen a graphic designer and artist are world-traveling Canadians who dreamt of moving to Europe, and France in particular. In 2020 they were working from home when Stephen turned to Sara and popped the question she was longing to hear, “What would have to be true for us to buy a chateau in France?” They searched online for months viewing hundreds of properties. They narrowed their search and toured some properties when they happened upon the one that captured our hearts, Château de Saint-Germain-des-Prés. A year later they made the move to France to start their new adventure in our beautiful Château. They created “Manor and Maker” to reflect the two sides of their adventure. One, to live as chateau owners with all the ups and downs and two, to pursue their passions as makers, creating art in all its forms. They will invite others to come together, united by their passions, to share in this adventure. We invite you to join us too, as we bring our dreams to life. Welcome to Manor & Maker.

I hoped you have enjoyed this adventure brought on by technicalities. Best line ever "our accountant proposed and we accepted!" Any excuse for a party and new outfits and more food with friends, though it can be tiring to be hosting and the center of attention and so on. Trust you have scheduled some downtime and quiet time for yourselves - a return to your normal with perhaps an extra dash of sentimental joy!
Sarah and Steve, I posted on Vivienne’s channel a message but I’ll pop it here too. You were asking about the Stunning silk embroideries and who best to contact. If you contact the Royal School of Needlework at Hampton Court Palace in London England they will be able to advise you how to conserve, restore/repair and how to display them for the future. They are prestigious in the world of Needlework craft and they will not only be able to give advice but they will be able to give you some history on the pieces too. I don’t know if they charge for this but ultimately they are the best of the best and it will be worth a trip to their studios at the Palace with the embroideries and Hampton Court Palace is a fabulous place to visit. Congratulations to you both on your fabulous wedding day. X
